Human speech indirectly represents the mental state or emotion of *** use of Artificial Intelligence(AI)-based techniques may bring revolution in this modern era by recognizing emotion from *** this study,we introduced a robust method for emotion recognition from human speech using a well-performed preprocessing technique together with the deep learning-based mixed model consisting of Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)and Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).About 2800 audio files were extracted from the Toronto emotional speech set(TESS)database for this study.A high pass and Savitzky Golay Filter have been used to obtain noise-free as well as smooth audio data.A total of seven types of emotions;Angry,Disgust,Fear,Happy,Neutral,Pleasant-surprise,and Sad were used in this ***,Fundamental frequency,and Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient(MFCC)have been used to extract the emotion features,and these features resulted in 97.5%accuracy in the mixed LSTM+CNN *** mixed model is found to be performed better than the usual state-of-the-art models in emotion recognition from *** also indicates that this mixed model could be effectively utilized in advanced research dealing with sound processing.

Risky gait activities lead to severe wear in orthopaedic implants during postoperative *** aim of the present study is to predict the linear and volumetric wear of zirconia(ZrO2)vs alumina(Al2O3)hip implants subject to risky and normal gait ***,the gait loads pertaining to risky gait activities were converted to equivalent normal *** using the computed normal loads,friction and wear coefficients of ZrO2 ball against Al2O3 disc were calculated from Pin-on-Disc(POD)tribometer under dry and lubricating *** solution,a bio-lubricant was utilized for lubrication purpose to mimic synovial fluid *** gait activities stair ascending or descending,carrying load,lifting load and ladder up or down etc.,grouped as A,B,C and D were used to determine friction and wear *** Element Method(FEM)was employed to predict the wear of the bearing *** developed contact pressure for these gait activities was then utilized to compute linear and volumetric wear for 2 million *** findings suggests that,patients regularly involved in group C and D type gait activities were likely to cause more wear which may accelerate early implant failure.

Flow and erosion at a bend in the braided Jamuna River

The braided Jamuna River frequently changes its *** the secondary channel in a braided river acts as a single thread meandering *** the present study an attempt has been made to investigate the flow patterns and to estimate the rate of bank erosion in a bend along the Jamuna *** three dimensional(3D) flow velocities were measured using Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler(ADCP).It is found that the near bank velocity is amplified by 1.1 to 1.3 times as compared with the section averaged velocity.A dominant secondary current is found in the upstream *** evolution as well as decay of the secondary current is not as clear as it is found in the laboratory *** is revealed from the analysis of the flow process that the causes of higher rate of erosion at the study bend are the oblique flow near bankline,six times amplified shear velocity than critical shear velocity near bankline and the secondary current which acts as a sediment transporting agent from the outer bank towards the inner bank or the sand *** on the flow processes,a simplified erosion prediction model is developed and applied to estimate the rate of erosion at a selected *** the predicted results have been compared with the observed data at the bend and all the available data at other bends along the Jamuna River.

Impact of industrial effluent on growth and yield of rice(Oryza sativa L.) in silty clay loam soil

Degradation of soil and water from discharge of untreated industrial effluent is alarming in Bangladesh. Therefore, buildup of heavy metals in soil from contaminated effluent, their entry into the food chain and effects on rice yield were quantified in a pot experiment. The treatments were comprised of 0, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% industrial effluents applied as irrigation water. Effluents, initial soil, different parts of rice plants and post-harvest pot soil were analyzed for various elements, including heavy metals. Application of elevated levels of effluent contributed to increased heavy metals in pot soils and rice roots due to translocation effects, which were transferred to rice straw and grain. The results indicated that heavy metal toxicity may develop in soil because of contaminated effluent *** metals are not biodegradable, rather they accumulate in soils, and transfer of these metals from effluent to soil and plant cells was found to reduce the growth and development of rice plants and thereby contributed to lower yield. Moreover, a higher concentration of effluent caused heavy metal toxicity as well as reduction of growth and yield of rice, and in the long run a more aggravated situation may threaten human lives,which emphasizes the obligatory adoption of effluent treatment before its release to the environment, and regular monitoring by government agencies needs to be ensured.

HBsAg, HBcAg, and combined HBsAg/HBcAg-based therapeutic vaccines in treating chronic hepatitis B virus infection

