Multi-objective optimization of wastewater treatment using electrocoagulation

This work aims to develop a model that will improve the performance and energy efficiency of a novel electrocoagulation (EC) process utilized in wastewater treatment to extrapolate the findings to an industrial scale. Utilizing Design of experiments (DOE) allows us to maximize treatment efficiency while minimizing energy consumption. This evaluation was conducted by employing aluminum electrodes as sacrificial anodes. The main factors identified in preliminary experiments are the pH of the medium, the applied potential, and the treatment time. A three-level (33) factorial design was employed to examine the relationship between efficiency performance and energy consumption. Under optimal conditions, treatment efficiency is around 66% for biological oxygen demand within 5 days (BOD5), 98% for chemical oxygen demand (COD), associated with a minimum energy consumption of 2.39 kW center dot h center dot mg-1-COD. The parameters most significantly influenced by the mathematical models obtained were the potential or applied current, treatment time, and their interaction. The modeling results were also correlated with the experimental results and there were minimal discrepancies. A non-conventional hybrid numerical approach with multi-dimensional random sampling for cocaine abuse in Spain

This paper introduces a non-conventional approach with multi-dimensional random sampling to solve a cocaine abuse model with statistical probability. The mean Latin hypercube finite difference (MLHFD) method is proposed for the first time via hybrid integration of the classical numerical finite difference (FD) formula with Latin hypercube sampling (LHS) technique to create a random distribution for the model parameters which are dependent on time t. The LHS technique gives advantage to MLHFD method to produce fast variation of the parameters' values via number of multidimensional simulations (100, 1000 and 5000). The generated Latin hypercube sample which is random or non-deterministic in nature is further integrated with the FD method to complete one cycle of LHS-FD simulation iteration. This process is repeated until n final iterations of LHS-FD are obtained. The means of these n final solutions (MLHFD solutions) are tabulated, graphed and analyzed. The numerical simulation results of MLHFD for the SEiR model are presented side-by-side with deterministic solutions obtained from the classical FD scheme and homotopy analysis method with Pade approximation (HAM-Pade). The present MLHFD results are also compared with the previous non-deterministic statistical estimations from 1995 to 2015. Good agreement between the two is perceived with small errors. MLHFD method can be used to predict future behavior, range and prediction interval for the epidemic model solutions. The expected profiles of the cocaine abuse subpopulations are projected until the year 2045. Both the statistical estimations and the deterministic results of FD and HAM-Pade are found to be within the MLHFD prediction intervals for all the years and for all the subpopulations considered.

CFD investigation of the agitation in the desupersaturation during the wet-process phosphoric acid(WPPA)process

Desupersaturation is a complex cooling operation that involves hydrodynamic,thermal and mechanical *** process requires continuous agitation to avoid fouling problems and sludge *** current work aims to investigate the well mixedness in the desupersaturation tank for optimal *** this purpose,a multi-fluid CFD study was conducted based on the Euler–Euler modeling approach,considering a multiphase flow involving a liquid phase(phosphoric acid)and a poly-dispersed solid phase,i.e.a sludge with three different sizes where each size is considered as a separate ***,the hydrodynamic behavior of the flow within the agitated desupersaturator is analyzed through the investigation of the velocity fields as well as the power and pumping numbers,to determine both the agitator capacity to pump the flow and its power consumption during the ***,in order to assess the mixture homogeneity,we evaluated the solid suspension in the desupersaturation reactor following conventional methods and two new proposed methodologies:the first approach is to evaluate the suspension quality in the mixing system by compartment and the second consists on the assessment of the uniform convergence of the solid ***,we calculated the time required to achieve a full suspension at different solid *** other hand,we conducted a detailed analysis of the solid distribution dependency on the impeller rotational speed at different solid volume fraction,which allows a good understanding of the parameters controlling the homogenization in the desupersaturator.

Determination of “indeterminate score” measurements in lean nonalcoholic fatty liver disease patients from western Saudi Arabia

in this article, we study the solvability of nonlinear problem for p-Laplacian with nonlinear boundary conditions. We give some characterization of the first eigenvalue of an intermediary eigenvalne problem as simplicity, isolation and its strict monotonicity. Afterward, we character also the second eigenvalue and its strictly partial monotony. On the other hand, in some sense, we establish the non-resonance below the first and furthermore between the first and second eigenvalues of nonlinear Steklov-Robin.
