Assessment of land suitability and agricultural production sustainability using a combined approach (Fuzzy-AHP-GIS):A case study of Mazandaran province,Iran

This research was conducted to evaluate the sustainability of rice production using fuzzy logic in Mazandaran province,*** untapped use of modern agricultural technology,such as agricultural machinery,has become a global dilemma,which has forced governments and environmentalists to take a serious stand against the dangers of massive non-standard agricultural practices in the *** types of mechanization,socioeconomic,and economic modeling were used to determine the sustainability and their values were collected through interview method using a 320-item questionnaire from 2016 to *** evaluation was carried out using soil and climate characteristics,so that about 27.4%of the area was in the perfectly suitable range(S1),35.2%in the appropriate range(S2),19.5%in the critical range(S3),and 17.9%in the inappropriate range(N)for rice *** were selected from two regions(R1 and R2)by the GIS on two lower levels and more than one hectare(A1,A2)according to agricultural methods(mechanical and traditional).The results showed that the highest and lowest means of the product were 4314.44 and 3501.95 kg ha1,*** sustainability of production was within the range of“sustainability”and“almost sustainable”in terms of mechanistic and economic factors in the fuzzy range of“moderate sustainability”and also with respect to social factors that are in a better position than mechanistic and economic *** of final sustainability model showed that the average of the lasting sustainability index was in the range of“almost unsustainable”and“moderate sustainability”.

Tractor as one of the most widely used agricultural machinery should be considered from different *** frequent application of clutch and brake pedals and also the steering wheel within farms,along with the unfavorable working conditions,cause negative effects on the occupational health of the tractor ***,in this research,the imposed forces on three engaged muscles including:Gastrocnemius,Trapezius and Quadrate’s lumborum of the tractor drivers during clutching have been *** this regard,algometer device was used to determine the applied forces on selective muscles of drivers during clutching of MF285 and MF399 *** experiments were performed employing sample of 30 drivers and were conducted on two Iranian frequently used tractors including:MF285 and MF399 *** results showed that the clutching forces for MF285 and MF399 tractors were 340 N and 290 N,*** knee angle of the drivers of the two tractors was statistically different at the one percent level of *** reduction of pain threshold after 30 and 60 s clutching and also 60 s rest after clutching in MF285 tractor,for all three muscles,were more than those of MF399 *** impact of clutching on the average decreases of pain threshold,for all drivers and all clutching periods,during and after clutching,in the Quadratus lumborum muscle was more than the other two muscles,in both *** order to reduce the clutching force for MF285 tractor some modifications is *** this regard the force transfer joint between the pedal and the clutch release linkage may be replaced with one made of cast iron.

Influence of Moisture Content,Variety and Parboiling on Milling Quality of Rice Grains

The effects of moisture content （8%, 10%and 12%）, variety （Tarom and Fajr） and parboiling on milling quality of rice as a function of milling recovery （MR）, head rice yield （HRY）, degree of milling （DOM） and whiteness were investigated. The parboiled grains was prepared with three soaking temperatures of 25 oC, 50 oC and 75 oC and three steaming times of 10, 15 and 20 min. As a result of parboiling, the increasing rates of MR and HRY values were 7.8%and 14.3%for Tarom and 9.8%and 10.0%for Fajr, respectively, and the decreasing rates for DOM and whiteness were 6.6%and 10.8%for Tarom and 6.8% and 10.5% for Fajr, respectively. Moreover, decreasing moisture content to 8%maximized MR （75.8% for Tarom and 74.3% for Fajr） and HRY （65.8% for Tarom and 57.0% for Fajr） while increasing that to 12%revealed maximum values of DOM （6.1%for Tarom and 6.2%for Fajr） and whiteness （24.8%for Tarom and 28.2%for Fajr）.

Resilience-oriented intentional islanding of reconfigurable distribution power systems

The participation of distributed energy resources in the load restoration procedure,known as intentional islanding,can significantly improve the distribution system *** system reconfiguration can effectively alter islanding procedure and thus provide an opportunity to supply more demanded energy and reduce distribution system *** addition,high-impact events such as hurricanes and earthquakes may complicate the procedure of load restoration,due to the disconnection of the distribution system from the upstream grid or concurrent component *** paper presents a two-level method for intentional islanding of a reconfigurable distribution system,considering high-impact *** thefirst level,optimal islands are selected according to the graph model of the distribution *** the second level,an optimal power flow(OPF)problem is solved to meet the operation constraints of the islands by reactive power control and demand side *** proposed problem in the first level is solved by a combination of depth first search and particle swarm optimization *** OPF problem in the second level is solved in DIgSILENT *** proposed method is implemented in the IEEE 69-bus test system,and the results show the validity and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Efficient Wind Turbine Generation Planning for Decreasing Distribution System Company Payments in Real Applications