BACKGROUND: As the host immunity is diminished in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), different approaches have been used to up-regulate their immune responses to produce therapeutic effects. But, cytokines, growth factors and polyclonal immune modulators could not exhibit sufficient therapeutic effects in these patients. Immune therapy with HBV-related antigens (vaccine therapy) has been used in CHB patients. But there is a paucity of information about the design of HBV antigen-based immune therapy in these patients. DATA SOURCE: Preclinical and clinical studies on immune therapy with HBsAg-based vaccine, HBcAg and combination of HBsAg/HBcAg-based vaccines have been discussed. RESULTS: HBsAg-based prophylactic vaccine was used as an immune therapeutic agent in CHB patients; however, monotherapy with HBsAg-based immune therapy could not lead to sustained control of HBV replication and/or liver damages. HBsAg-based vaccine was used as a combination therapy with cytokines, growth factors, and antiviral drugs. HBsAg-based vaccine was also used for cell-based therapy. However, satisfactory therapeutic effects of HBsAg-based vaccine could not be documented in CHB patients. In the mean time, evidences have supported that HBcAg-specific immunity is endowed with antiviral and liver protecting capacities in CHB patients. Recent data concentrate on the clinical use of combined HBsAg- and HBcAg-based vaccines in CHB ***: Antigen-based immune therapy with HBV- related antigens may be an alternative method for the treatment of CHB patients but proper designs of antigens, types of adjuvants, dose of vaccinations, and routes of administration need further analyses for the development of an effective regimen of immune therapy against HBV.

Germinant ZnO nanorods as a charge-selective layer in organic solar cells

A facile method was introduced and demonstrated to synthesize zinc oxide(ZnO) nanorods(NRs) as an electron transporting layer(ETL) for organic solar cells(OSCs).Hydrothermal synthesis of the NRs showed a constant growth rate of 5.5 nm min-1 from germination to sub-micrometer *** properties were characterized using scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),absorption spectrophotometry and so *** on these measurements,the germinant growth mechanism and its corresponding orientation characteristics were *** an ETL of the OSCs,ZnO NRs enhance the charge extraction from the active layer due to their increased interfacial surface area,but there is an optimal length because of the shunt path formation and UV absorption of long ZnO *** a re sult,the OSC with the ZnO NRs as ETL shows power conversion efficiency(PCE) up to 6.2%.The J-V characteristics and incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency(IPCE) measurement also reveal that the efficiency enhancement is an assembly of individual results from optical,physical and electrical characteristic of the ZnO NRs.

Biodiversity has become an issue of global attention because of growing awareness of its importance and its rapid depletion *** of tree species in relation to environmental and disturbance gradients was examined in three managed *** were randomly sampled in a survey of 75 circular plots(radius=13 m)with 5 subplots(radius=1 m).Generalized linear model analysis was used with a Poisson distribution log link function to understand the effects of variables(organic matter,organic carbon,nitrogen,potassium,pH,elevation and disturbance)on tree species *** correspondence analysis was used to explore ecological relationships among *** result found that the stand characteristics was an important influencing factor in the three *** result showed that the variables had a highly positive influence on tree species richness in the three *** ordination,the selected variables governed the richness of tree *** study can help identify the most important factors that drive tree species richness in the three managed forests in Bangladesh and in similar ecosystems and inform forest management decisions for conservation according to ecological importance.

Improved systemic half-life of glucagon-like peptide-1-loaded carbonate apatite nanoparticles in rats

Development of chemometric model for characterization of non-wood by FT-NIR data

In this study,a model for prediction of lignocellulose components of agricultural residues has been developed with Fourier Transformed Near Infrared(FT-NIR)spectroscopy *** calibration techniques(Principal Component Regression(PCR)and Partial Least Square Regression(PLSR))were assessed for prediction of lignin,holocellulose,α-cellulose,pentosan and ash,and found the PLSR better for lignin,holocellulose andα-*** PCR also produced better results for quantification of pentosan and *** range(7000-5000 cm^(-1))showed more informative than other parts of the spectral *** PLSR showed maximum value of R^(2)(R^(2)=0.91%)for prediction of *** the prediction of pentosan,the PCR was better(R^(2)=0.68%).The PCR also showed better results(R^(2)=86%)for quantification of *** determine amount of lignin,the PLSR was the best(R^(2)=0.83%)when the spectral data were de-trained and smoothed with Savitzky-Golay(S-G)filtering *** prediction ofα-cellulose,the PLSR was the best model(R^(2)=0.94%)when the data were pretreated with mean *** the best alternatives inNear Infrared(NIR)data preprocessing and calibration techniques,methods for quantification of lignocellulose components of agricultural residues have been developed which is rapid,cost effective,and less chemical intensive and easily usable in pulp and paper industries and pulp testing laboratories.

We investigated the effect of tree cover,forest patch and disturbances on tree species richness in a highly diverse conservation area of northeast Bangladesh.A systematic sampling protocol was adopted and 80 sub-plots from twenty five 1 ha plots were used for the vegetation *** regression analysis was performed to understand the effect of patch area,disturbances and tree cover on tree species *** using Redundancy analysis(RDA) and Non-metric Multi Dimensional Scaling(NMDS) were also performed to explore the tree species compositional similarities along the stand characteristics gradient and locations of the sample *** study revealed that,forest patch size has greater influence on species *** with medium level of disturbances have shown greater species *** constrained ordination the selected explanatory variables regulated the richness of common *** findings can be useful for better forest management and restoration of landscapes of conservation needs using ecologically important species.
