Haze is a very common phenomenon that degrades or reduces visibility. It causes various problems where high-quality images are required such as traffic and security monitoring. So haze removal from scenes is an immediate demand for clear vision. Recently, in addition to the conventional dehazing mechanisms, different types of deep generative adversarial networks (GAN) are applied to suppress the noise and improve the dehazing performance. But it is unclear how these algorithms would perform on hazy images acquired “in the wild” and how we could gauge the progress in the field. To bridge this gap, this presents a comprehensive study on three single image dehazing state-of-the-art GAN models, such as AOD-Net, cGAN, and DHSGAN. We have experimented using benchmark dataset consisting of both synthetic and real-world hazy images. The obtained results are evaluated both quantitatively and qualitatively. Among these techniques, the DHSGAN gives the best performance.

Haze hampers the performance of vision systems. So, removal of haze appearance in a scene should be the first-priority for clear vision. It finds wide spectrum of practical applications. A good number of dehazing techniques have already been developed. However, validation with the help of ground truth i.e. simulated haze on a clear image is an ultimate necessity. To address this issue, in this work synthetic haze images with various haze concentrations are simulated and then used to confirm the validation task of dark-channel dehazing mechanism, as it is a very promising single image dehazing technique. The simulated hazy image is developed using atmospheric model with and without Perlin noise. The effectiveness of dark-channel dehazing method is confirmed using the simulated haze images through average gradient metric, as haze reduces the gradient score.

Quality is a very important parameter for all objects and their functionalities. In image-based object recognition, image quality is a prime criterion. For authentic image quality evaluation, ground truth is required. But in practice, it is very difficult to find the ground truth. Usually, image quality is being assessed by full reference metrics, like MSE (Mean Square Error) and PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio). In contrast to MSE and PSNR, recently, two more full reference metrics SSIM (Structured Similarity Indexing Method) and FSIM (Feature Similarity Indexing Method) are developed with a view to compare the structural and feature similarity measures between restored and original objects on the basis of perception. This paper is mainly stressed on comparing different image quality metrics to give a comprehensive view. Experimentation with these metrics using benchmark images is performed through denoising for different noise concentrations. All metrics have given consistent results. However, from representation perspective, SSIM and FSIM are normalized, but MSE and PSNR are not;and from semantic perspective, MSE and PSNR are giving only absolute error;on the other hand, SSIM and PSNR are giving perception and saliency-based error. So, SSIM and FSIM can be treated more understandable than the MSE and PSNR.

This paper deals with the consensus problem in an uncertain multi-agent system whose agents communicate with each other through a weighted undirected(primary)*** considered multi-agent system is described by an uncertain state-space model in which the involved matrices belong to some matrix *** the main contribution of the paper,a unified optimization-based framework is proposed for simultaneously reducing the weights of the edges of the primary communication graph(optimizing the network topology)and synthesizing a controller such that the consensus in the considered uncertain multi-agent system is ensured with an adjustable convergence *** the NP-hardness nature of the optimization problem related to the aforementioned framework,this problem is relaxed such that it can be solved by regular LMI ***/practical-based examples are presented to verify the usefulness of the obtained results.

This paper compacts with an exact analysis of radiative effects on the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) free convection flow of an electrically conducting incompressible viscous fluid over a vertical plate. The non-dimensional continuity, momentum, and energy equations are solved using appropriate transformation. The dimensionless momentum and energy equations are solved numerically through an explicit finite difference method. The stability and convergence analysis also discussed. Finally, outcomes of the parameters on velocity and temperature profiles are displayed graphically and qualitatively.

Social business is becoming popular worldwide as a sustainable and innovative solution to tackling pressing social problems. The Grameen Danone Food Ltd. (GDFL) Shokti+ yogurt business was chosen as a social business case study. The study described GDFL Shokti+ yogurt production, pricing, and distribution process, elucidated consumers’ perception of the Shokti+ yogurt, identified the major problems faced by the consumers, and proposed probable solutions to popularize the yogurt among the consumers. The study’s objectives were achieved using descriptive statistics based on a quantitative survey of 60 consumers. The study found that Shokti+ yogurt is distributed primarily through four channels: modern model, urban trade, rural trade, and direct trade. The study revealed that non-poor households consume more Shokti+ yogurt than poor households. The findings showed that about 78% and 95% of respondents were satisfied with the yogurt quality and availability, respectively. About 17% of respondents perceived that Shokti+ yogurt is superior to regular yogurt. However, about 58% of respondents claimed that the price is higher than the amount and quality offered. Excessive liquidity, increased price, and lack of trust in the nutritional quality of yogurt were some major problems identified by the consumers. The study proposed certain recommendations such as maintaining the consistency of the yogurt, increasing the amount of yogurt sold, making the yogurt more affordable for poor consumers, and raising awareness about its nutritional benefits for popularizing Shokti+ yogurt in Bangladesh.

In this paper, unsteady free convection heat transfer flow over a vertical plate in the presence of a magnetic field is discussed in detail. The dimensionless partial differential equations of continuity, momentum along energy are analyzed with suitable transformations. For numerical calculation, an implicit finite difference method is applied to solve a set of nonlinear dimensionless partial differential equations. Dimensionless velocity and temperature profile are also investigated due to the effects of assumed parameters in the concerned problem. An explicit finite difference technique is used to compute velocity and temperature profiles. The stability conditions are also examined.

The anterior cruciate ligament plays a crucial role in maintaining stability within the knee joint, particularly for athletes who frequently experience its rupture. This study presents a novel approach using personalized three-dimensional (3D) parametric finite element modeling of the knee joint to simulate the treatment following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) in both forward walking (FW) and drop landing (DL) tasks. The study encompasses two distinct cohorts: five healthy athletes and five ACLR patients. Biomechanical motion analysis was conducted on both cohorts, with the ACLR patient group evaluated at 6 and 9 months post-surgery. A comprehensive 3D parametric model of the knee joint was meticulously crafted. The findings reveal a notable reduction in stress on crucial knee structures such as the autograft, meniscus, and cartilages over time for both FW and DL tasks following ACLR, with a reduction in tissue tension of approximately 9.5% and 37% for FW and DL, respectively. This personalized model not only facilitates the investigation of knee joint tissue biomechanics post-ACLR but also aids in estimating the return-to-sports timeline for patients. By accommodating individual tissue geometries and incorporating patient-specific kinetic data, this model enhances our comprehension of post-ACLR biomechanics across various functional tasks, thereby optimizing rehabilitation strategies.
