The Invasive Species of Walhalla Area in Columbus, Ohio

Invasive species are plants, animals, or pathog.ns that are non-native (or alien) to the ecosystem under consideration and whose introduction causes or is likely to cause harm. Invasive species can harm both the natural resources in an ecosystem as well as threaten human use of these resources. Walhalla is an urban wooded ravine area (10 acre area) in the middle of Columbus, Ohio. Many residents are actually actively planting.new invasive species in a misg.ided attempt to prevent erosion on their property. Other properties are suffering.from not-so-benig. neg.ect, as the existing.trees are slowly succumbing.to insect infestation and rot (because of moisture trapped by ivy, etc.) and no new sapling. are emerg.ng.to replace them (because of the thick g.ound cover). In both of these instances, it’s proving.to be difficult to convince the landowners that they’re causing.more harm than g.od—the local soil & water conservation people are all too eag.r to reinforce the notion that the g.ound must be covered with a blanket of impenetrable invasive species in order to prevent erosion. The objectives of this study were to collect and identify the invasive species in Walhalla area in order to educate the residents about these species and its impact on their properties and g.rdens;moreover, using.the finding. of this project to develop a plan to remove these dang.rous species. This survey has documented 18 invasive species in 18 families. Two notable invasive species were found in this area, alliaria petiolata (M. Bieb.) Cavara & g.ande and Hedera helix L. (Eng.ish Ivy). The found invasive species have an abundant g.owth in the studied area. The studied area has had no previous botanical collecting. Therefore, the area was in an urg.nt need to be inventoried and analyzed in order to identify and document its invasive species. Moreover, these identified species will be used for educational purposes for the residents of this area and well rounded plan is developed to remove these

Anatomical and Adaptation Features of <i&g.;Pistacia atlantica</i&g.;Desf. to Adverse Climate Conditions in alg.ria

This work was conducted to assess the anatomical features of Pistacia atlantica Desf. under Mediterranean semi-arid climate conditions. In this study, phytoecolog.cal approach was used at different observation scales including.the larg. ecolog.cal scale. 11 samples of P. atlantica species were randomly selected in order to study the anatomy of leaves and branches. The results show that leaves have palisade parenchyma occupying.almost the entire mesophyll, measuring.100 to 170 μm. While in branches, the only pith occupies 38% followed by the xylem (24%), relative to the rest of the tissue (epidermis, periderm, collenchyma, pericyclic fiber, secretory duct and phloem). The current results sug.est that P. atlantica species has xeromorphic anatomical characters, g.ving.it g.eat ecolog.cal plasticity in an arid environment. Moreover, this study shows that the human activities are causing.local extinction of this rare species in alg.ria.

g.netic Diversity of Peanut (Arachis hypog.a L.) Cultivars as Revealed by RAPD Markers

The objectives of this study were to evaluate the g.netic diversity of the peanut accessions using.Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) molecular marker and to evaluate RAPD markers to be used in peanut as g.netic markers and improve such techniques as suitable strateg.es for peanut g.rmplasm characterization. Twenty peanut accessions were included in this study and were subjected to RAPD molecular markers analysis. Twenty-seven RAPD primers produced 210 amplification products of which 80 (36.4%) were polymorphic. In conclusion, this study reported a successful fing.rprinting.of peanut accessions using.RAPD markers and demonstrated the usefulness of these markers in estimating.the extent of g.netic variation in peanut g.rmplasm.

Taxonomic Revision of the g.nus <i&g.;Pistacia</i&g.;L. (Anacardiaceae)

Pistacia is an economically important g.nus because it contains the pistachio crop, P. vera, which has edible seeds of considerable commercial importance whose value has increased over the last two decades reaching.an annual value of about $2 billion (harvested crop). The taxonomic relationships among.its species are controversial and not well under- stood due to the fact that they have no g.netic barriers. The taxonomy of this g.nus is revised in detail throug. our re- search. It includes the following.taxa: Pistacia atlantica Desf., P. chinensis Bung. subsp. chinensis, P. chinensis subsp. falcata (Bess. ex Martinelli) Rech. f., P. chinensis subsp. integ.rrima (J.L. Stew. ex Brandis) Rech. f., P. eurycarpa Yalt., P. khinjuk Stocks, P. lentiscus L. subsp. lentiscus, P. lentiscus subsp. emarg.nata (Eng..) al-saghir, P. mexicana Humb., Bonpl., & Kunth, P. X saportae Burnat, P. terebinthus L., P. vera L., and P. weinmannifolia Poiss. ex Franch. The g.nus is divided into two sections: section Pistacia and section Lentiscella. A key to the 14 taxa that have been recog.ized by this study is included. The new combination P. lentiscus subsp. emarg.nata (Eng..) al-saghir is made, and the names P. chinensis subsp. integ.rrima (J. L. Stew. ex Brandis) Rech. F., P. terebinthus L., and P. vera L. are lectotypified.

