Cytotoxic activity and phytochemical analysis of Arum palaestinum Boiss.

Objective: To evaluate the in vitro cytotoxic activity of the fractionated extract as well as isolated compounds of Arum palaestinum Boiss.(A. palaestinum)(black calla lily), and to identify the volatile components which may be responsible for the potential antitumor ***: A. palaestinum was collected from its natural habitats and subjected to phytochemical analysis for separation of pure compounds. In vitro cytotoxic activity was investigated against four human carcinoma cell lines Hep2, He La, Hep G2 and MCF7 for the fractionated extract and isolated compounds. While, the diethyl ether fraction was subjected to GC–MS analysis as it exhibited the most potent cytotoxic effect to evaluate the active constituents responsible for the cytotoxic ***: Four flavonoid compounds were isolated(luteolin, chrysoeriol, isoorientin,isovitexin) from the diethyl ether and ethyl acetate. The extracts and the pure isolated compounds showed a significant high antiproliferative activity against all investigated cell lines. The GC–MS analysis revealed the separation and identification of 15 compounds representing 95.01% of the extract and belonging to different groups of chemical ***: The present study is considered to be the first report on the cytotoxic activities carried out on different selected fractions and pure compounds of A. palaestinum to provide evidences for its strong antitumor activities. In addition,chrysoeriol and isovitexin compounds were isolated for the first time from the studied taxa.

This study was conducted to investigate the properties of Pr3+-Dy3+doped Zn2Y-type hexaferrite for potential technological applications.X-ray diffraction（XRD）,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR） and field-emission scanning electron microscopy（FESEM） were used to analyze structural *** crystallite size in the synthesized samples varies between 57.54 and 68.57 *** vibrational bands at 400 and 600 cm-1,common to all hexaferrites,were confirmed through *** FESEM analysis reveals an agglomeration of magnetic grains and a decrease in the average grain size from 1.24 to1.06 μ*** M-H loops show that,with x values of 0.0,0.1,and 0.2,the saturation magnetization is determined to be 34.76,34.23,and 32.52 emu/g,*** corresponding coercivity values are21.24,30.39,and 33.99 ***-visible spectroscopy using Tauc theory reveals an increase in the optical band gap from 2.32 to 2.50 eV,indicating a tunable energy band structure by incorporating Pr3+-Dy3+*** dielectric constant increases,whereas AC conductivity decreases with increased Pr3+-Dy3+*** obtained results suggest the potential suitability of these materials for various technological applications.

The Bikaner-Nagaur and Barmer Basins(Rajasthan)are the most important petroliferous sedimentary basins in *** over a decade,the exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons in these ***-Eocene age rocks bear organic-rich sediments in these basins,including lignite and carbonaceous shale *** present research investigates the source rock properties,petroleum potential and thermal maturity of the carbonaceous shale partings from the lignite mines of Gurha(Bikaner-Nagaur Basin)and Kapurdi(Barmer Basin)using petrographical and geochemical *** carbonaceous shales have high organic matter(OM),with considerable total organic carbon(TOC)contents ranging from 13%to 39%.Furthermore,they contain hydrogen-rich kerogen,including types II and II/III,as evidenced by the Rock-Eval and elemental analysis *** existence of these kerogen types indicates the abundance of reactive(vitrinite and liptinite)***,the carbonaceous shales from the Bikaner–Nagaur Basin have oil generation potentials,with a high hydrogen index(up to 516 mg HC/g TOC)and a H/C ratio(up to 1.5)along with a significant presence of oil-prone liptinitic *** from the geochemical and petrological results,the studied shales have low huminite reflectance(0.31%–0.48%),maximum temperature(S_(2) peak;Tmax)between 419℃ and 429℃,and low production index values(PI:0.01–0.03).These results indicate that these carbonaceous shales contain immature OM,and thereby,they cannot yet release commercial amount of *** immaturity level in the studied outcrop section is due to the shallow burial *** proxies further indicate the presence of both oil and gas-prone source rocks.

Comparative Analysis of Dietary Fat Intake among Female University Students in Riyadh: A Cross-Sectional Assessment of Health Sciences versus Non-Health Sciences Disciplines

Background: In the global burden of non-communicable diseases, the top slot among them all is occupied by various cardiovascular diseases (CVD), which also claim primacy in mortality rates. Generally speaking, the pathophysiological pathway frequently involves either (or a combination of) elevated serum cholesterol levels, predominantly attributed to dietary patterns characterized by extremely high levels of saturated and trans-fat consumption. Day-to-day nutritional epidemiology among university students suggests that they represent a crucial demographic for the study of preventive interventions. Objective: This in-depth study and investigation were specifically aimed to quantitatively assess and compare prevailing patterns of dietary fat consumption between female students enrolled in health sciences and non-health sciences programs at major universities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Methodology: This cross-sectional study was comprised of 434 Saudi female university students (age range: 18 - 25 years), utilizing a validated Block Dietary Fat Screener accompanied by anthropometric measurements and comprehensive demographic data collection. The sampling methodology consisted of a snowball technique that was spread across three major academic institutions in Riyadh. Results: Statistical analysis revealed a significant association between academic specialization and patterns of dietary fat consumption (p = 0.012). Paradoxically, students of health science exhibited a higher prevalence of very high fat intake (41.9%) compared with their non-health sciences counterparts (27.6%). Surprisingly, anthropometric stratification revealed that it was the underweight students who demonstrated very high levels of fat consumption. A notable socioeconomic gradient was observed, with students from households earning 15,000 - 20,000 SR monthly showing the highest prevalence of very high-fat consumption (47.1%), although this association did not achieve statistical significance (p = 0.104

