Objective:The current study investigated the efficacy of total ethanolic extract and various fractions of Gazania rigens to protect against carbon tetrachloride-induced liver and kidney damage in rats and evaluated their antioxidant ***:The antioxidant activity of the total extract and fractions(petroleum ether,ethyl acetate,and aqueous)of Gazania rigens was examined using 2,2’-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging and phosphomolybdate assays,and their total phenolic and flavonoid contents were *** hepatoprotective and nephroprotective potentials were studied at a dose of 300 mg/kg for six consecutive days followed by induction of hepatorenal injury using carbon tetrachloride single dose(1.5 mL/kg,1:1 v/v in olive oil,intraperitoneal)the next ***:The results revealed the potent hepato and nephroprotective effects of ethyl acetate and aqueous fractions by significantly(Ping the serum levels of alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase,total bilirubin,creatinine,urea,triglycerides,cholesterol,and lactate dehydrogenase,along with elevated serum albumin *** improvement of hepatic and renal antioxidant capacities and catalase activities,together with the prominent reduction of hepatic and renal malondialdehyde contents,were confirmed by histopathological ***:The potent hepatoprotective and nephroprotective effects of the total extract and different fractions of Gazania rigens may be attributed to the presence of highly phenolic and flavonoid compounds along with their complementary antioxidant scavenging properties.

introduction: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the most common causes of death worldwide. in 2010, about 7 out of total 53 million deaths were due to ischemic heart disease. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship of serum bilirubin level with the severity and complexity of coronary artery disease (CAD) in the patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCi). Materials and Methods: 70 patients with STEMi who were undergoing primary PCi were included in the study. All the patients included in the study were subjected to full routine investigations and standard coronary angiographic projections. Total bilirubin level was measured and the patients were divided into two groups. Group 1 was with serum TB (and Group 2 was with serum TB (>1 mg/dl). Severity and complexity of coronary artery lesions will be assessed using Gensini score. Results: After PCi, the two studied groups were compared regarding the number of vessels affected by one and more than one vessel disease. Single vessel disease was frequent in Group 2 (71%) with significant p value (0.003). Cardiac enzymes (troponin i) was more in Group 1 (S. Bil value (0.02). Also (ALT, AST) were more in Group 1 (p value = 0.01). By comparing the 2 groups, there was a significant difference regarding (EF) between both which was less in Group 1 (*** 1), p value significance (0, 0001). Also GENSENi was more in Group 1 (*** 1) with mean (80.35 vs 34.71) and significant pvalue (0.0001). There was a highly significant negative correlation between serum bilirubin & GENSENi score (r = -0.762, p value 0.0001). Regarding the incidence of complications, incidence was more in Group 1 (*** 1), which means a significant difference between both groups with significant p value (0.0001). There was a significant negative correlation between serum bilirubin & incidence of complications (R = -0.38, pvalue 0.001). The bis(nitrito-N) cobalt(iii) octaethylporphyrin derivative with the formula [K(18-C-6)(NO2)0.5(H2O)0.5]2 [Coiii(OEP)(NO2)2] (1) (OEP = octaethylporphyrin and 18-C-6 is the crown ether18-crown-6) has been synthesized and characterized by UV-vis, iR and proton NMR spectroscopy which indicate, inter alia, that the cobalt ion presents the oxidation state iii. The synthesis utilizes 18-crown-6 to solubilize potassium nitrite in the synthetic procedure. This compound crystallizes in the triclinic system, with the centric space group P-1 and the following unit cell parameters: 11.6724(2) ?, b = 12.5715(2) ?, c = 13.4722(3) ?, α = 101.1290(6)°, β = 106.6498(6)°, γ= 109.1507(6)°, Z = 1 and V = 1696.74(5) ?3. The crystal structure has been solved and refined to R = 0.0499 and R(w) = 0.1319. The X-rays molecular structure of 1 shows that there is a relatively close interaction of both two NO2- axial ligands of the ion complex [Coiii(OEP)(NO2)2]- with the potassium atoms of the two counterions [K(18-C-6) (NO2)0.5(H2O)0.5]0.5+. The title compound exhibits one-dimension polymer-like structure where “monomers” are linked together through strong O(H2O)—H…O(nitrito-O) hydrogen bonds.

