Highly selective adsorption of rhenium by amyloid-like protein material

Rhenium separation from molybdenum in molybdenite minerals and waste leachate has become an emerging *** this challenge,we prepared a set of protein-based alkylamine/alkylammonium salts complexes as extractants for selective uptake of rhenium from molybdenum,where the protein component turned into the insoluble amyloid-like structure when its internal disulfide bonds were reduced,namely phase-transition *** them,the phase-transited lysozyme and methyletrioctyleammonium chloride complex(PTL-N263)exhibited the most efficient adsorption at the alkaline condition for the electrostatic interaction between negatively charged metal ions with positively charged center(R_(4)N^(+))in N263,where negatively charged protein residues hindered the ion exchange of Cl^(-)in N263 for larger size Mo species(Mo_(7)O_(24)^(6-))than smaller size Re species(ReO^(4-)).The adsorption follows the Freundlich model and pseudo-second-order kinetics,which exhibits toplevel adsorption performance with a maximum adsorption capacity of 124 mg/g and a separation factor(β_(Re/Mo))of 2.78×10^(3)for *** adsorption capacity per unit area(57.2 mg/(g m^(2)))is 1.6–41 times higher than previously reported adsorbents,and the cost for adsorbing 1 g of Re(VII)is$1.07,indicating its industrial *** adsorption strategy can be applied to separating Re from Mo in binary solutions and industrial wastewater with other competing ions.

EFFECT OF THE COMPOSITION OF m-CRESOL/H_2O SOLVENT ON HYDRODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF NYLON 6

The intrinsic viscosity [η], Huggins constant （Ku）, [η]0, α^3 and flow activation energy values of nylon 6 have been measured in wateηm-cresol （0/100-20/80） systems at different temperatures （20-60℃）. It has been found that the intrinsic viscosity, [η]0 and α^3 increase with the increase in water contents in m-cresol up to 15% and then decrease. They increase with the increase in temperature irrespective of solvent composition. It has been noted that the percent increase of α^3 is the highest at 60℃ and the lowest at 20℃ for a particular solvent system. The intrinsic viscosity data obey Arrhenius equation over the considered conditions. The activation energy and the KH values decrease very sharply with the addition of water, giving a minimum value at 15% of water and then increase slowly. The variation of all the parameters has been explained in terms of variation in thermodynamic quality of solvent with the addition of water to m-cresol and change in temperature, resulting in the change of conformational and orientational properties of polymer molecules. This change of solvent quality also results in variation of selective sorption of solvent over the polymer, such as hydrogen bonding, etc.

An indicator model for assessing community resilience to the COVID-19 pandemic and its validation: A case study in Hong Kong

The COVID-19 outbreak had a significant negative impact on the world,and the fifth wave of COVID-19 in Hong Kong brought a considerable shock to Chinese *** is a growing call for more resilient ***,empirical evidence and validation of modeling studies of resilience indicators for urban community responses to the COVID-19 pandemic still need to be *** this study,a resilience assessment indicator model comprising 4 subsystems,7 indicators,and 12 variables was developed to assess the resilience of Hong Kong communities in response to COVID-19(i.e.,Resilience Index).Furthermore,this study utilized regression models such as geographically weighted regression(GWR)and multiscale GWR(MGWR)to validate the resilience model proposed in this study at the model and variable *** the regression model,the Resilience Index and the individual variables in the resilience model are explanatory variables,and the outcomes of the COVID-19 pandemic(confirmed cases,confirmation rate,discharged cases,discharge rate)are dependent *** results showed that:(i)the resilience of Hong Kong communities to the COvID-19 pandemic was not strong in general and showed some clustered spatial distribution characteristics;(i)the validation results at the model level showed that the Resilience Index did not explain the consequences of the COvID-19 pandemic to a high degree;(ii)the validation results at the variable level showed that the MGWR model was the best at identifying the relationships between explanatory variables and the dependent variable;and(iv)compared with the model-level assessment results,the variable-level assessment explained the consequences of the COvID-19 pandemic better than the model level assessment *** above analysis and the spatial distribution maps of the resilience variables can provide empirically based and targeted insights for policymakers.

Construction of a Computational Scheme for the Fuzzy HIV/AIDS Epidemic Model with a Nonlinear Saturated Incidence Rate

The use of privacy-enhanced facial recognition has increased in response to growing concerns about data securityand privacy in the digital age. This trend is spurred by rising demand for face recognition technology in a varietyof industries, including access control, law enforcement, surveillance, and internet communication. However,the growing usage of face recognition technology has created serious concerns about data monitoring and userprivacy preferences, especially in context-aware systems. In response to these problems, this study provides a novelframework that integrates sophisticated approaches such as Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), Blockchain,and distributed computing to solve privacy concerns while maintaining exact face recognition. The framework’spainstaking design and execution strive to strike a compromise between precise face recognition and protectingpersonal data integrity in an increasingly interconnected environment. Using cutting-edge tools like Dlib for faceanalysis,Ray Cluster for distributed computing, and Blockchain for decentralized identity verification, the proposedsystem provides scalable and secure facial analysis while protecting user privacy. The study’s contributions includethe creation of a sustainable and scalable solution for privacy-aware face recognition, the implementation of flexibleprivacy computing approaches based on Blockchain networks, and the demonstration of higher performanceover previous methods. Specifically, the proposed StyleGAN model has an outstanding accuracy rate of 93.84%while processing high-resolution images from the CelebA-HQ dataset, beating other evaluated models such asProgressive GAN 90.27%, CycleGAN 89.80%, and MGAN 80.80%. With improvements in accuracy, speed, andprivacy protection, the framework has great promise for practical use in a variety of fields that need face recognitiontechnology. 【目的】马铃薯瓢虫Henosepilachna vigintioctomaculata (Motschulsky)是农田生态系统中常见的食叶类害虫。马铃薯SolanumtuberosumL.、大豆Glycinemax(Linn.)Merr.、茄子Solanum melongena L.、辣椒Capsicum annuum L.和白菜Brassica rapa var. glabra Regel是该害虫的重要寄主植物。【方法】本研究以5种农作物为供试寄主，研究马铃薯瓢虫对各寄主植物的适应性。【结果】马铃薯瓢虫取食马铃薯和茄子时的幼虫发育历期短、蛹较重、幼虫存活率高、成虫寿命长且产卵量高。马铃薯瓢虫在马铃薯、大豆、茄子和白菜4种寄主植物上均能实现种群繁殖，相比大豆和白菜，马铃薯和茄子更利于马铃薯瓢虫的生长发育。种群内禀增长率（rm=0.129 d﹣1,0.127 d﹣1）、净增殖率（R0=52.066粒，51.384粒）、周限增长率（λ=1.138 d﹣1,1.136 d﹣1）和种群趋势指数（I=120.99,115.17）均在马铃薯和茄子饲喂条件下最高，平均世代周期短于其他寄主植物。【结论】马铃薯瓢虫在5种寄主植物上均有很好的适应性，其中饲喂马铃薯的种群生物学特性参数最好，其次是茄子。
