A comparative study of physicochemical and photocatalytic properties of visible light responsive Fe,Gd and P single and tri-doped TiO_2 nanomaterials

High performance Fe-Gd-P tri-doped TiO2 nanoparticles （1 at% for each dopant） were successfully synthesized by a modified sol-gel method. Various analytical and spectroscopic techniques were carried out to determine the physicochemical properties of the prepared samples, including XRD, EDX, FESEM, BET, FFIR, XPS, PL, EIS and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activities of prepared samples were evaluated by photo degradation of methyl orange （MO） and 4-chlorophenol （4- CP） as model pollutants under visible light irradiation. Effects of each dopant on different properties of TiO2 nanoparticles were investigated. Results show that Gd and P doping enhances Ti02 surface textural properties by forming Ti O Gd and Ti-O-P bonds. It is found that Gd plays a superior role in increasing oxygen vacancies and organic species on TiO2 surface. Gd doping also facilitates transferring of the photo-induced charge carriers to the surface adsorbed species. The enhanced electronic band structure and visible light response, as well as high electron lifetime of Fe-Gd-P tri-doped sample is mainly attributed to Fe and Gd doping. The tri-doped TiO2 with rate constant ofkapp - 1.28 ~ 10-2 min-1 for MO and kapp ~ 0.94 ~ 10-2 min-1 for 4-CP, shows the highest photodegradation rate among all samples including undoped and single doped samples. The improved photocatalytic performance of Fe-Gd-P tri- doped Ti02 is due to the synergistic effect of enhanced surface chemistry and textural properties, increased number of surface adsorbed hydroxyl groups and organic species, improved visible light ab- sorption, increased lifetime of the photo-induced electron/hole pairs and boosted interfacial charge transfer.

Effects of rice husk biochar on selected soil properties and nitrate leaching in loamy sand and clay soil

Biochar is a product of pyrolysis of biomass in the absence of oxygen and has a high potential to sequester carbon into more stable soil organic carbon (OC).Despite the large number of studies on biochar and soil properties,few studies have investigated the effects of biochar in contrasting *** current research was conducted to evaluate the effects of different biochar levels (0 (as control),1% and 3%) on several soil physiochemical properties and nitrate leaching in two soil types (loamy sand and clay)under greenhouse conditions and wet-dry *** experiment was performed using a randomized design with three levels of biochar produced from rice husks at 500 ℃ in three *** exchange capacity increased significantly,by 20% and 30% in 1% and 3% biochar-amended loamy sand soil,respectively,and increases were 9% and 19% in 1% and 3% biochar-amended clay soil,*** sand soil did not show improvement in aggregate indices,including mean weight diameter,geometric mean diameter,water stable aggregates and fractal dimension,which was contrary to the results for the clay *** husk biochar application at the both rates decreased nitrate leaching in the clay soil more than in the loamy *** study highlights the importance of soil type in determining the value of biochar as a soil amendment to improve soil properties,particularly soil aggregation and reduced nitrate *** benefits of the biochar in the clay soil were greater than in the loamy sand soil.

Estimation of hydraulic jump on corrugated bed using artificial neural networks and genetic programming

Artificial neural networks （ANNs） and genetic programming （GP） have recently been used for the estimation of hydraulic data. In this study, they were used as alternative tools to estimate the characteristics of hydraulic jumps, such as the free surface location and energy dissipation. The dimensionless hydraulic parameters, including jump depth, jump length, and energy dissipation, were determined as functions of the Froude number and the height and length of corrugations. The estimations of the ANN and GP models were found to be in good agreement with the measured data. The results of the ANN model were compared with those of the GP model, showing that the proposed ANN models are much more accurate than the GP models.

