The modification of asphalt binder with natural rubber latex(NR)significantly improves the rutting and fatigue resistance of asphalt ***,NR-modified binder is prone to low workability and wettability due to its high ***,this research focuses on examining the influences of silane and wax-based additives on the wettability of natural rubber-modified binders and the binder-aggregates adhesion *** this study,experimental and analytical approaches were *** contact angles of asphalt binder were measured using a goniometer through the sessile drop method with three solvents:deionised water,formamide,and *** Cþþalgorithm was adopted to compute the surface free energy(SFE)elements of the asphalt *** methods were employed to analyse the results based on the Young-Dupre equation,followed by linear regression to establish a correlation between the compatibility ratio(CR)and the SFE *** results inferred that modified asphalt binders with additives possessed improved moisture resistance,wherein dry work adhesion values were less than 210 mJ/m^(2)under granite interfaces,whereas the limestone interface exhibited higher dry adhesion values of 340 mJ/m^(2)and *** performance results were observed under wet adhesion conditions;with granite wet adhesive values observed below 120 mJ/m^(2),while limestone wet adhesion values were ascertained below 180 mJ/m^(2)for all tested samples and *** to the spread–ability coefficient results,the limestone interface has greater spread-ability than granite ***,compatibility ratio values indicated better compatibility of 1.9 or higher for tested samples under granite interfaces,whereas compatibility values of 1.7 and below were observed under limestone interfaces.

Torsional behavior of triangular web profile （TRIWP） steel section by experimental study

A triangular web profile （TriWP） is a modified section where the flanges are connected to a web plate of triangular profile. This study examined the torsional behavior of TriWP steel sections and compared to that of the fiat web （FW） steel sections. Three types of specimen sizes were used： 180 mmx 75 mm × 5 mm× 2 mm, 200 mm × 100 mm× 8 mm ×6 mm, and 200 mm× 100 mm × 6 mm× 5 mm. All the specimens were loaded vertically until the maximum load was achieved and then the load was released. For both types of specimens, it was observed that the torsional rotation for bigger size [200 mm× 100 mm× 8 mm × 6 mm] were smaller than that of smaller size [ 180 mm × 75 mm×5 mm× 2 mm] of the specimens. At the maximum torsional loading, the experimental result was compared to the theoretical calculation. The comparison showed that the percentage difference ranged from 1.10% to 16.80%. From the graph of torsional load versus rotational angle, the torsional rotation for all TriWP steel sections were smaller than that of the FW steel section under the same torsional loading i.e., 0.2 kNm and 1 kNm. The range between FW and TriWP were 3.74 to 71.83 at 0.2 kNm while 14.5 to 75.1 at 1.0 kNm. The findings were shown that the TriWP steel sections had better resistance against torsion in comparison to FW steel section.

This work presents a dual band epsilon negative(ENG)metamaterial with a bilateral coupled split ring resonator(SRR)for use in C and X band wireless communication *** traditional split-ring resonator(SRR)has been amended with this engineered *** proposed metamaterial unit cell is realized on the 1.6 mm thick FR-4 printed media with a dimension of 10×10 *** resonating patch built with a square split outer *** interlinked inner rings are coupled vertically to the outer ring to extend its electrical length as well as to tune the resonance *** simulation is performed using CST studio suite 2019 to design and performance *** transmission coefficient(S21)of the proposed unit cell and array configuration exhibits two resonances at 6.7 and 10.5 GHz with wide bandwidth extended from 4.86 to 8.06 GHz and 10.1 to 11.2 GHz,*** permittivity is noted at frequencies between 6.76–9.5 GHz and 10.5–12 GHz,consecutively,with near-zero refractive index and *** optimal EMR value depicts the compactness of the proposed *** 1×2,2×2 and 4×4 arrays are analyzed that shows similar response compared to the unit *** results of the 2×2 array shows the close similarity of S21 response as compared to *** observed properties of the proposed unit cell ascertain its suitability for wireless communications by enhancing the gain and directivity of the antenna system.

A Novel Wrapper-Based Optimization Algorithm for the Feature Selection and Classification

Machine learning(ML)practices such as classification have played a very important role in classifying diseases in medical *** medical science is a sensitive field,the pre-processing of medical data requires careful handling to make quality clinical ***,medical data is considered high-dimensional and complex data that contains many irrelevant and redundant *** factors indirectly upset the disease prediction and classification accuracy of any ML *** address this issue,various data pre-processing methods called Feature Selection(FS)techniques have been presented in the ***,the majority of such techniques frequently suffer from local minima issues due to large solution ***,this study has proposed a novel wrapper-based Sand Cat SwarmOptimization(SCSO)technique as an FS approach to find optimum features from ten benchmark medical *** SCSO algorithm replicates the hunting and searching strategies of the sand cat while having the advantage of avoiding local optima and finding the ideal solution with minimal control ***,K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN)classifier was used to evaluate the effectiveness of the features identified by the proposed SCSO *** performance of the proposed SCSO algorithm was compared with six state-of-the-art and recent wrapper-based optimization algorithms using the validation metrics of classification accuracy,optimum feature size,and computational cost in *** simulation results on the benchmark medical datasets revealed that the proposed SCSO-KNN approach has outperformed comparative algorithms with an average classification accuracy of 93.96%by selecting 14.2 features within 1.91 ***,the Wilcoxon rank test was used to perform the significance analysis between the proposed SCSOKNN method and six other algorithms for a p-value less than *** findings revealed that the proposed algorithm produces better outcomes with an average p-value o

