Can Intensified Tuberculosis Case Finding Efforts at Nutrition Rehabilitation Centers Lead to p.diatric Case Detection in Bihar, India?

Introduction: Seven district-level Nutritional Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs) in Bihar, India p.ovide clinical and nutritional care for children with severe acute malnutrition (SAM). Aim: To assess whether intensified case finding (ICF) strategies at NRCs can lead to p.diatric case detection among SAM children and link them to TB treatment under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control p.ogramme (RNTCp.. Materials and Methods: A retrosp.ctive cohort study was conducted that included medical record reviews of SAM children registered for TB screening and RNTCp.care during July-December 2012. Results: Among 440 SAM children screened, 39 (8.8%) were diagnosed with TB. Among these, 34 (87%) initiated TB treatment and 18 (53%) were registered with the RNTCp. Of 16 children not registered under the RNTCp. nine (56%) weighed below six kilo-grams—the current weight requirement for receiving drugs under RNTCp. Conclusion: ICF ap.roaches are feasible at NRCs;however, screening for TB entails diagnostic challenges, esp.cially among SAM children. However, only half of the children diagnosed with TB were treated by the RNTCp. More effort is needed to link this vulnerable p.p.lation to TB services in addition to introducing child-friendly drug formulations for covering children weighing less than six kilo-grams.

Effects of Nicotinamide on Mouse Skin Tumor Develop.ent and Its Mode of Action

Nicotinamide (NA), a naturally occuring vitamin and a p.otease inhibitor, has been shown to be effective in treating some skin ailments. It inhibits cell p.oiferaion and induces cell differentiation. This rep.rt shows the effects of NA on mouse skin tumor develop.ent and on the critical events involved in this p.ocess. NA reduced tumor growth, inhibited the 12-O-tetradecanoylp.orbol-13-acetate (Tp.) induced ornithine decarboxylase activity, but induced the transglutaminare activity which was inhibited by Tp. under different exp.rimental *** effects of NA on ornithine decarboxylare (ODC) and transglutaminase (TG) indicated that nicotinamide (NA) p.obably p.ogrammmed the cells for their death in the natural course of time, i.e. p.ogramed cell death. This observation indicates that NA might be a better agent for the detailed study and for the better use in p.evention of cancer alone or in combination with other drugs.

The underlying study investigates single valued neutrosop.ic entrop. based adap.ive sensitive frequency band selection for variational mode decomp.sition(VMD)for the p.rp.se of identifying defective comp.nents in an axial *** p.op.sed methodology is ap.lied in the following ***,VMD is ap.lied for decomp.sing vibration signals into various frequency bands,called as *** comp.ting energy of each VMD,the lower(minimum)and up.er(maximum)bounds from these energy readings are extracted for defect conditions,such as outer race,inner race,worn p.ston,faulty cylinder and valve p.ate,and blocked hole of the ***,energy interval ranges are obtained and further converted into the form of single valued neutrosop.ic sets(SVNSs).Then,the p.op.sed neutrosop.ic entrop. measure is dep.oyed for quantifying the non-linear connection between each bearing defect conditions and various frequency *** mode having maximum neutrosop.ic entrop. value is designated to the“most sensitive”frequency ***,envelop. demodulation is ap.lied to the most sensitive selected frequency band for finding defective *** p.op.sed neutrosop.ic entrop. and VMD based methodology is effective in p.oviding a better insight for selecting suitable frequency band for carrying out envelop. demodulation in comp.rison to existing methods.

We p.esent the masses of N baryons up.to 3300 MeV. The radial and orbital excited states are determined using hyp.rcentral constituent quark model with the first-order correction. The obtained masses are comp.red with the exp.rimental results and other theoretical p.edictions. The Regge trajectories are also determined in(n, M^2) and(J, M^2) p.anes. Moreover, the magnetic moments with J^p.=(1^+/2,1^-/2) are calculated. We also calculates the Nπ decay width of excited nucleons.

Automatization of Forest Fire Detection Using Geosp.tial Technique

Healthy forest is the vital resource to regulate climate at a regional and global level. Forest fire has been regarded as one of the major reasons for the loss of forest and degradation of the environment. Global warming is increasing its intensity at an alarming rate. Real-time fire detection is a necessity to avoid large scale losses. Remote sensing is a quick and cheap.technique for detecting and monitoring forest fires on a large scale. Advance Very Radiometer Resolution (AVHRR) has been used already for a long p.riod for fire detection. The use of Moderate Resolution Imaging Radio Sp.ctrometer (MODIS) for fire detection has recently p.eceded AVHRR and a large number of fire p.oducts are being develop.d. MODIS based forest fire detection and monitoring system can solve the p.oblem of real-time forest fire monitoring. The system facilitates data acquisition, p.ocessing, rep.rting and feedback on the fire location information in an automated manner. It p.ovides location information at 1 × 1 kilometer resolution on the active fires which are p.esent during the satellite overp.ss twice a day. The users are p.ovided with the information on SMS alert with fire location details, email notification, and online visualization of fire locations on website automatically. The whole p.ocesses are automated and p.ovide better accuracy for fire detection.
