Situs Inversus Totalis with Left-Sided Appendicitis: A Case Report

Introduction: Left-sided acute appendicitis (LSAA) develops in association with two types of congenital anomalies: situs inversus totalis (SIT) and midgut malrotation (MM). A Left sided appendicitis is an ambiguous and difficult diagnosis to make. Aim: To present a proven case of left-sided acute appendicitis (LSAA) associated with situs inversus totalis (SIT). Case Report: A case of Left appendicitis was evaluated in a 28-year-old Asian male, who presented to our hospital in Feb. 2016, with lower abdominal pain more on left side and suspected diverticulitis or acute appendicitis with unusual appendix location. The patient doesn’t recall any history of abdominal surgery or about situs inversus totalis, abdominal and pelvic ultrasound was done, left iliac fossa appendicitis was diagnosed, Erect chest X-ray including upper abdomen revealed dextrocardia and stomach air on right side (situs inversus totalis), the patient underwent diagnostic Laproscop and Endoscopic resection of the appendix, with no incidents, and then discharged without complications, follow visits went unremarkable. Conclusion: The diagnosis of left lower quadrant pain is based on well-established clinical symptoms, physical examination and physician’s experience.

Objective: To study the value of the filarial dance sign as a diagnostic sign in scrotal ultrasonography in human Bancroftian filariasis. Methods: We studied 3 patients with scrotal pain, with high-resolution ultrasonography (HRUS) of scrotum including power and color Doppler study. All patients underwent peripheral blood smear. Results: Multiple cystic spaces containing motile echogenic twisted tubular structures were observed in the 3 patients. Peripheral blood smears in the 3 patients confirmed the presence of microfilaria. Mild hydrocele in two patients. Conclusions: HRUS is a useful technique for diagnosing scrotal filariasis in symptomatic patients and is very useful in the follow-up treatment.

Introduction: Owing to the advanced development of MRI science, it causes obvious great changes of many diseases that affect the female genital system and affect their fertility. Hemorrhagic gynecological diseases especially endometriosis affect young females and cause cyclic pain, in addition to infertility. So early detection is essential for proper treatment. Susceptibility-weighted (SWI) as one of the most recent newly created MRI sequences is highly sensitive to detect products of hemorrhage within different gynecologic disorders with 94.7% sensitivity being more meticulous than conventional MRI sequences as T1 and T2. Aim of the Work: A comparison between T1 and T2 as conventional MRI sequences with susceptibility-weighted images (SWI) in many gynecologic disorders by the detection of the presence of internal products of hemorrhage at any stage. Subjects and Methods: 48 consecutive patients from Benha University clinics (age range, 17 - 60 years;mean age, 35.67 years). The patients included in the study were presenting with pelvic pain, irregular menses, Dyspareunia, and swelling. All with suspicious diagnosis of ovarian and extra-ovarian lesions. 38 patients out of the 48 patients were known to contain hemorrhagic disorder;all the patients underwent MRI routine pelvis protocol adding SWI sequence. Results: There was a greatly significant difference between SWI and conventional MRI sequences T1and T2 with sensitivity 94.7%, 57.9% and 33.3% respectively. Conclusion: SWI is a promising tool in the evaluation of hemorrhagic foci within different gynecological disorders. The great ability of detecting hemosiderin foci increases the value of SWI over conventional MRI or US.

The plantation of non-native species is one of the most expensive ecological restoration measures in arid and semi-arid areas,while its impacts on local communities are largely *** study assessed the rate of change and the dynamic degree of the economic values of ecosystem services related to local conservation(water yield,stocking rate and aesthetic value)and preserving the future(carbon sequestration,soil protection,soil stability and habitat provision)to determine the restoration success of the plantation of non-native species Haloxylon ammodendron(***.)Bunge ex Fenzl(15-and 30-year-old)in parts of arid rangelands of Bardsir region,Kerman Province,*** investigated the impacts of the two plantations on the seven ecosystem services and ecosystem structures(horizontal and vertical structures,vegetation composition and species diversity)based on field sampling and measurements at four sampling sites(i.e.,control,degraded,and 15-and 30-year-old plantation sites)in spring and summer of *** restoration success of the plantation of non-native species was then examined by assessing the rate of change and the dynamic degree of the total economic value of all ecosystem services as well as the rate of change and the dynamic degree of the economic values of ecosystem services for the two groups(local conservation and preserving the future).Although the plantation of non-native species *** enormously improved the vertical and horizontal structures of ecosystems,it failed to increase species diversity and richness ***,despite the plantation of non-native species *** had significantly increased the economic values of all ecosystem services,it was only quite successful in restoring carbon *** analysis showed that plantation age had a significant impact on restoration success directly and indirectly(through changing ecosystem structures and services).The dynamic degree of the economic values of ecosystem services r

