Diabetes mellitus(DM)is known to cause reproductive *** men,it has been linked to altered sperm quality and testicular *** stress(OS)plays a pivotal role in the development of DM ***(GSH)is a part of a nonenzymatic antioxidant defense system that protects lipid,protein,and nucleic acids from oxidative ***,the protective effects of exogenous GSH on the male reproductive system have not been comprehensively *** study determined the impact of GSH supplementation in ameliorating the adverse effect of type 1 DM on sperm quality and the seminiferous tubules of diabetic C57BL/6NTac *** at the doses of 15 mg kg^(-1)and 30 mg kg^(-1)was given intraperitoneally to mice weekly for 6 consecutive *** mice were then weighed,euthanized,and had their reproductive organs *** diabetic(D Group)showed significant impairment of sperm quality and testicular histology compared with the nondiabetic(ND Group).Diameters of the seminiferous lumen in diabetic mice treated with 15 mg kg^(-1) GSH(DGSH15)were decreased compared with the D *** motility was also significantly increased in the DGSH15 *** in testicular morphology might be an early indication of the protective roles played by the exogenous GSH in protecting sperm quality from effects of untreated type 1 DM or diabetic *** investigation using different doses and different routes of GSH is necessary to confirm this suggestion.

Objective:To identify the anti-Toxoplasma antibodies from blood donors who referred to blood transfusion bases of Jahrom County,using ELISA ***:Based on the prevalence and characteristics method,400 serum samples were collected from blood donors referred to Jahrom blood transfusion bases,Southern Iran,during 2010–2011,designed at testing by *** M and Ig G antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii were tested using ELISA kits(Dia-Pro)on *** data were analysed by SPSS 19 ***:Review of 400 cases,54 of them were Ig G positive for parasites(13.5%)and 346of those with negative Ig G(86.5%).In Ig M examination,1.75%of them have been positive Ig M(7 cases)and 98.25%of them were Ig M negative(393 cases).By comparing the different group ages,40–50 year age group had the highest prevalence of Ig G positive(17.9%)and the age group of 30–40 years had the highest incidence of Ig M negative(2.5%).Conclusions:Due to the serological infection rate of toxoplasmosis obtained from this study,toxoplasmosis should be considered as a significant transfusion risk factor in Jahrom and also in any region with similar situations.

Background This study aimed to assess the socioeconomic inequality and determinants of screen time (ST) frequency in Iranian children and adolescents. Methods This nationwide study was conducted as part of a national school-based surveillance program among 36,486 students consisting of 50.79% boys and 74.23% urban inhabitants, aged 6–18 years, living in urban and rural areas of 30 provinces of Iran. Socioeconomic inequality in ST, including the time spent for ST, watching TV and leisure-time work-ing with computer, was assessed across quintiles of SES using concentration index (C) and slope index of inequality (SII). Results Overall, 36,486 students completed the study (response rate 91.25%). Their mean (SD) age was 12.14 (3.36) years. The national estimation of frequency of ST was 31.66% (95% CI 31.16–32.17) with ascending change from 20.80% (95% CI 19.81–21.82) to 36.66% (95% CI 35.47–37.87) from the first to the last quintal of SES. EstimatedC value at national level was positive (0.08), which indicate inequality was in favor of low SES groups. Considering the SII values, at national level [? 0.16 (? 0.39, 0.06)], the absolute difference in ST frequency between the bottom and top of the socioeconomic groups had descending trends. In multivariate logistic regression model, family history of obesity, generalized obesity and age were the main significant determinants of prolonged ST, watching TV, and computer working (P < 0.001). Conclusions Socioeconomic inequality in ST frequency was in favor of low SES groups. These findings are useful for health policies, better programming and future complementary analyses.

