Novel Framework for an Intrusion Detection System Using Multiple Feature Selection Methods Based on Deep Learning

Intrusion detection systems (IDSs) are deployed to detect anomalies in real time. They classify a network’s incoming traffic as benign or anomalous (attack). An efficient and robust IDS in software-defined networks is an inevitable component of network security. The main challenges of such an IDS are achieving zero or extremely low false positive rates and high detection rates. Internet of Things (IoT) networks run by using devices with minimal resources. This situation makes deploying traditional IDSs in IoT networks unfeasible. Machine learning (ML) techniques are extensively applied to build robust IDSs. Many researchers have utilized different ML methods and techniques to address the above challenges. The development of an efficient IDS starts with a good feature selection process to avoid overfitting the ML model. This work proposes a multiple feature selection process followed by classification. In this study, the Software-defined networking (SDN) dataset is used to train and test the proposed model. This model applies multiple feature selection techniques to select high-scoring features from a set of features. Highly relevant features for anomaly detection are selected on the basis of their scores to generate the candidate dataset. Multiple classification algorithms are applied to the candidate dataset to build models. The proposed model exhibits considerable improvement in the detection of attacks with high accuracy and low false positive rates, even with a few features selected.

DDoS attacks in the Internet of Things(IoT)technology have increased significantly due to its spread adoption in different industrial *** purpose of the current research is to propose a novel technique for detecting botnet attacks in user-oriented IoT ***,an attack identification technique inspired by Recurrent Neural networks and Bidirectional Long Short Term Memory(BLRNN)is presented using a unique Deep Learning(DL)*** text identification and translation of attack data segments into tokenized form,word embedding is *** performance analysis of the presented technique is performed in comparison to the state-of-the-art DL ***,Accuracy(98.4%),Specificity(98.7%),Sensitivity(99.0%),F-measure(99.0%)and Data loss(92.36%)of the presented BLRNN detection model are determined for identifying 4 attacks over Botnet(Mirai).The results show that,although adding cost to each epoch and increasing computation delay,the bidirectional strategy is more superior technique model over different data instances.

Viral diseases transmitted by mosquitoes are emerging public health problems across the *** is considered to be the most significant mosquito-oriented ***,the present study provides an effective architecture for Dengue Virus Infection *** proposed system involves a 4-level architecture for the prediction and prevention of dengue infection *** architectural levels including Dengue Information Acquisition level,Dengue Information Classification level,DengueMining and Extraction level,and Dengue-Prediction and Decision Modeling level enable an individual to periodically monitor his/her probabilistic dengue fever *** prediction process is carried out so that proactive measures are taken *** predictive purposes,probabilistic analysis in terms of Level of Dengue Fever(LoDF)was carried out using the Adaptive NeuroFuzzy Inference *** on the Self-Organized Mapping procedure,the presence of LoDF is *** simulations on datasets of 16 individuals cumulating to 32,255 instances were conducted to test the effectiveness of the presented *** comparison to other decision-modeling methods,significantly improved results in form of classification efficacy,a temporal delay,prediction effectiveness,reliability,and stability were reported for the presented model.

Objectives:To determine the association of Human leukocyte antigen B(HLA‑B)alleles with ankylosing spondylitis and the allelic association of HLAB27 with endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidase 1(ERAP1)single-nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)rs30187 in patients with ankylosing spondylitis(AS).Methods:We studied 48 consecutively enrolled well-defined AS patients and 48 healthy controls recruited from the outpatient clinic of the rheumatology department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University(BSMMU),Dhaka,*** genotype HLA-B alleles from peripheral blood DNA,we designed sequence-specific primers for polymerase chain ***'s sequencing method was used to detect the ERAP1 rs30187 *** HLA-B allele distributions were compared between cases and *** infer an allelic association between HLA-B27 and ERAP1,allele distributions from both loci were compared using ***-squared test or Fisher's exact test was used to quantify the association,and their strength of association was tested by odds ratio(OR)with 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:The frequency of HLA-B27 was found to be higher in AS patients(60.4%)than in healthy controls(8.3%).HLA-B27 allele had an OR of 16.8(95%CI=5.2–54.4)for the development of ***,4%of AS patients had both HLA-B27 and *** significant association was found between ERAP1 rs30187 SNP and HLA-B27 in patients with AS(OR=1.7,95%CI=0.5–5.6).Conclusions:HLA-B27 was significantly associated with AS in patients in ***,no association between ERAP1 rs30187 SNP and HLA-B27 was observed.

