Wettability modification effects on relative permeability end-points:Comparative analysis of surfactant agents for enhanced oil recovery

This research examines the impact of wettability alteration on the end points of relative permeability,a crucial property of fluids and porous media that influences the displacement processes of immiscible fluids through such *** estimation of the mobility ratio for oil recovery relies on these end points,which are influenced by connate water saturation and residual oil *** investigate this relationship,carbonate rock is generally subjected to wettability alteration using surfactant agents,and core flooding is employed to determine the relative permeability before and after the *** wettability of the rock is commonly assessed through contact angle *** surfactants,TritonX-100(Tx-100)and Cedar,were tested in reducing the wettability of the porous media for *** contact angle measurements revealed that Tx-100 was more effective for this purpose than ***,the relative permeability tests indicated that both surfactants decreased residual oil saturation,but Tx-100 also improved system *** contrast,Cedar reduced residual oil saturation but increased system pressure,possibly because of its high *** results also demonstrate that injecting Tx-100 leads to a 14%increase in ultimate oil recovery compared with water injection,while Cedar injection increased the recovery factor by 5%.This difference may be attributed to the incomplete coverage of the pore wall by Cedar or its weaker chemical structure than ***,in carbonate cores,neither non-ionic surfactant enhanced oil recovery.

Cloud computing has become increasingly popular due to its capacity to perform computations without relying on physical infrastructure,thereby revolutionizing computer ***,the rising energy consumption in cloud centers poses a significant challenge,especially with the escalating energy *** paper tackles this issue by introducing efficient solutions for data placement and node management,with a clear emphasis on the crucial role of the Internet of Things(IoT)throughout the research *** IoT assumes a pivotal role in this study by actively collecting real-time data from various sensors strategically positioned in and around data *** sensors continuously monitor vital parameters such as energy usage and temperature,thereby providing a comprehensive dataset for *** data generated by the IoT is seamlessly integrated into the Hybrid TCN-GRU-NBeat(NGT)model,enabling a dynamic and accurate representation of the current state of the data center *** the incorporation of the Seagull Optimization Algorithm(SOA),the NGT model optimizes storage migration strategies based on the latest information provided by IoT *** model is trained using 80%of the available dataset and subsequently tested on the remaining 20%.The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach,with a Mean Squared Error(MSE)of 5.33%and a Mean Absolute Error(MAE)of 2.83%,accurately estimating power prices and leading to an average reduction of 23.88%in power ***,the integration of IoT data significantly enhances the accuracy of the NGT model,outperforming benchmark algorithms such as DenseNet,Support Vector Machine(SVM),Decision Trees,and *** NGT model achieves an impressive accuracy rate of 97.9%,surpassing the rates of 87%,83%,80%,and 79%,respectively,for the benchmark *** findings underscore the effectiveness of the proposed method in optimizing energy efficiency and enhancing the predictive

To realize a liberalized peer-to-peer (P2P) electricity market in distribution systems with network security, this paper develops a general framework for P2P trading in distribution systems with the utility's operation. The model is formulated as a bi-level programming. The utility's operation is an upper level problem, where a calculation method of network usage charges for P2P trading is also proposed. Peers' P2P trading is a lower level problem. An iterative algorithm based on analytical target cascading (ATC) is proposed to solve the model, where the interactions between utility and peers are presented. Numerical results on the IEEE 33-bus system demonstrate that the proposed method realizes a liberalized P2P market and ensures network security in distribution systems.

This research is concentrated on the longitudinal vibration of a tapered pipe pile considering the vertical support of the surrounding soil and construction ***,the pile-soil system is partitioned into finite segments in the vertical direction and the Voigt model is applied to simulate the vertical support of the surrounding soil acting on the pile *** surrounding soil is divided into finite ring-shaped zones in the radial direction to consider the construction ***,the shear complex stiffness at the pile-soil interface is derived by solving the dynamic equilibrium equation for the soil from the outermost to innermost *** displacement impedance at the top of an arbitrary pile segment is obtained by solving the dynamic equilibrium equation for the pile and is combined with the vertical support of the surrounding soil to derive the displacement impedance at the bottom of the upper adjacent ***,the displacement impedance at the pile head is obtained based on the impedance function transfer ***,the reliability of the proposed solution is verified,followed by a sensitivity analysis concerning the coupling effect of the pile parameters,construction disturbance and the vertical support of the surrounding soil on the displacement impedance of the pile.

Chemical fertilizers,such as potash,have a strong tendency to cake when exposed to *** this work,a novel synchrotron-based X-ray tomography 3D-imaging technique was for the first time employed to investigate the solid bridge formation from 2D and 3D *** processing and a theoretical model were presented to demonstrate recrystallization near contact points between potash particles during a conventional drying *** effect of initial moisture content on the water activity of surface surrounding the contact points was *** results showed that by increasing the moisture content of particles(3%–5%),the dissolution of sylvite increased and the solid bridge length between potash particles was enlarged from 28μm to 44μm due to supersaturation *** addition,the external porosity of potash particles at the end of drying process decreased from 25.3%to 19.5%for 3%and 5%moisture content,respectively.

