BACKGROUND The relationship between diabetes mellitus(DM)and asthma is complex and can impact disease *** To explore the bidirectional influences between the two conditions on clinical outcomes and disease *** We systematically reviewed the literature on the relationship between DM and asthma,focusing on their impacts,mechanisms,and therapeutic *** studies were assessed,which investigated the effect of glycemic control on asthma outcomes,lung function,and *** study highlighted the role of specific diabetes medications in managing *** The results showed that poor glycemic control in diabetes can exacerbate asthma,increase hospitalizations,and reduce lung ***,severe asthma,especially in obese individuals,can complicate diabetes management and make glycemic control more *** diabetes-associated mechanisms,such as inflammation,microangiopathy,and oxidative stress,can exacerbate asthma and decrease lung *** diabetes medications exhibit anti-inflammatory effects that show promise in mitigating asthma *** The complex interrelationship between diabetes and asthma suggests bidirectional influences that affect disease course and *** and microvascular complications associated with diabetes may worsen asthma outcomes,while asthma severity,especially in obese individuals,complicates diabetes ***,the current research has limitations,and more diverse longitudinal studies are required to establish causal relationships and identify effective treatment strategies for individuals with both conditions.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO)has emerged as a vital circulatory life support measure for patients with critical cardiac or pulmonary conditions unresponsive to conventional *** allows blood to be extracted from a patient and introduced to a machine that oxygenates blood and removes carbon *** blood is then reintroduced into the patient’s circulatory *** process makes ECMO essential for treating various medical conditions,both as a standalone therapy and as adjuvant ***-venous(VV)ECMO primarily supports respiratory function and indicates respiratory ***,veno-arterial(VA)ECMO provides hemodynamic and respiratory support and is suitable for cardiac-related *** study reviews recent literature to elucidate the evolving role of ECMO in trauma care,considering its procedural intricacies,indications,contraindications,and associated ***,the use of ECMO in trauma patients,particularly for acute respiratory distress syndrome and cardiogenic shock,has demonstrated promising outcomes despite challenges such as anticoagulation management and complications such as acute kidney injury,bleeding,thrombosis,and *** studies have shown that VV ECMO was associated with significantly higher survival rates than conventional mechanical ventilation,whereas other studies have reported that VA ECMO was associated with lower survival rates than VV *** plays a critical role in managing trauma patients,particularly those with acute respiratory *** research is necessary to explore the full potential of ECMO in trauma *** should have a clear understanding of the indications and contraindications for the use of ECMO to maximize its benefits in treating trauma patients.

With the massive success of deep networks,there have been signi-cant efforts to analyze cancer diseases,especially skin *** this purpose,this work investigates the capability of deep networks in diagnosing a variety of dermoscopic lesion *** paper aims to develop and ne-tune a deep learning architecture to diagnose different skin cancer grades based on dermatoscopic ***-tuning is a powerful method to obtain enhanced classication results by the customized pre-trained ***,batch normalization,and hyperparameter optimization are performed for ne-tuning the proposed deep *** proposed ne-tuned ResNet50 model successfully classied 7-respective classes of dermoscopic lesions using the publicly available HAM10000 *** developed deep model was compared against two powerful models,i.e.,inceptionV3 and VGG16,using the Dice similarity coefcient(DSC)and the area under the curve(AUC).The evaluation results show that the proposed model achieved higher results than some recent and robust models.

Effect of small tool pin profiles on microstructures and mechanical properties of 6061 aluminum alloy by friction stir welding

The effect of small tool pin profiles on the microstructures and mechanical properties of 6061 aluminum alloy joints using friction stir welding （FSW） technique was investigated. Three different tool pin profiles： threaded tapered cylindrical （T1）, triangular （T2） and square （T3） were used to produce the joints. The results indicate that the weld joints are notably affected by joining with different tool pin profiles. The triangular tool pin profile produces thebest metallurgicaland mechanical weld properties compared with other tool pin profiles. Besides, the lowest tensile strength and microhardness are obtained for the joint friction stir welded with square tool pin profile. it is observed that the smaller tool pin profile and shoulder diameter lead to narrow region of heat affected zone （HAZ） and a desired level of softening. The fracture surface examination shows that the joints are also affected when welding with different types of tool pin profiles. The fracture surface shows that the triangular specimen fails with a ductile fracture mode during the tensile test, while the brittle fracture modes are observed in the joints fabricated with other tool pin profiles （T1 and T3）.

Unilateral hypoplastic kidney in adults:An experience of a tertiarylevel urology center

BACKGROUND Unilateral small-sized kidney is a radiological term referring to both the congenital and acquired causes of reduced kidney ***,the hypoplastic kidney may have peculiar clinical and radiological *** To evaluate the clinical presentations,complications,and management approaches of the radiologically diagnosed unilateral hypoplastic *** A retrospective review of the records of patients with a radiological diagnosis of unilateral hypoplastic kidney between July 2015 and June 2020 was done at Assiut Urology and Nephrology Hospital,Assiut University,*** A total of 33 cases were diagnosed to have unilateral hypoplastic kidney with a mean(range)age of 39.5±11.2(19-73)*** main clinical presentation was loin pain(51.5%),stone passer(9.1%),anuria(12.1%),accidental discovery(15.2%),or manifestations of urinary tract infections(12.1%).Computed tomography was the most useful tool for radiological ***,radioisotope scanning could be requested for verification of surgical interventions and nephrectomy *** occurred in 23(69.7%)cases and pyuria was detected in 22(66.7%)cases where the infection was documented by culture and sensitivity test in 19 *** the non-complicated cases were managed by assurance only(12.1%),nephrectomy(15.2%)was performed for persistent ***,symptomatic(27.3%)and endoscopic(45.6%)approaches were used for the management of correctable *** Unilateral hypoplastic kidney in adults has various complications that range from urinary tract infections to death from *** is mainly radiological and management is usually conservative or minimally invasive.

