Metabolome Comparison of Transgenic and Non-transgenic Rice by Statistical Analysis of FTIR and NMR Spectra

Modern biotechnology, based on recombinant DNA techniques, has made it possible to introduce new traits with great potential for crop improvement. However, concerns about unintended effects of gene transformation that possibly threaten environment or consumer health have persuaded scientists to set up pre-release tests on genetically modified organisms. Assessment of ＇substantial equivalence＇ concept that established by comparison of genetically modified organism with a comparator with a history of safe use could be the first step of a comprehensive risk assessment. Metabolite level is the dchest in performance of changes which stem from genetic or environmental factors. Since assessment of all metabolites in detail is very costly and practically impossible, statistical evaluation of processed data of grain spectroscopic values could be a time and cost effective substitution for complex chemical analysis. To investigate the ability of multivariate statistical techniques in comparison of metabolomes as well as testing a method for such comparisons with available tools, a transgenic rice in combination with its traditionally bred parent were used as test material, and the discriminant analysis were applied as supervised method and principal component analysis as unsupervised classification method on the processed data which were extracted from Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance spectral data of powdered rice and rice extraction and badey grain samples, of which the latter was considered as control. The results confirmed the capability of statistics, even with initial data processing applications in metabolome studies. Meanwhile, this study confirms that the supervised method results in more distinctive results.

By means of the extended homoclinic test approach(EHTA)one can solve some nonlinear partial differential equations(NLPDEs)in their bilinear *** an NLPDE has no bilinear closed form we can not use this *** modify the idea of EHTA to obtain some analytic solutions for the(3+1)-dimensional potential-Yu-Toda-Sasa-Fukuyama(YTSF)equation by obtaining a bilinear closed form for *** comparison of this method and other analytic methods,like HAM,HTA and three-wave methods,we can see that the new idea is very easy and straightforward.

A sensitivity analysis and multi-objective optimization to enhance ethylene production by oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane in a membrane-assisted reactor

Owing to the importance of process intensification in the natural gas associated processes, the present contribution aims to investigate the production of an important natural gas downstream product in an improved ***, a membrane-assisted reactor for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane is presented. The presented system includes a membrane for axial oxygen dosing into the reaction side. Such a strategy would lead to optimum oxygen distribution along the reactor length and prevention of hot spot formation as well. A feasibility study is conducted by developing a validated mathematical model composed of mass and energy balance equations. The effects of various operating variables are investigated by a rigorous sensitivity ***, by applying the genetic algorithm, a multi-objective optimization procedure is implemented to obtain the optimum operating condition. Considerable increase in the ethane conversion and ethylene yield are the advancements of membrane-assisted oxidative dehydrogenation reactor working under the optimum *** than 30% increase in the ethane conversion is obtained. Furthermore, the ethylene yield is enhanced up to 0.45.

Investigating the structural effect of electrospun nano-fibrous polymeric films on water vapor transmission

Electrospun polymers have many applications in the ***, the structure of these polymers has been less widely considered by *** this work, the structural effect of electrospun and casted films of polyacrylonitrile(PAN) and polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) polymers on water vapor transmission were *** of water vapor was measured at 35, 60 and 80 ℃ and different relative *** diffusion coefficients were calculated based on mass changes of the polymer *** water vapor transmission rate(WVTR) was also measured at 35 ℃ and 90% relative *** results indicated that electrospun nano-fibrous polymers(ESNPs) absorb much higher water vapor compared to non-porous casted *** interaction of water molecules with mentioned polymers was investigated based on Flory-Huggins *** Flory-Huggins interaction parameter of electrospun films was less than casted films, suggesting much better interaction of water molecules with electrospun *** was also found that electrospun films have anomalous kinetic behavior and do not obey the Fickian diffusion ***, it was revealed that ESNPs show less resistance to water vapor transmission and they are good candidates for the applications of water vapor separation using membranes.

