The nasopharyngeal swab for COVID-19 testing is generally considered safe;however, it is primarily performed by staff that may not completely understand the anatomy of the nasal cavity and nasopharynx. We report the treatment of a 48-year-old man who developed unilateral left rhinorrhea after a nasopharyngeal swab sample. It is aimed to draw attention to this complication that can be prevented with the appropriate technique during nasopharyngeal swab sampling.

This study deals with the valorization of natural residues into activated carbon prepared from waste“Baobab fruit shell”from the Fatick Region,***,after the preparation of the baobab shell,a chemical activation with orthophosphoric acid H3PO4(85%)was performed followed by pyrolysis at 530°*** eliminate possible carbonization residues,the activated carbons were impregnated in 0.1 M hydrochloric acid and/or soda solutions and then washed thoroughly with distilled water to obtain a pH between 6.5 and *** latter were then dried in an oven at 105°C for 24 h.A characterization was carried out to determine the moisture content,the ash content,the iodine and methylene blue indices,the surface functions and the pH at zero charge point(pHpzc).The moisture and ash contents were 1.87%and 0.72%,*** iodine and peroxide indices obtained were 939,09 mg/g and 575.73 mg/g,*** function analysis by Boehm’s method showed that the acidic functions were higher than the basic functions and their pHpzc was lower than *** best efficiency of methylene blue removal was 99.75%and was obtained with a mass of 0.150 g of activated carbon,pH equal to 10,an initial concentration of methylene blue of 200 mg/L and a contact time of 35 min.

Background: MicroRNAs (miRs) are noncoding gene regulators that may have a role as diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Aim: To measure the blood levels of miR-146a, miR-126 and miR-30a in Sudanese SLE patients and to investigate their potential role in disease pathogenesis and utility as biomarkers for SLE. Material and Methods: A total of 48 SLE patients and 20 matched healthy individuals were enrolled in this study. SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI) was assessed. The blood levels of miR-146a, miR-126 and miR-30a were determined by Real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in all participants. Γ-INF and IL-2 were analyzed by elISA, and CD markers were used in flow cytometry. Results: The mean age of the patients was 31.5 ± 8.5 years with disease duration > 5 years. In SLE patients, the mean blood level fold changes of miR-146a (0.33 ± 0.277;P 0.305) compared to controls. Down regulation of miR-146a increase expression of γ-INF (P ely, miR-30a was insignificantly associated with SLE disease (P value > 0.05) as no differences between the SLE patients and healthy control. Conclusion: Circulating miR-146a and miR-126 could be a potential noninvasive biomarker in SLE. This study provides an overview of the current state of research on the role of miRNAs in the immune pathogenesis and regulation of SLE. Further studies are needed in miRNAs profiling expressions of SLE diseases.

Background: Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) is currently employed as a major arm of treatment in multiforme glioblastoma (GBM). The present study aimed to compare 3D-CRT with IMRT to assess tumor volume coverage and OAR sparing for the treatment of malignant gliomas. Materials and methods: We assessed 22 anonymized patients datasets with High Grade Glioblastoma who had undergone post-operative Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) and 3D Conformal Radiotherapy (3D-CRT), This study will compare and contrast treatment plans Rapidarc and 3D-CRT to determine which technology improves significantly dosimetric parameters. Results: Plans will be assessed by reviewing the coverage of the PTV using mean, maximum and minimum doses while the OAR doses will be compared using the maximal doses for each, as set out in the QUANTEC dose limits. Chemotherapy and targeted therapy remain the cornerstone of treatment of locally advanced and metastatic non-small cells lung cancer (NSCLC). Given the intrinsic chemoresistance of tumor cells, new treatment options have been developped. The knowledge of the molecular mechanisms of tumor biology, and signal transduction pathways activating cancer cells led to the identification of a new targeted therapy such as Crizotinib. The small molecule Crizotinib is a selective inhibitor of the receptor tyrosine kinase ALK (anaplastic lymphoma kinase) and its oncogenic variants (ALK fusion gene and some mutations of ALK). Phases I and II trials showed the efficacy of Crizotinib in the treatment of locally advanced and metastatic NSCLC expressing ALK. Thereafter, randomized Phase III trial confirmed the significant superiority of Crizotinib versus standard chemotherapy in terms of progression free survival and objective response with good tolerance;therefore, it has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as the standard treatment for locally advanced and metastatic ALK-positive NSCLC.