In this paper,a new correlated covariance matrix for Multi-Input Multi-Output(MIMO)radar is proposed,which has lower Side Lobe Levels(SLLs)compared to the new covariance matrix designs and the well-known multi-antenna radar designs including phased-array,MIMO radar and phased-MIMO radar *** is shown that Binary Phased-Shift Keying(BPSK)waveforms that have constant envelope can be used in a closed-form to realize the proposed covariance ***,there is no need to deploy different types of radio amplifiers in the transmitter which will reduce the cost,*** proposed design allows the same transmit power from each antenna in contrast to the phased-MIMO ***,the proposed covariance matrix is full-rank and has the same capability as MIMO radar to identify more targets,*** of the proposed transmit covariance matrix including receive beampattern and output Signal-to-Interference plus Noise Ratio(SINR)is simulated,which validates analytical results.

In recent decades, the control of floods is an efficient management practice for the rehabilitation of rangelands in most arid and semiarid areas. To evaluate the benefits, we used the Landscape Function Analysis （LFA） method to assess the function of patches and qualitative capability of a rangeland ecosystem in Gareh By- gone region, Fars province, southwestern Iran. Landscape functionality depends on soil, water and nutrient （col- lectively called ＂resources＂） conservation and use within a given ecosystem. Many landscapes are naturally het- erogeneous in terms of resource control and possess patches, where resources tend to accumulate, and in- ter-patches. Assessing rangeland health and function of landscape patches in response to environment and man- agement can give rise to correct management decisions for qualitative improvement of the ecosystem. Therefore, our study area was divided into two parts, i.e. water spreading and control parts, and sampling was done using LFA method in each part separately. Structural parameters, including the number, length and width of patches, and the mean length of inter-patches, were determined by the method to characterize the functional status of the monitoring sites. For each patch/inter-patch type identified in the transect organization log, we recorded its soil surface proper- ties classified according to the Soil Surface Assessment Method. The density, canopy cover and composition of plants were then assessed. The results showed that the number of ecological patches and their dimensions were significantly increased in the water spreading site. Soil stability and the values of nutrient cycling indices were in- creased but the infiltration values were decreased in the water spreading site. It could be related to the effect of suspended materials transported by floods to the soils in the study area. The mobility,bioavailability,and environmental fate of heavy metals in soil are controlled by their adsorption onto soil minerals and solid organic *** adsorption is strongly affected by the presence of various low-molecular-weight organic *** this study,effect of hydroxamate siderophore desferrioxamine B (DFOB) on cadmium (Cd) and zinc (Zn) adsorption onto two micaceous clay minerals,muscovite and phlogopite,was evaluated in batch *** showed that the presence of DFOB diminished the adsorption of Cd and Zn onto both minerals,particularly under neutral to alkaline pH *** instance,at pH 8.2,the presence of DFOB caused a decrease in the adsorption of Zn onto phlogopite by nearly 50%.The equilibrium adsorption of Cd and Zn was satisfactorily described using Freundlich *** adsorption isotherms showed that the affinity of Cd and Zn onto the minerals decreased in the presence of *** example,at pH 8.0,the presence of siderophore caused a decrease in the Freundlich adsorption isotherm coefficient KF for Zn adsorption onto muscovite and phlogopite from 4.60 to 0.07 L g^-1 and from 3.56 to 0.36 L g^-1,*** findings confirm the potential influence of siderophore on the fate of Cd and Zn in arid soils containing substantial contributions of micaceous silicate minerals.
