The development of bio-sourced materials is essential to ensuring sustainable construction;it is considered a locomotive of the green ***,it is an abundant material in our country,to which very little attention is being *** work aims to valorize the waste of the trunks of banana trees to be used in ***,the physicochemical properties of the fiber,such as the percentage of crystallization and its morphology,have been determined by X-ray diffraction tests and scanning electron microscopy to confirm the potential and the impact of the mode of drying on the quality of the banana fibers,with the purpose to promote the use of this material in ***,the results obtained with the gypsum matrix allowed us to note a preponderant improvement in the composite’s thermal properties thanks to the variation of the banana fiber ***,the impact of the nature of the banana fiber distribution(either fiber mixed in matrix or fiber series model)on the flexural and compressive strengths of the composites was *** results obtained indicate that the insulation gain reaches up to 40%.it depends on the volume fraction and type of distribution of the banana ***,the thermal inertia of the composites developed,represented by thermal diffusivity and thermal effusivity,was *** indicate a gain of 40%and 25%,respectively,in terms of thermal diffusivity and thermal effusivity of the developed composites compared to plaster *** the mechanical properties,the flexural strength depends on the percentage of the volume fraction of banana fibers used,and it can reach 20%more than the flexural strength of plaster;nevertheless,there is a significant loss in terms of the compressive strength of the studied *** results obtained are confirmed by the microstructure of the fiber *** fact,the morphology of the banana fibers was improved by the drying *** reduces the amorphous area an

Scour hole reduction at a diversion channel junction using different entrance edge shapes

in the current study,the effect of the entrance edge shape on the scour hole in the diversion junction region was experimentally *** investigation has considered three entrance modelsrounded edge shapes on one or both sides of the diversion channel entrance-with five different inlet edge radius ratios(rr) of 25%,37.5%,50%,62.5%,and 75% and five different diversion discharge ratios(Qr)of 7.5%,12.5%,17.5%,22.5%,and 30%.The results have found the direct relation between Qrand the scour depth to the diversion channel water depth ratio(ds/yb).Moreover,the use of a rounded edge shape on one or both sides of the diversion channel entrance instead of a sharp shape results in a reduction in scour depth to diversion channel water depth ratio(ds/yb) when the Qris greater than 20%.The results also indicated that the largest decrease in the scour coefficient(Kds) for the model with a rounded downstream edge compared with the sharp edge diversion channel entrance shape was 22% at a discharge ratio of 22.5% and an edge radius ratio of 37.5%.in addition,the entrance shape model with a rounded edge at the upstream outperformed other models in scour reduction with an average of all experiments of 5.77%.Finally,empirical relations for estimating scour depth for different rounded edge models in terms of the effective dimensionless parameters were established with coefficients of determination(R2) of not less than 0.853.

A sensitive and selective method employing chemiluminescence(CL)coupled with flow injection(Fi)is reported for nalbuphine hydrochloride(NAL)assay in pharmaceutical *** enhancement effect of NAL on the CL reaction between tris(2,2′-bipyridyl)ruthenium(ii)chloride-diperiodatocuprate(iii){Ru[(bpy)_(3)]^(2+)-Cu(iii)complex}in acidic medium is used as analytical *** optimal conditions of the CL reaction were sulfuric acid 1.0×10^(−3) mol/L,Ru[(bpy)s]2+7.5×10^(−5) mol/L,Cu(iii)/Ag(iii)complexes 4.0×10^(−4)/5.0×10^(−4) mol/L,sample loop volume of 120µL and flow rate of 2.5 mL/*** sensitivities of the method in terms of detection(S/N=3)and quantification(S/N=10)limits are 5×10^(−4) and 0.001 ppm(1 ppm=1 mg/L),*** linear response of the instrument in the form of CL intensity with respect to NAL concentration is over the range 0.001-15.0 ppm(R^(2)=0.9999)with relative standard deviation from 0.8%to 3.2%and injection throughput of 120 injection/*** applications of the method include the quantitative analysis of NAL in pharmaceutical injection *** and the average results of the proposed method are not significantly different from the results of a reported method by applying F-and paired student *** most likely CL reaction mechanism is written in accordance with spectrophotometric and CL studies.

isolated antibody to hepatitis B core antigen in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection

AiM： To evaluate the prevalence of isolated anti-HBc in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus （HCV） infection, and its relation to disease severity. METHODS： We screened all patients with chronic HCV infection referred to King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center for hepatitis B surface antigen （HBsAg）, antibody to hepatitis B surface antigen （anti- HBs）, and anti-HBc. One hundred and sixty nine patients who tested negative for both HBsAg and anti-HBs were included in this study. RESULTS： Pathologically, 59 had biopsy-proven cirrhosis and 110 had chronic active hepatitis （CAH）. Of these 169 patients, 85 （50.3%） tested positive for anti-HBc. Patients with CAH had significantly higher prevalence of isolated anti-HBc than patients with cirrhosis, 71 （6d.5%） and 14 （23.7%） respectively （P 〈 0.001）. Twenty-five patients were tested for HBV DNA by qualitative PCR. The test was positive in 3 of them （12%; occult HBV infection）. CONCLUSiON： isolated anti-HBc alone is common in Saudi patients with chronic HCV infection, and is significantly more common in those with CAH than those with cirrhosis. Therefore, a screening strategy that only tests for HBsAg and anti-HBs in these patients will miss a large number of individuals with isolated anti-HBc, who may be potentially infectious.

There is an increasing interest in cross flow turbines(also known as Banki turbines) for small and low head applications because of their simple structure as well as low capital and maintenance *** present work aims at implementing the direct drive turbine(DDT) of cross flow type for wave power generation.A numerical wave tank was used to simulate the waves and after obtaining the desired wave properties;the augmentation channel plus the front guide nozzle and rear chamber were integrated to the numerical wave *** waves in the numerical wave tank were generated by a piston type wave maker which was located at the wave tank *** inlet which was modeled as a plate wall moved sinusoidally with the general function x = asinω *** augmentation channel consisted of a front nozzle,rear nozzle and an internal fluid region which represented the turbine *** front and rear nozzles were geometrically the *** different front guide nozzle configurations were studied:a standard guide nozzle which was originally attached to the augmentation channel and two other front guide nozzles of different *** purpose of this study is to observe how the front guide nozzle shape influences the flow downstream,mainly in the augmenta-tion channel,water power and the first stage energy *** analysis was performed using a commercial CFD code *** results of the flow in the augmentation channel for the three front guide nozzles are presented in this paper.

in developed and developing countries, breast cancer is one of the leading forms of cancer affecting women alike. As a consequence of growing lifeexpectancy, increasing urbanization and embracing Western lifestyles, the highprevalence of this cancer is noted in the developed world. This paper aims todevelop a novel model that diagnoses Breast Cancer by using heterogeneous datasets. The model can work as a strong decision support system to help doctors tomake the right decision in diagnosing breast cancer patients. The proposed modelis based on three datasets to develop three sub-models. Each sub-model worksindependently. The final diagnosis decision is taken by the three sub-models independently. The power of the model comes from the diversity checks of patientsand this reduces the risk of wrong diagnosing. The model has been developedby conducting intensive experiments. Several classification algorithms were usedto select the best one in each sub-model. As the final results, the sub-modelaccuracies were 72%, 74% and 97%.