Medical imaging plays a key role within modern hospital management systems for diagnostic *** methodologies are extensively employed to mitigate storage demands and enhance transmission speed,all while upholding image ***,an increasing number of hospitals are embracing cloud computing for patient data storage,necessitating meticulous scrutiny of server security and privacy ***,considering the widespread availability of multimedia tools,the preservation of digital data integrity surpasses the significance of compression *** response to this concern,we propose a secure storage and transmission solution for compressed medical image sequences,such as ultrasound images,utilizing a motion vector watermarking *** watermark is generated employing an error-correcting code known as Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem(BCH)and is subsequently embedded into the compressed sequence via block-based motion *** the process of watermark embedding,motion vectors are selected based on their magnitude and phase *** embedding watermarks,no specific spatial area,such as a region of interest(ROI),is used in the *** embedding of watermark bits is dependent on motion *** reversible watermarking allows the restoration of the original image sequences,we use the irreversible watermarking *** reason for this is that the use of reversible watermarks may impede the claims of ownership and legal *** restoration of original data or images may call into question ownership or other legal *** peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR)and structural similarity index(SSIM)serve as metrics for evaluating the watermarked image *** all images,the PSNR value exceeds 46 dB,and the SSIM value exceeds *** results substantiate the efficacy of the proposed technique in preserving data integrity.

Hypoglycemic effect of Octomeles sumatrana aqueous extract in streptozotocin—induced diabetic rats and its molecular mechanisms

Objective:To investigate the hypoglycemic effect of the aqueous extract of Octomeles sumatrana (***)(OS) in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats(STZ) and its molecular mechanisms. Methods:Diabetes was induced by intraperitoneal(i.p.) injection of streptozotocin(55 mg/kg) in to male Sprague-Dawley *** were divided into six different groups;normal control rats were not induced with STZ and served as reference,STZ diabetic control rats were given normal *** groups were treated with OS aqueous extract at 0.2,0.3 and 0.5 g/kg,orally twice daily continuously for 21 *** fifth group was treated with glibenclamide(6 mg/kg) in aqueous solution orally continuously for 21 *** completion of the treatment period,biochemical parameters and expression levels of glucose transporter 2(Slc2a2),glucose-6-phosphatase (GoPase) and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase(PCK1) were determined in liver by quantitative real time ***:Administration of OS at different doses to STZ induced diabetic rats, resulted in significant decrease(P<0.05) in blood glucose level in a dose dependent manner by 36%,48%,and 64%at doses of 0.2,0.3 and 0.5 g/kg,respectively,in comparison to the STZ control *** with OS elicited an increase in the expression level of Slc2a2 gene but reduced the expression of G6Pase and PCK1 ***,OS treated rats,showed significantly lower levels of serum alanine transaminase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST) and urea levels compared to STZ untreated *** extract at different doses elicited signs of recovery in body weight gain when compared to STZ diabetic controls although food and water consumption were significantly lower in treated groups compared to STZ diabetic control ***:*** aqueous extract is beneficial for improvement of hyperglycemia by increasing gene expression of liver Slc2a2 and reducing expression of G6Pase and PCK1 genes in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.

Electricity price forecasting is a subset of energy and power forecasting that focuses on projecting commercial electricity market present and future *** price forecasting have been a critical input to energy corporations’strategic decision-making systems over the last 15 *** strategies have been utilized for price forecasting in the past,however Artificial Intelligence Techniques(Fuzzy Logic and ANN)have proven to be more efficient than traditional techniques(Regression and Time Series).Fuzzy logic is an approach that uses membership functions(MF)and fuzzy inference model to forecast future electricity *** c-means(FCM)is one of the popular clustering approach for generating fuzzy membership ***,the fuzzy c-means algorithm is limited to producing only one type of MFs,Gaussian *** generation of various fuzzy membership functions is critical since it allows for more efficient and optimal problem *** a result,for the best and most improved results for electricity price forecasting,an approach to generate multiple type-1 fuzzy MFs using FCM algorithm is ***,the objective of this paper is to propose an approach for generating type-1 fuzzy triangular and trapezoidal MFs using FCM algorithm to overcome the limitations of the FCM *** approach is used to compute and improve forecasting accuracy for electricity prices,where Australian Energy Market Operator(AEMO)data is *** results show that the proposed approach of using FCM to generate type-1 fuzzy MFs is effective and can be adopted.

Isolation and identification of microfungi from soils in Serdang,Selangor,Malaysia

Microfungi are commonly inhabited soil with various *** present study was conducted in order to isolate and identify microfungi from soil samples in Serdang,Selangor,*** this study,the soil microfungi were isolated using serial dilution technique and spread plate method.A total of 25 isolates were identified into ten genera based on internal transcribed spacer region(ITS)sequence analysis,namely Aspergillus,Clonostachys,Colletotrichum,Curvularia,Gliocladiopsis,Metarhizium,Myrmecridium,Penicillium,Scedosporium and Trichoderma consisting 18 fungi *** and Penicillium species were claimed as predominant microfungi inhabiting the *** from this study can be used as a checklist for future studies related to fungi distribution in tropical *** improving further study,factors including the physicochemical properties of soil and anthropogenic activities in the sampling area should be included.
