Butein,a rare chalcone found in the toxic plant Toxicodendron vernicifluum,has been shown to regulate glucose homeostasis via inhibition of the nuclear factor kappa-B kinase subunit beta(IKKβ)/nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB)pathway in the ***,we investigated whether the nonpoisonous plant Dahlia pinnata could be a source of butein as a potential treatment for type 2 diabetes(T2D).In mice fed a high-fat diet(HFD)to induce glucose intolerance,an oral *** petal extract improved glucose tolerance at doses of 3.3 mg/kg body weight and 10 mg/kg body ***,this effect was not mediated by butein alone but by butein combined with the closely related flavonoids,sulfuretin and/or ***,the extract improved systemic insulin *** of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase to block insulin signaling in the brain abrogated the glucoregulatory effect of the orally administered *** extract reinstated central insulin signaling and normalized astrogliosis in the hypothalamus of HFD-fed *** NF-κB reporter zebrafish to determine IKKβ/NF-κB activity,a potent anti-inflammatory action of the extract was found.A randomized controlled crossover clinical trial on participants with predia-betes or T2D confirmed the safety and efficacy of the extract in *** conclusion,we identified an extract from the flower petals of *** as a novel treatment option for T2D,potentially targeting the central regulation of glucose homeostasis as a root cause of the disease.

Magnetic Field Effect and Heat Transfer of Nanofluids within Waveform Microchannel

In this research,a numerical study of mixed convection of non-Newtonian fluid and magnetic field effect along a vertical wavy surface was investigated.A simple coordinate transformation to transform wavy surface to a flat surface is employed.A cubic spline collocation numerical method is employed to analyze transformed *** effect of various parameters such as Reynolds number,volume fraction 0-,Hartmann number,and amplitude of wave length was evaluated in improving the performance of a wavy *** to the presented results,the sinusoidal shape of the microchannel has a direct impact on heat *** increasing the microchannel wave amplitude,the Nusselt number has *** the other hand,increasing the heat transfer in the higher wavelength ratio corrugated channel is seen as an effective method of increasing the heat transfer,especially at higher Reynolds *** results showed that with increasing Hartmann numbers,the flow line near thewall becomesmore regular and,according to the temperature gradient created,theNusselt number growth.

Software Effort Prediction Using Ensemble Learning Methods

Software Cost Estimation (SCE) is an essential requirement in producing software these days. Genuine accurate estimation requires cost-and-efforts factors in delivering software by utilizing algorithmic or Ensemble Learning Methods (ELMs). Effort is estimated in terms of individual months and length. Overestimation as well as underestimation of efforts can adversely affect software development. Hence, it is the responsibility of software development managers to estimate the cost using the best possible techniques. The predominant cost for any product is the expense of figuring effort. Subsequently, effort estimation is exceptionally pivotal and there is a constant need to improve its accuracy. Fortunately, several efforts estimation models are available;however, it is difficult to determine which model is more accurate on what dataset. Hence, we use ensemble learning bagging with base learner Linear regression, SMOReg, MLP, random forest, REPTree, and M5Rule. We also implemented the feature selection algorithm to examine the effect of feature selection algorithm BestFit and Genetic Algorithm. The dataset is based on 499 projects known as China. The results show that the Mean Magnitude Relative error of Bagging M5 rule with Genetic Algorithm as Feature Selection is 10%, which makes it better than other algorithms.

Optimal Piling Network Corrosion Protection System for Al-zubair Harbor

Cathodic protection is an effective electrochemical technique for preventing corrosion of metallic structures, for large structures like piles network impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) system is usually preferred. The main aim of this study is to obtain the optimum protection potential that would provide a full cathodic protection for steel piles net-work immersed in sea water at Al-zubair harbor. The effect of one immeasurable factor (path of anode (χ1)) and two measurable factors (position of anode (χ2) and voltage of power supply (χ3)) on protection potential are studied. Each factor has three different levels (high, medium, and low). Twenty-seven experiments were conducted based on a full factorial design of experiments. The results show that, a sufficient protection for three cathodes can be provided through the electrical circuit connecting them within the appropriate geometric *** protection potential is icreased with increasing the voltage of power supply and decreasing of distance between the anode and cathodes (piles network).

Well Log Petrophysics of the Cretaceous Pay Zones in zubair Field, Basrah, South Iraq

Discovered in 1949 with a rate of (195,000) bbl/day from pay zones in Mishrif and zubair Formation, the expected production of zubair field is anticipated to be 1125 million bbl/day. Despite this production history, there is a major deficiency in detailed petrophysical analysis of the producing zones. In the present study well log data of 7 wells, selected from numerous wells, are investigated in details to examine the reservoir properties and characterize the reservoir architecture. The petrophysical analysis of Mishrif Formation indicated two or three pay zones. Lithologically, all zones of Mishrif Formation are dominantly clean limestone to dolomitic limestone with zone 2 and 3 reporting higher dolomitic content (20% to 40%) compared to zone 1 (6% to 13%). Mishrif pay zones indicated a relatively good porosity (18% - 24%) with zone 2 predominant in secondary porosity associating dolomitization processes. In zubair Formation one pay zone is identified but locally could separate into two zones. The clay content is generally low with average content between 2% and 3% while the average porosity showed slightly better values in zone 1 (~0.20) compared to average porosity of zone 2 (0.17) that is rich in silt content associating deposition at a relatively deeper parts of the shelf. The average water saturation shows distinct lower values that vary between 15% and 18.7%. The petrophysical results are statistically analyzed and property histograms and crossplots are constructed to investigate mutual relationships. Such analysis is essential for understanding the reservoir architecture and calculations of reservoir capacity for future development.