Effect of medicinal plants on Moraxella cattarhalis

Objective:To determine the antimoraxella activity of Ethiopian medicinal plants extracts. Methods:Two clinical isolates of Moraxella cattarhalis(***) with different antibiotic sensitivity pattern were tested to determine their susceptibility to garlic[Allium sativum(A. sativum)],bark of cinnamon[Cinnamomum zeylanicum(***)],clove[Syzygium aromaticum(***)],and leaves of avocado[Persea americana(***)], rosemary[Rosmarinus of ficinalis(*** ficinalis)]and prickly poppy[Argemone mexicana(A. mexicana)].Disk diffusion assay and broth dilution method were used to measure zone of inhibition,minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of plant extracts against ***:Both the strains of *** exhibited similar sensitivities to the extracts of medicinal *** activity was exhibited only by garlic,avocado leaves and *** was found to be more antagonistic to *** than cinnamon and *** and avocado leaves have shown similar MIC(30 mg/mL) where as their zone of inhibition(15 and 11 mm,respectively) were different. Conclusions:Garlic,cinnamon and avocado leaves extracts represents alternative source of natural antimicrobial substances for use in clinical practice for the treatment of cases of M. *** research on the effects of these extracts on *** can be rewarding to pursue in the search for new broad spectrum antimicrobial agents.

Destructive and non-destructive evaluation of concrete for optimum sand to aggregate volume ratio

Aggregates are the biggest contributor to concrete volume and are a crucial parameter in dictating its mechanical *** such,a detailed experimental investigation was carried out to evaluate the effect of sand-toaggregate volume ratio(s/a)on the mechanical properties of concrete utilizing both destructive and non-destructive testing(employing UPV(ultrasonic pulse velocity)measurements).For investigation,standard cylindrical concrete samples were made with different s/a(0.36,0.40,0.44,0.48,0.52,and 0.56),cement content(340 and 450 kg/m^(3)),water-to-cement ratio(0.45 and 0.50),and maximum aggregate size(12 and 19 mm).The effect of these design parameters on the 7,14,and 28 d compressive strength,tensile strength,elastic modulus,and UPV of concrete were *** careful analysis demonstrates that aggregate proportions and size need to be optimized for formulating mix designs;optimum ratios of s/a were found to be 0.40 and 0.44 for the maximum aggregate size of 12 and 19 mm,respectively,irrespective of the W/C(water-to-cement)and cement content.

Meta‐analysis and candidate gene mining of low‐phosphorus tolerance in maize

Plants with tolerance to low-phosphorus （P） can grow better under Iow-P conditions, and understanding of genetic mechanisms of Iow-P tolerance can not only facilitate identifying relevant genes but also help to develop Iow-P tolerant cultivars. QTL meta-analysis was conducted after a comprehensive review of the reports on O, TL mapping for Iow-P tolerance-related traits in maize. Meta-analysis pro- duced 23 consensus QTL （cQTL）, 17 of which located in similar chromosome regions to those previously reported to influence root traits. Meanwhile, candidate gene mining yielded 215 genes, 22 of which located in the cQTL regions. These 22 genes are homologous to 14 functionally characterized genes that were found to participate in plant Iow-P tolerance, including genes encoding miR399s, Pi transporters and purple acid phosphatases. Four cQTL loci （cQTL2-L cQTLS-3, cQTL6-2, and cQTL10-2） may play important roles for low-P tolerance because each contains more original QTL and has better consistency across previous reports.

In the contemporary era of technological advancement,smartphones have become an indispensable part of individuals’daily lives,exerting a pervasive *** paper presents an innovative approach to passenger countingonbuses throughthe analysis ofWi-Fi signals emanating frompassengers’mobile *** study seeks to scrutinize the reliability of digital Wi-Fi environments in predicting bus occupancy levels,thereby addressing a crucial aspect of public *** proposed system comprises three crucial elements:Signal capture,data filtration,and the calculation and estimation of passenger *** pivotal findings reveal that the system demonstrates commendable accuracy in estimating passenger counts undermoderate-crowding conditions,with an average deviation of 20%from the ground truth and an accuracy rate ranging from 90%to 100%.This underscores its efficacy in scenarios characterized by moderate levels of ***,in densely crowded conditions,the system exhibits a tendency to overestimate passenger numbers,occasionally doubling the actual *** acknowledging the need for further research to enhance accuracy in crowded conditions,this study presents a pioneering avenue to address a significant concern in public *** implications of the findings are poised to contribute substantially to the enhancement of bus operations and service quality.
