Socioeconomic development,adaptive capacity of the population,and demographic conditions across the states of South Asia make it more vulnerable to climate *** Asia is daily going to be more vulnerable to climate change and climatic *** region is facing multiple challenges in terms of climate change,dilapidation of ecosystems,and food *** is the primary determining factor for agricultural output,which unswervingly influences food production across the *** Asia is mainly an agricultural foundation based region and thus the economy of these regions directly depends on agriculture and agricultural *** to the extensive dependence on natural assets for thriving,it makes the people of this region more vulnerable to climate *** region is now under serious risk from sea-level rising and growing incidences of extreme events such as flash floods,enhanced temperature,drought,salinity,cyclones,storms,landslides,and irregularity of *** abiotic stresses continuously disturb plant growth and *** is now the time to take urgent action on these issues towards a sustainable,inclusive and resource efficient way to overcome *** this review,we summarize the overall situation of climate change in the South Asian countries and their adverse consequences on plants,and upcoming challenges towards a sustainable production.

In order to elucidate the role of antioxidant responses in salinity tolerance in rice genotypes under salt stress, experiments were conducted using four rice varieties, including salt-sensitive BRRI dhan 28 and three salt-tolerant varieties BRRI dhan 47, BINA dhan 8 and BINA dhan 10. Thirty-day-old rice seedlings were transplanted into pots. At the active tillering stage(35 d after transplanting), plants were exposed to different salinity levels(0, 20, 40 and 60 mmol/L NaCl). Salt stress caused a significant reduction in growth for all the rice genotypes. Growth reduction was higher in the salt-sensitive genotype than in the salt-tolerant ones, and BINA dhan 10 showed higher salt tolerance in all measured physiological parameters. The reduction in shoot and root biomass was found to be minimal in BINA dhan 10. Chlorophyll content significantly decreased under salt stress except for BINA dhan 10. Proline content significantly increased in salt-tolerant rice genotypes with increased salt concentration, and the highest proline content was obtained from BINA dhan 10 under salt stress. Catalase and ascorbate peroxidase activities significantly decreased in salt-sensitive genotype whereas significantly increased in salt-tolerant ones with increasing salt concentration. However, salt stress significantly decreased guaiacol peroxidase activity in all the rice genotypes irrespective of salt tolerance. K^+/Na^+ ratio also significantly decreased in shoots and roots of all the rice genotypes. The salt-tolerant genotype BINA dhan 10 maintained higher levels of chlorophyll and proline contents as well as catalase and ascorbate peroxidase activities under salt stress, thus, this might be the underlying mechanism for salt tolerance.

Herein,the interaction of a protein,bovine serum albumin(BSA),with tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide(TTAB,a cationic surfactant),has been investigated using the conductivity measurement technique in pure water and some sodium salts(NaCl,Na_(2) SO_(4),Na_(2) CO_(3), and Na_(3) PO_(4)) solutions at temperature range of 295.15-320.15 *** reveal that,in the plot of specific conductivity versus the concentration of TTAB,only a single critical micelle concentration(cmc) was found for the TTAB+BSA mixed system in all solvents media *** addition of BSA in aqueous TTAB solution,the value of cmc undergoes a change from its pure form,which indicates the presence of strong interaction operating between the BSA and TTAB *** aqueous system,the cmc values of the TTAB+BSA mixtures are obtained higher compared to the values found for single TTAB surfactant However,the addition of salt decreases the cmc value of mixed TTAB+BSA *** values of cmc of the BSA+TTAB mixed system at 310.15 K and 1.00 mmol·kg^(-1) ionic strength of salt followed the order:cmc_(Na_(2) CO_(3))> Cmcc_(Na_(3) PO_(4))> cmcNaCl>cMC_(Na_(2) SO_(4)).The cmc values of TTAB+BSA mixture were found to be lowered in urea solution within the concentrations *** values of degree of dissociation(α) and fraction of counter ion binding(β) were found to be dependent on additives and *** free energy of micellization(AGm) is negative for all the systems,which manifests that the micellization phenomenon is energetically *** enhancement of the negative value of △G_(m)^(0) in aqueous salt solutions reveals an increase of spontaneity of the TTAB+BSA micellization *** values of △G_(m)^(0) also reveal that the spontaneity of micelle formation is enhanced at higher temperatures in all media *** values of free energy of transfer(△G_(m,t)^(o)) were also determined for numerous solvent media used in the present study and described with appropriate reasoning.

Interaction between beta-lactum antibiotic drug ciprofloxacin hydrochloride(CFH)and cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB)was performed conductometrically in aqueous as well as in the occurrence of different salts(NaCl,KCl as well as NH_4Cl)over the temperature range of 298.15–323.15 K at the regular interval of 5 *** drug has been suggested for the treatment of bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections and acute sinusitis.A clear critical micelle concentration(CMC)was obtained for pure CTAB as well as(CFH+CTAB)mixed *** decrease in CMC values of CTAB caused by the addition of CFH reveals the existence of the interaction between the components and therefore it is the indication of micelle formation at lower concentration of CTAB and their CMC values further decrease in attendance of salts.A nonlinear behavior in the CMC versus T plot was observed in all the *** ΔG_m^0 values are found to be negative in present study systems demonstrated the stability of the *** values of ΔH_m^0 and ΔS_m^0 reveal the existence of hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions between CFH and *** thermodynamic properties of transfer for the micellization were also evaluated and discussed in *** dynamic simulation disclosed that environment of water and salts have impact on the hydrophobic interaction between CFH and *** water and salts,CTAB adopts spherical micelle in which charged hydrophilic groups are interacted with waters whereas hydrophobic tails form the core of the *** hydrophobic core region is highly conserved and *** addition,micelle formation is more favorable in aqueous Na Cl solution than other solutions.