Wind energy has posed new challenges in both transmission and distribution systems owing to its uncertain nature. The effect of wind turbines (WTs) on the actual payments charged by upstream networks to distribution system companies (DISCOs) is one challenge. Moreover, when the grid-connected inverters of WT operate in the lead or lag modes, WTs absorb or inject reactive power from the system. This paper proposes an approach to assess the importance of operation modes of WTs to minimize the costs by DISCOs in the presence of system uncertainties. Accordingly, an optimization problem is formulated to minimize the costs to DISCO by determining the optimal locations and sizes of WTs in optimally reconfigured distribution systems. In addition, an improved vector-based swarm optimization (IVBSO) algorithm is proposed because it is highly suitable for vector-based problems. Two distribution systems are used in the simulations to evaluate the proposed algorithm. Firstly, the capabilities of the IVBSO algorithm to determine better solutions over other heuristic algorithms are confirmed using the IEEE 33-bus test system. Secondly, the BijanAbad distribution system (BDS) is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed optimization problem. Accordingly, the distribution system model, cumulative distribution function of wind speed, and load profile are all extracted from the actual data of the BijanAbad region. Finally, the optimization problem is applied to BDS in both the lead and lag modes of WTs. Results indicate that the total costs of DISCO are lower when WTs operate in the lag mode than in the lead mode.

TRANSVERSE VIBRATION OF A HANGING NONUNIFORM NANOSCALE TUBE BASED ON NONLOCAL ELASTICITY THEORY WITH SURFACE EFFECTS

The aim of this paper is to study the free transverse vibration of a hanging nonuni- form nanoscale tube. The analysis procedure is based on nonlocal elasticity theory with surface effects. The nonlocal elasticity theory states that the stress at a point is a function of strains at all points in the continuum. This theory becomes significant for small-length scale objects such as micro- and nanostructures. The effects of nonlocality, surface energy and axial force on the natural frequencies of the nanotube are investigated. In this study, analytical solutions are formulated for a clamped-free Euler-Bernoulli beam to study the free vibration of nanoscale tubes.

Fabrication of phosphor bronze/Al two-phase material by recycling phosphor bronze chips using hot extrusion process and investigation of their microstructural and mechanical properties

Despite the existence of conventional methods for recycling chips,solid-state techniques have become popular,whereby waste metals are directly recycled into consolidated products with the desired shapes and *** investigated the feasibility of recycling phosphor bronze chips through a hot extrusion process using aluminum powder as a metal binder for the fabrication of a metal-fiber-reinforced aluminum matrix *** do so,mixtures containing 20 vol%–50 vol%of chips were prepared,cold-compacted,and *** quality of the consolidated samples was evaluated by determining the density of the fabricated composites and studying their *** addition,we performed tensile and hardness tests to evaluate the mechanical properties of the fabricated *** also analyzed the fracture surfaces of the samples to study the fracture mechanism as a function of the volume fraction of phosphor bronze chips in the fabricated *** results indicated that the most effective consolidation occurred in the sample containing 20 vol%of chips extruded at 465℃in which the chips serve as ideal fibers for improving the mechanical properties,especially the ultimate tensile strength,in comparison with those of Al matrixes that contain no chips but are produced under the same conditions.

Performance of passive and reactive profiled median barriers in traffic noise reduction

Median noise barriers, like parallel noise barriers, can be employed to reduce the impact of traffic on roadside communities via the direct propagation path. The performance of different shapes of median barriers was compared using reactive and passive surfaces and a 2D boundary element method (BEM). In the case of reactive surfaces, quadratic residue diffusers (QRDs) and primitive root diffusers (PRDs) were used on the top and stem surfaces of median barriers. To introduce passive barriers, two different absorbent materials including fibrous material and a grass surface with flow resistivity of 20 000 and 2500 kg/(s·m2), respectively, were similarly applied. The effect of thin absorptive barriers was similar at lower frequencies and better at mid and high frequencies to that of their equivalent rigid barriers. More improvement was achieved by covering the top surface of thick barriers with grass rather than with fibrous material. The performance of QRD and PRD barriers where the diffuser was located on the top surface was more frequency dependent than that of barriers coated with fibrous material. A comparison of the average A-weighted insertion loss in the thick barriers showed that the greatest improvement (2.59 dB (A)) was achieved using a barrier of 30-cm thickness covered with grass.

Finding buckling points for nonlinear structures by dynamic relaxation scheme

An Alternative Technique for Compounding and Fabrication of Lithium Ion Conductive PVB Films with Enhanced Thermal Properties and Electrochromic Performance

This research concerns the development of lithium ions conductive electrolyte from poly(vinyl butyral)(PVB)resin for use as a special interlayer film in electrochromic *** obtain the final PVB film with high ionic conductivity and thermal stability,a masterbatch was firstly prepared by mixing of PVB resin with lithium salt(LiClO_(4))and additives in an aqueous ethanol *** this,the dried masterbatch were converted into final films by an extrusion *** this study,PVB film with the highest ionic conductivity value of 4.85×10^(-6) was obtained when the masterbatch was diluted with the neat PVB resin at the weight ratio of 2:1 in the extruder prior to *** results from cyclic voltammetry over 100 cycles,showed that performance of the electrochromic device(ITO/WO_(3)/PVB electrolyte/ITO)fabricated by using the above PVB film is stable and *** overall,this work demonstrates that ion conductive PVB films with compromised ionic conductivity and thermal stability can be prepared via an extrusion process without the need to modify chemical structure of *** was carried out through the masterbatch approach,by introducing (LiClO_(4)) salts into the plasticized PVB via a solution mixing process prior to converting it into a final film via the extrusion process.