Prediction of machining chatter in milling based on dynamic FEM simulations of chip formation

Chatter vibration is a major obstacle inachieveing increased machining performance. In thisresearch, a finite element model of chip formation in a 2Dmilling process is used to predict the occurrence of chattervibrations, and to investigate the effects of variousmachining parameters on this phenomenon. The dynamicproperties of the machine tool at the tool tip are obtainedbased on experimental modal analysis, and are used in themodel as the cutter dynamics. The model allows for thenatural development of vibration as the result of the chip-tool engagement, and accounts for various phenomena thatoccur at the chip-tool interface ultimately leading tostable or unstable cutting. The model was used todemonstrate the effects of the machining parameters, suchas the axial depth of cut, radial immersion, and feed rate,on the occurrence of chatter. Additionally, the phenomenonof jumping out of the cut region could be observed in thismodel and its effect on the chatter process is *** numerical model is verified based on comparisons withexperimental results.

Forecasting soil temperature at multiple-depth with a hybrid artificial neural network model coupledhybrid firefly optimizer algorithm

Forecasting soil temperature at multiple depths is considered to be a core decision-making task for examining future changes in surface and sub-surface meteorological processes,land-atmosphere energy exchange,resilient agricultural systems for improved crop health and eco-environmental risk *** aim of this paper is to estimate monthly soil temperature(ST)at multiple depth:5,10,20,50 and 100 cm with a hybrid multi-layer perceptron algorithm integrated with the firefly optimizer algorithm(MLP-FFA).To develop the hybrid MLP-FFA model,the monthly ST and relevant meteorological variables for the city of Adana(Turkey)are collated for the period of 2000–*** of hybrid MLP-FFA model is drawn upon a limited set of predictors,denoted as soil depth,periodicity(or the respective month),air temperature,pressure and solar radiation,while the objective variable for MLP-FFA model is the forecasted ST at multiple *** the evaluate MLPFFA,statistical metrics applied to test the model’s performance are:the root mean square error(RMSE),mean absolute error(MAE),mean absolute percentage error(MAPE)and mean bias error(MBE)where the sign of the difference is also *** conjunction with statistical metrics,a Taylor diagram is utilized to visualize the degree of similarity between the observed and forecasted soil *** terms of the forecasted results,the hybrid MLPFFA model is seen to outperform the standalone MLP *** optimal MLP-FFA is attained for soil temperature forecasting at a depth of 20 cm(RMSE,MAPE of 0.546C,2.40%)whereas the optimal MLP is attained for soil temperature forecasting at a depth of 50 cm(RMSE of 0.544℃,2.21%).Conclusively,the study advocates through statistical metrics attained the better utility of the hybrid MLP-FFA hybrid *** its superior performance,it is ascertained that the hybrid MLP model integrated with Firefly optimizer is a qualified ancillary tool that can be applied to generate precise soil temperat

Exploring the relationship between ambient sulfur dioxide and semen quality parameters:A systematic review and meta-analysis

Objective:To investigate the relationship between ambient sulfur dioxide(SO2)exposure and semen quality ***:A systematic literature search was conducted to identify relevant studies investigating the association between SO2 exposure and semen quality *** search encompassed the timeframe from January 2000 to May 2023 and included electronic databases such as Web of Science,Google Scholar,PubMed,Cochrane,and *** effect estimates with 95%confidence intervals(CI)were calculated using percent changes(PC).The meta-analysis included seven studies with 6711 participants and 15087 semen ***:The results revealed a significant negative association between ambient SO2 exposure and certain semen quality *** particular,SO2 exposure was associated with a significant decrease in progressive motility(PC=0.032;95%CI:-0.063 to-0.001;P=0.044)and sperm concentration(PC=-0.020;95%CI:-0.036 to-0.005;P=0.012).However,no statistically significant associations were observed for total sperm count(PC=-0.038;95%CI:-0.079 to 0.003;P=0.070),seminal fluid volume(PC=-0.009;95%CI:-0.048 to-0.030;P=0.662)and sperm motility(PC=-0.17;95%CI:-0.363 to 0.022;P=0.830).In addition,the results of the subgroup analysis revealed specific variables that were associated with the decrease in relevant sperm ***:This systematic review and meta-analysis provides compelling evidence supporting a consistent negative association between exposure to ambient SO2 and semen quality parameters.

