This article introduces a new medical internet of things(IoT)framework for intelligent fall detection system of senior people based on our proposed deep forest *** cascade multi-layer structure of deep forest classifier allows to generate new features at each level with minimal hyperparameters compared to deep neural ***,the optimal number of the deep forest layers is automatically estimated based on the early stopping criteria of validation accuracy value at each generated *** suggested forest classifier was successfully tested and evaluated using a public SmartFall dataset,which is acquired from three-axis accelerometer in a *** includes 92781 training samples and 91025 testing samples with two labeled classes,namely non-fall and *** results of our deep forest classifier demonstrated a superior performance with the best accuracy score of 98.0%compared to three machine learning models,i.e.,K-nearest neighbors,decision trees and traditional random forest,and two deep learning models,which are dense neural networks and convolutional neural *** considering security and privacy aspects in the future work,our proposed medical IoT framework for fall detection of old people is valid for real-time healthcare application deployment.

Hydrocarbons,carbon monoxide and other pollutants from the transportation sector harm human health in many *** cell(FC)has been evolving rapidly over the past two decades due to its efficient mechanism to transform the chemical energy in hydrogen-rich compounds into electrical *** main drawback of the standalone FC is its slow dynamic response and its inability to supply rapid variations in the load ***,adding energy storage systems is ***,to manage and distribute the power-sharing among the hybrid proton exchange membrane(PEm)fuel cell(FC),battery storage(BS),and supercapacitor(SC),an energy management strategy(EmS)is *** this research work,an optimal EmS based on a spotted hyena optimizer(SHO)for hybrid PEm fuel cell/BS/SC is *** main goal of an EmS is to improve the performance of hybrid FC/BS/SC and to reduce the amount of hydrogen *** prove the superiority of the SHO method,the obtained results are compared with the chimp optimizer(CO),the artificial ecosystem-based optimizer(AEO),the seagull optimization algorithm(SOA),the sooty tern optimization algorithm(STOA),and the coyote optimization algorithm(COA).Two main metrics are used as a benchmark for the comparison:the minimum consumed hydrogen and the efficiency of the *** main findings confirm that the minimum amount of hydrogen consumption and maximum efficiency are achieved by the proposed SHO based EmS.

Synthesis of activated carbon from spent tea leaves for aspirin removal

Adsorption capacity of activated carbon prepared from spent tea leaves （STL-AC） for the removal of aspirin from aqueous solution was investigated in this study. Preliminary studies have shown that treatment with phosphoric acid （H3PO4） increased removal efficiency of STL-AC. Characterizations on STL-AC revealed excellent textural properties （1200 m2.g-1, 51% mesoporosity）, as well as distinctive surface chemistry （1.08 mmol.g-1 and 0.54 mmol.g-1 for acidic and basic oxygenated groups, pHpzc = 2.02）. maximum removal efficiency of aspirin observed was 94.28% after 60 rain when the initial concentration was 100 mg.L-1, 0.5 g of adsorbent used, pH 3 and at a temperature of 30 ℃. The adsorption data were well fitted to the Freundlich isotherm model and obeyed the pseudo-second order kinetics model. The adsorption of aspirin onto STL-AC was exothermic in nature （△H = - 13.808 ***-1） and had a negative entropy change, △S （-41.444 ***-1）. A negative Gibbs free energy, △G was obtained indicating feasibility and spontaneity of the adsorption process. The adsorp- tion capacity of △C-STL （178.57 mg.g-1） is considerably high compared to most adsorbents synthesized from various sources, due to the well-defined textural properties coupled with surface chemistry of STL-AC which fa- vors aspirin adsorption. The results demonstrate the potential of STL-AC as aspirin adsorbent.

Thermal degradation of diethanolamine at stripper condition for CO2 capture: Product types and reaction mechanisms

Amine-based absorption/stripping is one of the promising technology for CO2 capture from natural and industrial gas *** the process,amines and CO2 undergo irreversible reactions to produce undesired compounds,which cause corrosion,foaming,increased viscosity and breakdown of equipment,ultimately contributing to the economic loss and environmental *** this study,the thermal degradation of aqueous diethanolamine in the presence and absence of dissolved CO2 was *** experiments were performed in stainless steel *** results show that thermal degradation in the absence of CO2 was a slow process;triethanolamine,and tris(2-aminoethyl)amine were only the degradation products identified in the mixture In addition,the rate of degradation was very low,only 3%degradation was observed after 4 *** in the presence of CO2,sixteen degradation products were identified,nine of which were new degradation products reported for the first time in this *** 3-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-oxazolidinone,1,4-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine and triethanolamine were the most abundant degradation *** remaining DEA concentration after 4 weeks was about 20%of the total amine *** most probable degradation reactions and their mechanisms are also proposed.

An early discharge approach for managing hospital capacity

The Kidney and Oncology Departments at Zagazig University Hospital are suffering from increased demand and limited *** patients who find all beds occupied are simply turned away,i.e.,no waiting is *** paper investigates the impact of an early discharge approach that can be applied to patients that have been scheduled to discharge within 5 h.A discrete event simulation(DES)model is built using empirical distributions based on real *** model has been validated against real data and the results have shown that the proposed early discharge approach can reduce the number of turned away patients by 10%in the Kidney Department,equivalent to 182 patients annually and by 11%in the Oncology Department,equivalent to 150 patients annually.

Efect of early feeding practices and eating behaviors on body composition in primary school children

Background Understanding children’s feeding practices and eating behaviors is important to determine etiology of childhood *** study aimed to explore the relationship between early feeding practices,eating behavior and body composition among primary school *** The data were collected from 403 primary school *** were administered structured questionnaire,including sociodemographic characteristics,early feeding practices and Child’s Eating Behavior *** and blood pressure(BP)measurements were *** Children with obesity and overweight showed higher food approach subscales and lower food avoidance subscales compared to a healthy and underweight *** who were exclusively or predominantly breast fed during the frst 6 months had the lowest scores for the food approach subscales,food responsiveness(FR)and emotional overeating(EOE)and had the highest scores for the food avoidance subscales,satiety responsiveness(SR)and emotional under eating(EUE).Children who were introduced solid food after 6 months showed lower scores for FR,enjoyment of food and EOE but scored highest for SR,slowness in eating(SE)and *** anthropometric measurements were positively correlated with all food approach subscales and negatively with SE,SR and food *** food approach subscales were positively correlated with BP *** food avoidance subscales were negatively correlated with both BP percentiles,except for EUE,which was negatively correlated with diastolic BP percentile ***,SR,SE and FR were predictors for child body mass *** Early feeding practices and eating behavior are considered as prevention approaches for obesity.

The vitreomacular interface in different types of agerelated macular degeneration

AIm： To evaluate the vitreomacular interface in cases with wet age-related macular degeneration（AmD） and to compare them to eyes with dry AmD and normal ***： This was a cross-sectional comparative study that included 87 eyes with wet AmD,42 eyes with dry AmD and 40 eyes without AmD as a control *** coherence tomography（OCT） examination was performed for all patients to assess the vitreomacular ***： In the wet AmD group,34.5% of cases had vitreomacular adhesion（VmA）.Only 14.3% of dry AmD cases and 10% of control cases had *** was a significant difference between the control group and the wet AmD group（P=0.004） as well as the dry and wet AmD group（P=0.017）.There was also a significant difference between the incidence of VmA in patients with subretinal choroidal neovascularization（CNV,type 1） and intraretinal CNV（type 2 or type 3）（P=0.020）.CONCLUSION： There is an association between posterior vitreous attachment and *** is also an increased incidence of VmA with intra-retinal CNV.