Hypolipidemic effect of coffee silver skin in rats fed a high-fat diet

The present study was conducted to evaluate the hypolipidemic effects of coffee silver skin(CSS)supplementation in rats fed a highfat diet(HFD).A total of 40 albino rats were used in the present *** groups were as follows:Rats fed a normal diet,N group;high fat diet,HFD group;high fat diet+10%CSS,HFD 10;HFD+15%CSS,HFD 15;HFD+20%CSS,HFD 20;the diets were followed for 8 *** samples were collected at the end of the *** the time of sacrifice,the weights of heart,liver,kidneys,epididymal fat and retroperitoneal fat of the experimental rats with respect to body weight were *** lipid parameter of the serum was recorded and liver and kidney function tests were ***,a histopathological assay was performed on the liver and kidney tissues of the rats fed the tested *** weight gain of the rats fed a HFD supplemented with 10,15 and 20%CSS was∼1.05,1.08 and 1.12 times lower than that of those rats fed HFD,*** incorporation of CSS at a level of 20%reduced the increase in liver,kidney,epididymal fat and retroperitoneal fat weight by 17.84,19.38,47.23 and 18.00%,respectively,compared with HFD *** administration induced considerable increases in alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase activities compared with the control *** results also indicated that the HFD-fed rats exhibited increased levels of urea,uric acid and creatinine,by∼26.38,8.40 and 6.75%,respectively,compared with the control *** the exception of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,all lipid fractions increased significantly in rats fed a *** administration of a HFD induced marked pathological changes in the liver and kidneys of the ***,the incorporation of various levels of CSS in to a HFD reduced these *** results of the present study illustrate that the incorporation of CSS into HFDs reduces the hyperlipidemia effect of these diets.

Effect of cooling rate and composition on microstructure and mechanical properties of ultrahigh-strength steels

The influence of cooling rate on the microstructure and mechanical properties of two new ultrahigh-strength steels(UHSSs)with different levels of C,Cr and Ni has been evaluated for the as-cooled and untempered *** UHSS had higher contents of C and Cr,while the other one had a higher Ni *** the basis of dilatation curves,microstructures,macrohardness and microhardness,continuous cooling transformation diagrams were constructed as a guide to heat treatment *** rates(CRs)of 60,1 and 0.01°C/s were selected for more detailed *** characterization was made by laser scanning confocal microscopy,field emission scanning electron microscopy combined with electron backscatter diffraction,electron probe microanalysis and X-ray *** properties were characterized using macrohardness,tensile and Charpy V-notch impact *** with the higher C and Cr contents showed lower transformation temperatures and slower bainite formation kinetics than that with the higher Ni *** cooling rates led to lower volume fractions and carbon contents of retained austenite together with finer prior austenite grain size,as well as effective final grain size and lath *** changes were accompanied by higher yield and tensile *** best combinations of strength and toughness were obtained with martensitic microstructures and by avoiding the formation of granular bainite accompanied by proeutectoid carbides at low *** the cooling rates studied,UHSS with the higher C and Cr contents showed the higher hardness and strength but at the cost of toughness.

Conventional direct torque control (DTC) is one of the excellent control strategies available to control the torque of the induction machine (IM). However, the low switching frequency of the DTC causes high ripples in the flux and torque that leads to an acoustic noise which degrades the control performances, especially at low speeds. Many direct torque control techniques were appeared to remedy these problems by focusing specifically on the torque and flux. In this paper, a state of the art review of various modern techniques for improving the performance of DTC control is presented. The objective is to make a critical analysis of these methods in terms of ripples reduction, tracking speed, switching loss, algorithm complexity and parameter sensitivity. Further, it is envisaged that the information presented in this review paper will be a valuable gathering of information for academic and industrial researchers.

Transition metal carbides,known as MXenes,particularly Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x),have been extensively explored as promising materials for electrochemical ***,transition metal carbonitride MXenes with high nitrogen content for electrochemical reactions are rarely *** this work,transition metal carbonitride MXenes incorporated with Pt-based electrocatalysts,ranging from single atoms to sub-nanometer dimensions,are explored for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).The fabricated Pt clusters/MXene catalyst exhibits superior HER performance compared to the single-atom-incorporated MXene and commercial Pt/C catalyst in both acidic and alkaline *** optimized sample shows low overpotentials of 28,65,and 154 mV at a current densities of 10,100,and 500 m A cm^(-2),a small Tafel slope of 29 m V dec^(-1),a high mass activity of 1203 mA mgPt^(-1)and an excellent turnover frequency of 6.1 s^(-1)in the acidic *** functional theory calculations indicate that this high performance can be attributed to the enhanced active sites,increased surface functional groups,faster charge transfer dynamics,and stronger electronic interaction between Pt and MXene,resulting in optimized hydrogen absorption/desorption toward better *** work demonstrates that MXenes with a high content of nitrogen may be promising candidates for various catalytic reactions by incorporating single atoms or clusters.