Background and aims Liver cirrhosis is a complex disease that may result in increased morbidity and mortality following bariatric surgery(BS).This study aimed to explore the outcome of BS in patients with unexpected cirrhosis,focusing on postoperative complications and the progression of liver *** A retrospective study of bariatric patients with cirrhosis from four centers in China between 2016 and 2023 was conducted,with follow-up for one year after *** primary outcome was the safety of BS in patients with unexpected cirrhosis,while the secondary outcome was the metabolic efficacy of BS in this group *** A total of 47 patients met the study criteria,including 46 cases of Child-Pugh class A cirrhosis and 1 case of Child-Pugh *** examination confirmed nodular cirrhosis in 21 patients(44.68%),pseudolobule formation in 1 patient(2.13%),lipedema degeneration with inflammatory cell infiltration in 3 patients(6.38%),and chronic hepatitis in 1 patient(2.13%).The average percentage of total weight loss was 29.73±6.53%at one year *** the 30-day postoperative period,the complication rate was 6.38%,which included portal vein thrombosis,gastrointestinal bleeding,and intra-abdominal ***,no cases of liver decompensation or mortality were reported during the follow-up *** remission rates of comorbidities among 41 patients one year after surgery were as follows:dyslipidemia 100%,type 2 diabetes 82.61%,hypertension 84.62%,and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome 85.71%.Conclusions BS can be safely performed in patients with unexpected cirrhosis in the compensated stage of liver disease,with low postoperative morbidity and no mortality observed during one-year follow-up.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of Olea (O.) europaea extract on markers of oxidative stress and apoptosis of ovarian tissues in a rat model of torsion/detorsion-induced ovarian damage. Methods: A total of 28 Wistar female rats were randomly assigned into 4 groups, with 7 rats in each group. The sham group received a 2.5 cm longitudinal incision in the midline part of the abdomen which was then sutured with 5-0 nylon thread;the torsion/detorsion group underwent torsion induction for 3 h followed by reperfusion for 10 days;the torsion/detorsion+O. europaea group received 300 mg/kg hydro-alcoholic extract of O. europaea 30 min before detorsion, followed by reperfusion for 10 days;and the O. europaea group only received 300 mg/kg hydro-alcoholic extract of O. europaea for 10 days. After the treatment period, blood samples were taken;the levels of estrogen, glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, and malondialdehyde were assayed. The histological changes, as well as the rate of apoptosis in ovarian tissues, were also carried out by histomorphometric analysis at day 10 post-procedure. Results: Histological comparisons demonstrated a significant detrimental change in the torsion/detorsion group as compared with other groups. The number of pre-antral and antral follicles and corpus luteum was significantly decreased in the torsion/detorsion group compared with the sham group, while treatment with O. europaea could enhance their numbers (P<0.05). The index of apoptosis and the number of atretic body in the ovarian tissue were significantly higher in the torsion/detorsion group compared with the sham group (P<0.05). The concentrations of glutathione peroxidase, estrogen, and superoxide dismutase as well as the mRNA expression of Bcl-2 were considerably diminished in the torsion/detorsion group while they were elevated in the torsion/detorsion+O. europaea group (P<0.05) compared with the torsion/detorsion group. 本研究旨在研究自新冠大流行以来,酒店业的变化及游客的态度和期望的转变。本研究旨在监督新冠大流行以来,游客在旅行期间(态度,期望)与(预期价值,预知风险和酒店危机策略)之间的关系。基于计划行为理论和期望理论;这项研究将探究在新冠大流行之后,游客的期望和态度上出现的新变化,以期对大流行后的游客有更多的了解。此项分析的适用方法是定性研究,旨在分析和理解个人对特定社会或人类障碍的价值属性(Creswell,2014;Yin,2015)。定性研究的方法可以在了解像新冠肺炎这样的流行病,参与这些流行病的人以及有效的解决方案和策略方面起到核心作用。考虑到这项研究与游客表现出的特定行为有关,定性研究似乎更为相关,因为它被称为管理研究的一种适用的研究形式(Creswell,2014)。为此,基于对中东游客的采访样本,对他们大流行后对酒店住宿要求所做的改变进行研究。这些变化将对他们的旅行期望、需求产生哪些改变,并将其之前和之后的反应进行对比;在新冠大流行期间的风险、服务、政策及其个人态度变化。本文在NVivo12软件上对访谈进行了分析,以检验研究中提出的假设之间的关系。NVivo软件一直是世界上被引用最多的QDA软件,已被世界各地的公司和大学要求在定性研究中获得最准确的可视化数据。结果将显示游客是否受到新冠大流行的影响,并怎样改变了他们对酒店业的态度和期望。他们的决定取决于他们对风险的认识以及其他酒店利益相关者采取的预防措施。本研究丰富了计划行为理论和预期理论的文献。本研究将是一项衡量感知价值、感知风险和危机管理的研究,这些研究将衡量前一个依赖变量与态度和期望的关系。本研究有利于酒店业股东和旅游管理者了解旅游者及其新的需求、应对措施以及他们对大流行的期待,这将是旅游业复苏的最终途径。

Objective: Depression affects people living with HIV(PLWH) compliance leading to poor control *** observational studies showed an anti-depression effect of green tea extract(GTE). The therapeutic effect of GTE on depression were investigated in PLWH receiving antiretroviral therapy(ART).Methods: Fifty PLWH on ART with diagnose of mild to moderate of depression, participated in a doubleblind, placebo-controlled trial and underwent 12 weeks of treatment with either 400 mg GTE capsules or placebo twice daily. The Hamilton depression scale of patients was measured before, 6 weeks and 12 weeks after treatment in two groups. The primary outcome measure was performed to evaluate the efficacy of GTE in improving depressive ***: The mean of Hamilton score showed a significant difference between the two groups after 12 weeks(P = 0.035). Repeated measures ANOVA test showed a significant effect for time ? treatment interaction on the Hamilton mean score between the two groups(P = 0.000).Conclusion: It seems the use of GTE capsules in PLWH on ART is safe and could lead to greater and more rapid improvement in depressive symptoms than placebo. Thus it can be considered as an alternative therapy for mild to moderate depression. Further studies with higher sample size and longer followup and comparisons with other antidepressive drugs are warranted.