Hematological and serum biochemical aspects associated with a camel(Camelus dromedarius)naturally infected by Trypanosoma evansi with severe parasitemia in Semnan,Iran

Objective:To determine the presence of Trypanosoma eransi(***) and the effect of trypanosomosis on hemato-biochemical profile of dromedary camels in Semnan,Iran,which has not been reported ***:To perform this project,blood samples were collected by venipuncture into plain and EDTA-K2-containing vacutainer tubes from 21 dromedary camels(12 males and 9 females) aged3—18 years,from 4 different regions of ***:Microscopic examination of stained thin blood smears revealed the presence of *** in one of the ***,it should be noted that this sample showed a very high parasitemia(more than 5 trypomastigote were visible per microscopic field with MGG,1000×.This heavy parasitemia was associated with an 18-year-old female camel that showed symptoms of corneal opacity,intense emaciation and pale mucous *** of hematological and serum biochemical profiles between the camel infected by *** and uninfected camels indicated anemia,leukocytosis,***,hyperglobulinemia,reduction A/G ratio,increased a,,p and globulins and decreased of a,globulins and increased the concentration of gumma-glutamyl transferase ***:Results of the present study revealed that trypanosomosis was present in dromedary camels of Semnan,Iran(infection rate is 4.76%) and hemato-biochemical parameters were markedly affected by camel trypanosomosis.

Background and Aims:The perinatal transmission of hepatitis B virus(HBV)remains an important global health ***,a systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to evaluate the evidence regarding the efficacy and maternal/fetal safety of treating pregnant women with lamivudine,telbivudine(LdT),and tenofovir(TDF).Methods:A PubMed and Scopus search resulted in 1,076 records,which were reduced to 36,containing 7,717 pregnant women with chronic HBV infection and 7467 infants meeting the inclusion *** latest search was in August ***:Treatment with LdT,but not lamivudine and TDF,could significantly reduce the hepatitis B virus surface antigen-positive rate(odds ratio(OR)=0.37)in infants;it also led to higher rates of hepatitis B e antigen loss(OR=12.14),hepatitis B e antigen seroconversion(OR=8.93),and alanine aminotransferase normalization in mothers(OR=1.49).Each of these treatments was able to significantly reduce HBV DNA positivity at birth(total OR=0.19)and mother-to-child-transmission of HBV(total OR=0.15),and to cause higher rates of HBV DNA suppression in mothers(total OR=25.53).However,nucleos(t)ide analogues might also be involved in creatine kinase elevation(total OR=7.48).In contrast,no significant association was found between nucleos(t)ide analogue therapy and preterm/premature births,congenital malformation,low birth weight,and abortion or fetal/infant *** results suggested LdT's high capability of preventing ***,TDF failed to show significant associations to a reduced risk of mother-to-child-transmission,probably due to the low number of patients ***:Although using either lamivudine,LdT,orTDF could lead to more favorable maternal/fetal outcomes,LdT seemed to show more potential in resolving certain infant-and maternal-related *** studies on the safety profile of such treatments are required.

The inflammatory process plays a central role in the development and progression of numerous pathological situations,such as inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases,metabolic syndrome,and cardiovascular disorders. IBDs involve inflammation of the gastrointestinal area and mainly comprise Crohn's disease(CD) and ulcerative colitis(UC). Both pathological situations usually involve recurring or bloody diarrhea,pain,fatigue and weight loss. There is at present no pharmacological cure for CD or UC. However,surgery may be curative for UC patients. The prescribed treatment aims to ameliorate the symptoms and prevent and/or delay new painful episodes. Flavonoid compounds are a large family of hydroxylated polyphenolic molecules abundant in plants,including vegetables and fruits which are the major dietary sources of these compounds for humans,together with wine and tea. Flavonoids are becoming very popular because they have many health-promoting and disease-preventive effects. Most interest has been directed towards the antioxidant activity of flavonoids,evidencing a remarkable free-radical scavenging capacity. However,accumulating evidence suggests that flavonoids have many other biological properties,including anti-inflammatory,antiviral,anticancer,and neuroprotective activities through different mechanisms of action. The present review analyzes the available data about the different types of flavonoids and their potential effectiveness as adjuvant therapy of IBDs.