Sandstone reservoirs often contain clay particles that can cause damage and reduce permeability during low-salinity water flooding. In this study, the effect of surfactants on fine migration in clay-rich sandstones and its impact on oil recovery was ***, the impact of surfactants on interparticle forces in fine-matrix, fine-fine, and oil-matrix systems was modeled. The results showed that both CTAB(cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide) and QS(quillaja saponin) cause EDL compaction, weakening the repulsive forces. However, SDS(sodium dodecyl sulfate)and TX(triton X-100) do not affect the EDL. Next, the effect of surfactants on IFT reduction and wettability alteration was experimentally investigated. All surfactants reduced IFT due to the surface excessive concentration mechanism. The wettability alteration experiment illustrated that although QS and CTAB compact EDL around oil and matrix particles leading to attraction force augmentation, they both alter wettability through adsorption on matrix and carboxylic groups present in crude oil, *** aqueous solutions were then injected into various clay-rich sandstone sanpacks, which resulted in increased oil recovery. However, the mechanisms leading to enhanced oil recovery variedby surfactant type. CTAB increased recovery by 10% through IFT reduction and wettability alteration, while SDS and TX increased recovery by 12% and 9%, respectively, through wettability alteration and extreme fine migration. In contrast, partial fine migration in the QS flooding experiment reached a recovery increase of 18%. Permeability trends through experiments were also recorded. During CTAB injection,permeability did not reduce, while QS aqueous solution reduced rock permeability to 5 m D. The self-assembly of hybrid inorganic-organic materials on stationary platforms plays a critical role in improving their structural stability and wide *** this work,a novel two-step hydrothermal approach is proposed for synthesizing stable and advanced hybrid coatings on metal-oxide platforms through the surface modification of layered double hydroxide(LDH)films using novel metal-organic frameworks(MOFs).Initially,Mg-Al LDH nanocontainers,grown on a magnesium oxide layer produced through plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)of AZ31 Mg alloy substrate,were intercalated with cobalt via an oxidation route,providing the metallic coordination center for the MOF *** the subsequent step,a pioneering technique is introduced,utilizing tryptophan as the organic linker for the first time at a pH of *** self-assembly of cobalt-tryptophan complex,driven by the strong bonding between electrophilic sites of monomers and nucleophilic sites,facilitated the formation of a MOF network having a cloud-like structure on the surface of MgAl LDH's *** resulting MOF-LDH encapsulation containers demonstrate exceptional electrochemical stability when exposed to a 3.5 wt.%NaCl solution,surpassing the performance of PEO and pure LDH *** enhanced stability is attributed to the development of a dense top layer and a stable composition within the self-assembled MOF,effectively sealing flaws and preventing the infiltration of corrosive ions into the underlying metallic *** formation mechanism of MOFs on LDH galleries is investigated using density functional theory calculations.

Electricity theft is a widespread non-technical issue that has a negative impact on both power grids and electricity *** hinders the economic growth of utility companies,poses electrical risks,and impacts the high energy costs borne by *** development of smart grids is crucial for the identification of power theft since these systems create enormous amounts of data,including information on client consumption,which may be used to identify electricity theft using machine learning and deep learning ***,there also exist different solutions such as hardware-based solutions to detect electricity theft that may require human resources and expensive ***-based solutions are presented in the literature to identify electricity theft but due to the dimensionality curse,class imbalance issue and improper hyper-parameter tuning of such models lead to poor *** this research,a hybrid deep learning model abbreviated as RoGRUT is proposed to detect electricity theft as amalicious and non-malicious *** key steps of the RoGRUT are data preprocessing that covers the problem of class imbalance,feature extraction and final theft *** advanced-level models like RoBERTa is used to address the curse of dimensionality issue,the near miss for class imbalance,and transfer learning for *** effectiveness of the RoGRUTis evaluated using the dataset fromactual smartmeters.A significant number of simulations demonstrate that,when compared to its competitors,the RoGRUT achieves the best classification *** performance evaluation of the proposed model revealed exemplary results across *** accuracy achieved was 88%,with precision at an impressive 86%and recall reaching 84%.The F1-Score,a measure of overall performance,stood at 85%.Furthermore,themodel exhibited a noteworthyMatthew correlation coefficient of 78%and excelled with an area under the curve of 91%.

Image steganography is one of the prominent technologies in data hiding *** system performance mostly depends on the embedding *** goal is to embed strictly confidential information into images without causing perceptible changes in the original *** randomization strategies in data embedding techniques may utilize random domains,pixels,or region-of-interest for concealing secrets into a cover image,preventing information from being discovered by an *** implementation of an appropriate embedding technique can achieve a fair balance between embedding capability and stego image imperceptibility,but it is challenging.A systematic approach is used with a standard methodology to carry out this *** review concentrates on the critical examination of several embedding strategies,incorporating experimental results with state-of-the-art methods emphasizing the robustness,security,payload capacity,and visual quality metrics of the stego *** fundamental ideas of steganography are presented in this work,along with a unique viewpoint that sets it apart from previous works by highlighting research gaps,important problems,and ***,it offers a discussion of suggested directions for future study to advance and investigate uncharted territory in image steganography.