Prediction of asphaltene precipitation using support vector regression tuned with genetic algorithms

Due to the severe and costly problems caused by asphaltene precipitation in petroleum industry,developing a quick and accurate model,to predict the asphaltene precipitation under different conditions,seems *** this study,a new model,namely genetic algorithm e support vector regression(GA-SVR)is proposed,which is applied to predict the amount of asphaltene *** is used to select the best optimal values of SVR parameters and kernel parameter,simultaneously,to increase the generalization performance of the *** GA-SVR model is trained and tested on the experimental data sets reported in *** performance of the GASVR model is compared with two scaling equation models,using statistical error measures and graphical *** results show that the prediction performance of the proposed model,is highly reliable and satisfactory.

Application of Rice Husk Biochar for Achieving Sustainable Agriculture and Environment

This paper critically reviewed the current knowledge and challenges of rice husk biochar(RHB)production and its effects on soil properties,plant growth,immobilization of heavy metals,reduction of nutrient leaching and mitigation of greenhouse gas *** characteristics of RHBs produced at various pyrolysis temperatures were discussed and compared to biochars derived from other agro-industrial *** produced at higher pyrolysis temperatures show lower hydrogen/carbon ratio,which suggests the presence of higher aromatic carbon *** increase of pyrolysis temperature also results in production of RHBs with higher ash content,lower yield and higher surface *** usually has higher silicon and ash contents and lower carbon content compared to biochars derived from other feedstocks at the same pyrolysis *** it depends on soil type,RHB application can improve soil organic carbon content,cation exchange capacity,available K concentration,bulk density and microbial *** effect of RHB on soil aggregation mainly depends on soil *** growth of different crops is also enhanced by application of *** addition to soil can immobilize heavy metals and herbicides and reduce their *** application shows a significant capacity in reduction of nitrate leaching,although its magnitude depends on the biochar application rate and soil biogeochemical *** of RHB,especially in paddy fields,shows a promising mitigation effect on greenhouse gas(CH4,CO2 and N2O)*** RHB characteristics are also related to other factors such as pyrolysis heating rate and residence time,its performance for specific applications(*** sequestration,pH amendment)can be manipulated by adjusting the pyrolysis *** research is needed on long-term field applications of RHB to fully understand the advantages and disadvantages of RHB as a soil amendment.

Hazards and disasters have always negative impacts on the way of *** is an overwhelming natural as well as man-made disaster that causes loss of natural resources and human properties throughout *** present study aimed to assess and compare the prediction efficiency of different models in landslide susceptibility in the Kysuca river basin,*** this regard,the fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory combining with the analytic network process(FDEMATEL-ANP),Naïve Bayes(NB)classifier,and random forest(RF)classifier were ***,a landslide inventory map was produced with 2000 landslide and nonlandslide points by randomly dividedwith a ratio of 70%:30%for training and testing,*** geospatial database for assessing the landslide susceptibility was generated with the help of 16 landslide conditioning factors by allowing for topographical,hydrological,lithological,and land cover *** ReliefF methodwas considered for determining the significance of selected conditioning factors and inclusion in the model ***,the landslide susceptibility maps(LSMs)were generated using the FDEMATEL-ANP,Naïve Bayes(NB)classifier,and random forest(RF)classifier ***,the area under curve(AUC)and different arithmetic evaluation were used for validating and comparing the results and *** results revealed that random forest(RF)classifier is a promising and optimum model for landslide susceptibility in the study area with a very high value of area under curve(AUC=0.954),lower value of mean absolute error(MAE=0.1238)and root mean square error(RMSE=0.2555),and higher value of Kappa index(K=0.8435)and overall accuracy(OAC=92.2%).