Breeding Enrichment of Genetic Variation of Grain Yield and its Attributes in Bread Wheat under Drought Stress and Well irrigation

Drought stress(DS)is one of the most critical environmental abiotic stresses for wheat production in the arid *** of high-yielding genotypes tolerant to DS can play a significant role in mitigation the negative impacts associated with *** the present study,generation means analysis(GMA)was used to study the performance of two crosses under well irrigation(Wi)and deficit irrigation[cross i(Line 44×Shandweel-1)and cross ii(Line 20×Sakha 93)].Significant differences were observed for days to heading(DH),days to maturity(DM),plant height(PH),spike length(SL),number of spikes per plant(NS/P),number of grains per spike(NG/S),thousand-grain weight(TGW),grain yield per plant(GY/P),and proline content(PC)in the six populations of the two crosses within each irrigation *** ii had early maturity and the highest PC,NS/P,TGW,and GY/P regardless of the irrigation *** i showed positive significant relative heterosis and heterobeltiosis for GY/P under the two irrigation *** inheritance of characters of cross i revealed additive,dominant,and epistatic effects,which varied with trait and *** genetic effects predominated in DH,SL,and PC,while non-additive were found in DM,NS/P,NG/S,and GY/***-sense heritability estimates(h^(2) n)were high for DH and PC,moderate to high for PH and SL,moderate for DM,NG/S,NS/P,and TGW,and low for GY/*** on different drought indices the populations BC_(1),BC_(2),F_(1),and P1 of cross ii and BC1 of cross i were more tolerant to drought ***,PC,TGW and DH can be used as selection indicators to improve wheat for drought tolerance in early generations and other yield components traits in late *** second cross(Line 20×Sakha 93)shows promise and is of interest to a drought tolerance breeding program,where wheat breeders can use recombinant breeding strategies to construct desirable drought stress *** and path coefficient revealed that TGW and PC were the main

Colonic lesion characterization in inflammatory bowel disease:A systematic review and meta-analysis

AiM To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis for the diagnostic accuracy of in vivo lesion characterization in colonic inflammatory bowel disease(iBD), using optical imaging techniques, including virtual chromoendoscopy(VCE), dye-based chromoendoscopy(DBC), magnification endoscopy and confocal laser endomicroscopy(CLE). METHODS We searched Medline, Embase and the Cochrane library. We performed a bivariate meta-analysis to calculate the pooled estimate sensitivities, specificities, positive and negative likelihood ratios(+LHR,-LHR), diagnostic odds ratios(DOR), and area under the SROC curve(AUSROC) for each technology group. A subgroup analysis was performed to investigate differences in real-time nonmagnified Kudo pit patterns(with VCE and DBC) and real-time *** We included 22 studies [1491 patients; 4674 polyps, of which 539(11.5%) were neoplastic]. Real-time CLE had a pooled sensitivity of 91%(95%Ci: 66%-98%), specificity of 97%(95%Ci: 94%-98%), and an AUSROC of 0.98(95%Ci: 0.97-0.99). Magnification endoscopy had a pooled sensitivity of 90%(95%Ci: 77%-96%)and specificity of 87%(95%Ci: 81%-91%). VCE had a pooled sensitivity of 86%(95%Ci: 62%-95%) and specificity of 87%(95%Ci: 72%-95%). DBC had a pooled sensitivity of 67%(95%Ci: 44%-84%) and specificity of 86%(95%Ci: 72%-94%). CONCLUSiON Real-time CLE is a highly accurate technology for differentiating neoplastic from non-neoplastic lesions in patients with colonic iBD. However, most CLE studies were performed by single expert users within tertiary centres, potentially confounding these results.

Drones are proving out as a valuable tool and growing quickly in the world of technological *** applications of these vehicles are spreading widely in the areas of remote sensing,real time monitoring,goods delivery,security,defense,surveillance,infrastructure ***,the intent behind creating this tool was remote *** drones will be the next big innovation and modification,which would have much wider applications especially in the field of infrastructure where it can reduce risks and lower *** direct evaluation techniques are tedious,and the information caught is frequently not led in a precise manner with the areas tested not being geographically correct and the resulting reports being delivered past the point of no *** were the reasons,which have increased the demand and usage of unmanned *** this research paper,we present critical review of main advancements of Drones in the area of transportation and *** present all the research related to civil applications in those areas and challenges including traffic monitoring,Bridge condition assessment,Roadway asset detection and many other applications related to infrastructure inspection *** paper also contributes with a discussion on the opportunities,which are opened,and the challenges that need to be *** from the case studies,it is reported that around 25%of the bridges in united states are deficient and need continuous monitoring for enhancements to prevent any *** vehicles could be a great help in monitoring these bridges and other important components of transportation,which can efficiently minimize the cost as well as the time spent on inspection for each of this component,as manual inspection requires labor and time which would be subsequently reduced by incorporating the usage of drones in the area of transportation.
