Insects are well recognized as a source of potentially useful compounds for modern medicine. Development of anticancer drugs from natural resources has been performed throughout the world. In the present study, anticancer activity of the hemolymph and fat body of Sarcophaga argyrostoma third larval instars is assayed against human breast cancer cell line (MDA-MB-231 cells). The cytotoxicity of the hemolymph and fat body samples were determined. The results showed that growth of MDA-MB-231 cells was inhibited at different concentrations upon 24 h of exposure. There is no inhibitory activity against Vero cells under these experimental conditions. Protein profile of the hemolymph and fat body were extracted and separated using sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Protein analysis showed differences in number of electrophoretic protein bands with different molecular weights between treated and control larvae. The present work assumes that hemolymph and fat body tissue have cytotoxicity against MDA-MB-231 cells and these results exhibit that larvae from S. argyrostoma could be used as a good source for developing anti-cancer agents and knowledge of these anti-cancer compounds will lead to better control of human disease.

Reaction of indole-3-carboxaldehydes 4 with hydrazine derivatives and different substituted acid hydrazides afforded the corresponding hydrazine derivatives 5a-c and acid hydrazide derivatives 7-11 respectively. Condensation of indole-3-carboxaldehydes 4 with phenacyl bromide and thiourea gives 1,3-thiazol-2-amine derivative 18. On the other hand, reaction 4 with 3-acetylchromene-2-one afforded chalcone derivative 19. Compound 4 undergoing Knoevenagel condensation with cyanoacetamide, ethyl cyanoacetate, benzimidazol-2-ylacetonitrile, rhodanine-3-acetic acid, 2,3-dihydropyrimidin-4-one derivative and 2,4-dihydropyrazol-3-one afforded the compounds 20a,b, 22, 23, 27 and 28 respectively. The structure of the newly synthesized compounds has been confirmed by elemental analysis and spectra data. In this paper, based on a new type of censoring scheme called an adaptive type-II progressive censoring scheme introduce by Ng et al. [1], Naval Research Logistics is considered. Based on this type of censoring the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE), Bayes estimation, and parametric bootstrap method are used for estimating the unknown parameters. Also, we propose to apply Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) technique to carry out a Bayesian estimation procedure and in turn calculate the credible intervals. Point estimation and confidence intervals based on maximum likelihood and bootstrap method are also proposed. The approximate Bayes estimators obtained under the assumptions of non-informative priors, are compared with the maximum likelihood estimators. Numerical examples using real data set are presented to illustrate the methods of inference developed here. Finally, the maximum likelihood, bootstrap and the different Bayes estimates are compared via a Monte Carlo simulation study.

Dielectric barrier discharge is used as a cheap technique for surface treatment of polycarbonate. The discharge system is working in open air at atmospheric pressure. The treatments are carried out at low discharge powers (1.5 and 2 W) for treatment time (2.5 - 15 min). The treated samples show decrease in the contact angle and increase in the crystallinity, thermal stability and surface roughness. The effect of ozone on the increase in the oxygen containing functional groups is discussed. The treatment process shows effective limitation of the migration of bisphenol A from the surface of polycarbonate due to the cross linking. Zero migration of bisphenole A is recorded as the sample is treated for 7.5 min. The treatment process is found to be very efficient with very low cost.

Seeking ways to diminish Egypt’s dependency on foreign oil imports, we had to look for the obvious resources to exploit. Oil shale is one of Egypt’s resources that are left abandoned and not used. This project is aiming at introducing both experimental analysis for oil shale in Egypt and the best production technique for it. This study is about experimentally analyzing different samples of potential oil shale fields in Egypt. Samples that are analyzed in this project are from two locations in Egypt: Quseir-Safaga and Abu-Tartur Western Desert, and they are compared to one of the best oil shale fields in the world, which is from Green River Formation Colorado. The experiments were done using AUC lab retort to experimentally determine the critical temperature that will lead to the maximum production using sudden and gradual change in temperatures, which turned out to be sudden change at 500°C. Thereafter, the degree of API gravity was calculated for each run. Then the oil samples were determined for impurities and liquid chromatography results in the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute. Part two of the study plan has been included to determine the ultimate ways of producing efficiently, ecologically and economically.

Introduction: Female sexual dysfunction (FSD) is a serious problem that affects negatively the quality of life, interpersonal relationships and female self- confidence and might be a direct cause of psychopathological disturbances. Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) is a common cosmetically disturbing condition affecting many women with social and psychological consequences. Aim of the Work: Assessment of the relationship between female sexual dysfunction and Female pattern hair loss in premenopausal females. Methods: A case-control study was carried on 47 female patients with FPHL and 43 age- matched control women without FPHL among premenopausal women attending dermatology and Andrology outpatient’s clinics, Suez Canal University hospital during the period from May 2018 to January 2019. History taking, clinical examination and hormonal investigation (Free Testosterone, Total Testosterone, and SHBG) were performed to all participants in the study. Main Outcome Measures: The Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) was used to assess the key aspects of female sexual function in patients and controls. FPHL was diagnosed and graded by Ludwig’s classification. Results: Mean age of patients group was 30.12 ± 5.49 years, Regarding FPHL grading, 55.3%, 42.6% & 2.1% of patients were grades 1, 2 and 3 Ludwig’s classification respectively. FSD was found in 44.7% of patients while it was 44.2% in control group (P > 0.05). FSFI score in patients group was 26.40 ± 4.61 and in control group was 27.05 ± 3.12 (P > 0.05). Correlation between FSD prevalence and grade of FPHL by Ludwig’s classification was statistically insignificant. FSD was significantly compromised by increasing age and parity in patients and control groups (P Conclusions: The present study suggests that FSD was not significantly related to FPHL. Increasing traffic loading and volumes on roads have led to the use of polymer modified binders to improve the performance of bitumen in terms of strength, durability, and resistance to rutting. This research studies the effect of adding poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) with different molecular weights on asphalt properties. PMMA polymer was prepared via solution polymerization of MMA using dibenzoyl peroxide (DBPO) as initiator. By controlling the time of reaction, two different molecular weights were obtained: PMMA1 and PMMA2 with Mw 21.000 and 30.000, respectively. The morphological studies of polymer modified binder were discussed. Physical properties of PMMA modified asphalt including penetration value, softening point, and kinematic viscosity at 135°C and 150°C were examined. The aging properties of polymer modified asphalts were examined using thin film oven test (TFOT). A hot storage stability test was carried out for polymer modified binder. Indirect tensile strength (ITS) test and durability performance of modified asphalts were evaluated using Marshall Test. Resilient modulus (RM) test was evaluated using Universal Testing Machine. Results showed that the inclusion of PMMA polymer in asphalt binder has significantly improved its properties. The achieved improvement was found to be dependent on polymer molecular weight. Moreover, the results explained that the compatibility between PMMA and asphalt binder is improved upon further aging especially with low molecular weight polymer (PMMA).