Broadband response metamaterial absorber(MMA)remains a challenge among researchers.A nanostructured new zero-indexed metamaterial(ZIM)absorber is presented in this study,constructed with a hexagonal shape resonator for optical region *** design consists of a resonator and dielectric layers made with tungsten and quartz(Fused).The proposed absorbent exhibits average absorption of more than 0.8972(89.72%)within the visible wavelength of 450–600 nm and nearly perfect absorption of 0.99(99%)at 461.61 *** on computational analysis,the proposed absorber can be characterized as *** developments of ZIM absorbers have demonstrated plasmonic resonance characteristics and a perfect impedance *** incidence obliquity in typically the range of 0◦–90◦both in TE and TM mode with maximum absorbance is more than 0.8972(∼89.72%),and up to 45◦angular stability is suitable for solar cell applications,like exploiting solar *** proposed structure prototype is designed and simulated by studying microwave technology numerical computer simulation(CST)*** finite integration technique(FIT)based simulator CST and finite element method(FEM)based simulator HFSS also helps validate the numerical data of the proposed ZIM *** proposed MMA design is appropriate for substantial absorption,wide-angle stability,absolute invisible layers,magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),color images,and thermal imaging applications.

A value chain analysis is a detailed description of all the activities and services needed to turn a raw product into a marketable good for delivery to final *** mud crab business is considered by most marketing operators to be a profitable and viable business due to the high demand in the international *** the importance of mud crab fishery,there is no structured marketing facilities in *** research aim to analyze the socioeconomic condition of actors,the profitability of farming,mapping the institutional and non-institutional barriers,and provide a better understanding of the possibility of technological interventions in the value *** and quantitative data were collected through participatory rural appraisal tools that include 200 individual interviews,16 focus group discussions,and 24 key informant interviews conducted in south-west Bangladesh from July to December of *** mud crab value chain analysis revealed that the chain started with crab collection(cultivated and wild harvest),before sale to local vendors,and ended with exporters through several *** noted that most(±95%)exportable crab came from natural sources,with rest(±5%)from aquaculture *** average price(USD/kg)ranged from$10.59􀀀14.12 and$12.94􀀀19.42 for male crabs(grade:XXL),followed by$10.00􀀀11.77 and$11.77􀀀17.06 for female(grade:FF1)in domestic and international markets,*** the high profitability of these sectors,the livelihood of these stakeholders has remained relatively ***-pronged approaches,like a nursery or increasing farming and backyard seed production,and possible value addition at the farm level may help farmers.

Arsenic(As)is carcinogenic and highly toxic to *** accumulate As when grown in field soils irrigated with As-contaminated *** accumulation of As in roots,shoots,and grains of pea varieties can negatively affect human health via the food *** research is focused on the biomass growth and alleviation of As accumulation in roots,shoots,and grains of pea varieties in high As soil amended with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF),biochar(BC),selenium(Se),silica gel(Si-gel),and sulfur(S).Root,shoot,and grain masses were found higher in pea grown in As soil amended with AMF,Se,Si-gel,and *** with rice husk and sawdust BC was found less effective to increase growth parameters in Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute(BARI)Motor *** in grains was reduced by 77%,71%,and 69%by AMF,Se,and Si-gel,*** is recommended that soil amendments with AMF,S,and Se have great potential for improving biomass production of pea grown in As-contaminated soil,as well as reducing As transfer to humans through the food chains.

The main goal of this research is to develop and apply a robust Artificial Neural Networks(ANNs)model for predicting the characteristics of the osmotically drying treated potato and apple samples as a model heat-sensitive product in vacuum contact *** salt and sugar solutions were used as the osmotic solutions at 27◦*** of experiments were performed at various temperatures of 35◦C,40◦C,and 55◦C for conduction heat input under vacuum(−760 mm Hg)*** experiments were also performed in a pure vacuum without heat *** moisture content(DMC),effective moisture diffusivity,and mass flux were considered as the performance parameters in this *** revealed that the osmotic dehydration using a concentrated sugar solution shows a higher reduction in the initial moisture loss of 19.87%compared to 5.3%in the salt ***,a significant enhancement of drying performance of about 27%in DMC was observed for both samples at vacuum and 40◦C compared to pure vacuum drying *** the experimental data,a robust artificial neural network(ANN)was proposed to describe the osmotic dehydration’s behavior on the drying *** ANN model outputs are the dimensionless moisture contents(DMC),the diffusivity,and the mass *** the ANN inputs were the drying time,the percent of sugar solution,and the percent of salt *** the ANN apple’s model,the minimum root mean square error(RMSE)values were 0.0261,0.0349 and 0.0406,for DMC,diffusivity,and mass flux,*** the best correlation coefficients of the above three parameters’determination values were 0.9909,0.9867 and 0.9744,*** the ANN potato’s model,the minimum RMSE values were 0.0124,0.0140 and 0.0333,for DMC,diffusivity,and mass flux,*** the best correlation coefficients of the parameters’values were found 0.9969,0.9968 and 0.9736,***,the ANN model’s prediction has a perfect agreement with th