Physiological Characteristics of Rhizobia isolated from Retama raetam （Forsk） and Lupinus various （L.） indigenous to Libyan Desert

A total of 20 rhizobial isolates obtained from root-nodules of Retama raetam （Forsk） and Lupinus various （L.） were studied for their ability to tolerate local environmental and chemical stresses. Six fast and one slow growing reference strains were included for comparison. Numerical analysis showed that the reference strains were separated from test isolates. The majority of isolates displayed a high tolerance to extreme temperatures; some even grew at 48 ℃ and grew at alkaline and acid pH. Regarding tolerance to salinity on agar medium, the majority of the isolates grew at 6% NaCl, but some isolates from Lupinus various were more resistant, grew even at 8% NaCl. Most isolates were resistant to heavy metals, but were sensitive to most antibiotics tested.

The main object of this paper is the mathematical study of the vibration behavior in ultrasonic machining (USM) described by non-linear differential equations. The ultrasonic machining (USM) consists of the tool holder and the absor-bers representing the tools. This leads to four-degree-of-freedom system subject to multi-external excitation forces. The aim of this project is the reduction of the vibrations in the tool holder and have reasonable amplitudes for the tools represented by the multi-absorbers. Multiple scale perturbation method is applied to obtain the solution up to the second order approximation and to study the stability of the steady state solution near different simultaneous resonance cases. The resulting different resonance cases are reported and studied numerically. The stability of the steady state solution near the selected resonance cases is studied applying both frequency response equations and phase-plane technique. The effects of the different parameters of the system and the absorbers on the system behavior are studied numerically. Optimum working conditions for the tools were obtained. Comparison with the available published work is reported.

AiM To evaluate the evolution, trends in surgical approaches a n d r e c o n s t r u c t i o n t e c h n i q u e s, a n d i m p o r t a n t lessons learned from performing 1000 consecutive pancreaticoduodenectomies(PDs) for periampullary *** This is a retrospective review of the data of all patients who underwent PD for periampullary tumor during the period from January 1993 to April 2017. The data were categorized into three periods, including early period(1993-2002), middle period(2003-2012), and late period(2013-2017).RESULTS The frequency showed PD was increasingly performed after the year 2000. With time, elderly, cirrhotic and obese patients, as well as patients with uncinate process carcinoma and borderline tumor were increasingly selected for PD. The median operative time and postoperative hospital stay decreased significantly over the periods. Hospital mortality declined significantly, from 6.6% to 3.1%. Postoperative complications significantly decreased, from 40% to 27.9%. There was significant decrease in postoperative pancreatic fistula in the second 10 years, from 15% to 12.7%. There was a significant improvement in median survival and overall survival among the *** Surgical results of PD significantly improved, with mortality rate nearly reaching 3%. Pancreatic reconstruction following PD is still debatable. The survival rate was also improved but the rate of recurrence is still high, at 36.9%.

Background: Fixation of bone flap following craniotomy is usually achieved by synthetic materials. in rural and poor funding areas, innovation for cheap, safe and applicable material is needed. Purpose: The aim is to assess our new innovative technique in bone flap fixation against traditional techniques. Patients and Methods: The study was a prospective randomized controlled study enrolled at Al-Amal Hospital and Al-Ahly Bank Hospital from 2014-2019. Forty-eight patients were randomized in the study. Group A (24 patients) underwent titanium miniplate fixation while group B (24 patients) underwent our new technique. The new technique is double J tunnels performed by craniotome on either side of the bone (flap and skull sides), then a Prolene suture is passed through the shared stem of J’ holes and secured in the wrapped side of J’s holes and tying it tightly. Both techniques were examined against fixation time, rigidity, offset and final judgment postoperatively. Result: There was no statistically significant difference in using both techniques as regard fixation time. Our new technique was not inferior to the traditional one in achieving rigidity (p > 0.05). The final postoperative assessment was as equal as that seen in miniplate fixation. Conclusion: This technique is a simple, easy, cheap and effective method of fixing craniotomy bone flap.

introduction: The treatment of metastatic breast cancer (MBC) is still challenging. Many studies documented the efficacy of pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) in patients with MBC, but there is a limited data about the cardiac safety with high cumulative dose (HCD) of PLD. Aim of the work: We conducted this trial to outline the cardiac safety of HCD of PLD in patients with MBC who previously received conventional anthracyclines. Methods: During the period of nine years (January 2011 to December 2019). We extracted the data of the patients with MBC receiving PLD at Medical Oncology Department, South Egypt Cancer Institute, Assiut University. These included patients’ demographics and therapeutic data including the full data of PLD, prior conventional anthracyclines, prior trastuzumab, and prior radiotherapy.