Immunohistochemical Localization of Asperg.llus and p53 in Human Lung.Tissues

Asperg.lli are filamentous fung. which can cause opportunistic infections in Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) patients. Asperg.lli can be found in human tissues either in the form of spores or hyphae. p53 is a tumor suppressor g.ne located in the short arm of chromosome 17. It is a potent transcriptional reg.lator of g.nes which are involved in many cellular activities including.cell cycle arrest, apoptosis and ang.og.nesis. A loss of tumor suppressor function of p53 is the most common event leading.to the development of human cancers. The rate by which p53 has a homolog. between different species has been reported from human to other vertebrates, it has been reported that it is available within Drosophila melanog.ster and C. eleg.ns [1] [2]. The aim of this study is to check if p53 is localized within Asperg.lli or not using.immunohistochemical techniques and study the relationship between Asperg.lli infection and p53 in human lung.tissues. 45 different samples of lung.tissues, diag.osed as being.none tumor, were taken randomly during.the year of 2003-2004 from the autopsy cases submitted to the forensic medicine center in Irbid, Jordan. The sample g.oup consisted of 12 females and 33 males. Labeled Streptavidin Biotin (LSAB) method and Mach-4 method were used to determine the Asperg.lli infection and p53. The results show that the Asperg.llus is presented in all used samples (100% of the infection) in the form of spores or hyphae and all infected samples have mutant p53 molecules (p53 was located in Asperg.llus spores and hyphae). According.to this study, it is safe to posit that the mutant p53 molecules may be used by Asperg.llus for its multiplication. Seeming.y it is a biolog.cal behavior of Asperg.llus to produce p53. The fate of the p53 is questioned, is it g.ing.to interact with the human cells initiating.cancer? Further experimental investig.tions are required to determine such pathway. Dodecyl alcohol(DDA) is a promising.solid-liquid phase chang. material(PCM) due to its favorable latent heat storag.(LHS) ***,the leakag. issue of PCM in a melted state during.the heating.period and low thermal conductivity restricts its utilization potential in thermal energ. storag.(TES) *** the same context,the present work aims to overcome the leakag. issue and improve the thermal conductivity of the *** this in mind,a novel leak-proof layered double hydroxide(LDH)/DDA composite PCM is proposed throug. a solution-based impreg.ation *** leak-proof impreg.ation ratio of the DDA impreg.ated within the cavities of the synthesized al/Fe-LDH was determined to be 60%.Detailed morpholog.cal,physicochemical,and thermal properties of the fabricated composite were studied by scanning.electron microscopy(SEM),Fourier transforms infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction(XRD)spectroscopy,differential scanning.calorimetry(DSC),thermalg.avimetric analysis(Tg.),and thermal cycling.*** results show that the LDH/DDA composite has a suitable phase chang. temperature(about 20℃) for passive solar thermal manag.ment of building.*** composite PCM showed hig. LHS enthalpy(about136 J/g.,g.od thermal stability,and cycling.LHS *** also showed nearly 152% hig.er thermal conductivity compared to that of pure DDA,ultimately reducing.the melting.and solidification time of the pure DDA by 44.9% and 45.5%,respectively.

Rog.UT: A Hybrid Deep Learning.Model for Detecting.Power Trapping.in Smart g.ids

Electricity theft is a widespread non-technical issue that has a neg.tive impact on both power g.ids and electricity *** hinders the economic g.owth of utility companies,poses electrical risks,and impacts the hig. energ. costs borne by *** development of smart g.ids is crucial for the identification of power theft since these systems create enormous amounts of data,including.information on client consumption,which may be used to identify electricity theft using.machine learning.and deep learning.***,there also exist different solutions such as hardware-based solutions to detect electricity theft that may require human resources and expensive ***-based solutions are presented in the literature to identify electricity theft but due to the dimensionality curse,class imbalance issue and improper hyper-parameter tuning.of such models lead to poor *** this research,a hybrid deep learning.model abbreviated as Rog.UT is proposed to detect electricity theft as amalicious and non-malicious *** key steps of the Rog.UT are data preprocessing.that covers the problem of class imbalance,feature extraction and final theft *** advanced-level models like RoBERTa is used to address the curse of dimensionality issue,the near miss for class imbalance,and transfer learning.for *** effectiveness of the Rog.UTis evaluated using.the dataset fromactual smartmeters.A sig.ificant number of simulations demonstrate that,when compared to its competitors,the Rog.UT achieves the best classification *** performance evaluation of the proposed model revealed exemplary results across *** accuracy achieved was 88%,with precision at an impressive 86%and recall reaching.84%.The F1-Score,a measure of overall performance,stood at 85%.Furthermore,themodel exhibited a noteworthyMatthew correlation coefficient of 78%and excelled with an area under the curve of 91%.

The optimal semi-analytical modeling.for the infinite-conductivity horizontal well performance under rectang.lar bounded reservoir based on a new instantaneous source function

The main objective of this study is to develop the optimal semi-analytical modeling.for the infiniteconductivity horizontal well performance under rectang.lar bounded reservoir based on a new instantaneous source function. The available semi-analytical infinite-conductivity models（ICMs） for horizontal well under rectang.lar bounded reservoir in literature were developed by applying.superposition of pressures in space（SPS）. A new instantaneous source function（i.e., instantaneous uniform-flux seg.entary source function under bounded reservoir） is derived to be used instead of SPS to develop the optimal semi-analytical *** new semi-analytical ICM is verified with ICM of Schlumberg.r [1] and with previous semi-analytical ICMs in terms of bottom hole pressure（BHP） profile and inflow rate distribution along.the wellbore. The model is also validated with real horizontal wells in terms of inflow rate distribution along.the wellbore. The results show that the developed model g.ves the optimal semi-analytical modeling.for the infinite-conductivity horizontal well performance under rectang.lar bounded reservoir. Besides that, hig. computationalefficiency and hig.-resolution of wellbore discretization have been achieved（i.e., wellbore seg.ent number could be tens of hundreds depending.on solution requirement）. The results also show that at pseudosteady state（PSS） flow reg.me, inflow rate distribution along.the wellbore by previous semi-analytical ICMs is stabilized U-shaped as performance of inflow rate distribution at late radial flow reg.me. Therefore, the previous semi-analytical ICMs are incorrectly modeling.inflow rate distribution at PSS flow reg.me due to the neg.tive influence of applying.SPS. The optimal semi-analytical ICM is in a g.neral form and real time domain,and can be applicable for 3D horizontal well and 2D vertical fracture well under infinite and rectang.lar bounded reservoirs, of uniform-flux and infinite-conductivity wellbore conditions at any time of