Macrophage activation syndrome (MAS), in its secondary form, often complicates rheumatic diseases but rarely constitutes a mode of revelation. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a systemic autoimmune disease of unknown etiology that primarily affects women in adulthood. MAS is a serious condition that may be the first presentation of SLE. Here, we report the case of a 4-year-old female with MAS as the primary manifestation of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). In this case, we outline the characteristics of a complex case of SLE that was initially accompanied with MAS, and also review the literature to discuss the clinical, biological, and therapeutic aspects of this condition.

Objective:To assess the acute and subacute toxicity as well as the phytochemical composition of two extracts and three fractions of Ammi majus ***:The aqueous extracts were prepared separately by maceration for 48 h and by infusion for 1 h,while the fractions were prepared by the Soxhlet extractor,successively employing cyclohexane,ethyl acetate,and *** acute toxicity study was carried out in accordance with the OECD N°423 guideline at a single dose(2000 mg/kg)in mice for 14 *** subacute toxicity study was performed by a daily oral administration of 250 mg/kg 2 for 10 d and 100 mg/kg doses for 28 *** screening was performed using staining and precipitation reactions,while the chemical characterization of some analytes was detected by HPLC-MS/MS ***:In the acute toxicity study,no signs of toxicity such as convulsion,salivation,diarrhea,sleep and coma were observed during 30 minutes and 14 days,so the lethal dose was higher than 2000 mg/kg for each extract and *** subacute toxicity results showed that at a dose of 250 mg/kg,61.10%of the animals died and the rest developed *** the other hand,at a dose of 100 mg/kg,all the animals were still alive after 28 days,with no morbidity and the biochemical parameters were normal with no abnormalities in the liver,kidneys and *** screening indicated the presence of flavonoids,tannins,coumarins,and free quinones and the absence of alkaloids and ***:The extracts and fractions of Ammi majus *** not toxic in the short and long term with a varied chemical *** tests on animals other than rodents and in the long term(more than 28 days)are needed to further confirm the safety of Ammi majus extracts.

The baobab, Adansonia digitata L. plays an important role in the economy of local populations. The oil from the seeds of the baobab fruit is nowadays highly prized because of its numerous cosmetic and therapeutic applications and its composition of unsaturated fatty acids, sterols and tocopherols. However, unlike refined oils, locally extracted baobab oil has not undergone purification operations to ensure its quality. Only a filtration on special cloths is carried out after decantation. Indeed, the oil obtained after pressing is cloudy because of the presence of various impurities. It therefore requires treatment operations to make it more attractive and of higher quality. Therefore, in order to provide innovative solutions to local companies to improve the quality of vegetable oils, a study of clarification (treatment) of crude oil is necessary. An experimental device has been developed in the laboratory. It includes a glass column and a filter bed of dune sand and activated carbon. This study has shown the efficiency of the experimental device. Indeed, the activated carbon, thanks to its adsorbing power, has allowed a significant decrease in turbidity at the 5% threshold, from 14.61 NTU for the raw oil to 0.08 NTU for the oil filtered on 3% carbon and 0.033 NTU for the oil filtered on 5% carbon. That is to say an abatement higher than 95%. This decrease in turbidity could be correlated with the decrease in brown index from 187.39a for the initial crude oil to 128.53d for the oil treated with 3% activated carbon versus 187.59a for the oil filtered on cloths. The lowest brown index was observed with the filtration using 5% activated carbon (35.99b). Thus, for the yellowness index, only the filtration on 5% charcoal allowed to obtain a significant decrease in yellowness. Objectives: To bring out the clinical, biological, and therapeutic aspects of pregnant women and women in the post-partum infected by the SARS COVID-19 in the University hospital of Marrakesh. To study the vertical transmission of the virus if it exists, and the impact on the newborn. Methods: It is a prospective observational study on women infected by COVID-19 virus admitted in the gynecology obstetrics department of the University hospital of Marrakesh during the period between March 1st and July 15th. Data collection was insured thanks to a customized form containing the medical history, clinical criteria, biological and, radiological findings as well as the treatment and maternal and neo-natal outcomes. Results: The clinical, biological and radiological presentation of COVID-19 infection in pregnant and post-partum women doesn’t seem to be different from general population. Pregnant and post-partum women don’t seem to be more at risk to develop severe features of the disease. Vertical transmission via placenta is possible.
