This study aimed to assess the inhibitory activities of methanol extracts from the microalgae Ankistrodesmus convolutus,Synechococcus elongatus,and Spirulina platensis against Epstein-Barr virus(EBV) in three Burkitt's lymphoma(BL) cell lines,namely Akata,B95-8,and *** antiviral activity was assessed by quantifying the cell-free EBV DNA using real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR) *** methanol extracts from Ankistrodesmus convolutus and Synechococcus elongatus displayed low cytotoxicity and potent effect in re-ducing cell-free EBV DNA(EC50ml) with a high therapeutic index(>28 000).After fractionation by column chromatography,the fraction from Synechococcus elongatus(SEF1) reduced the cell-free EBV DNA most effectively(EC50=2.9 μg/ml,therapeutic index>69).Upon further fractionation by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC),the sub-fraction SEF1'a was most active in reducing the cell-free EBV DNA(EC50=1.38 μg/ml,therapeutic index>14.5).This study suggests that microalgae could be a potential source of antiviral compounds that can be used against EBV.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to clarify the role of laparoscopy in the etiological diagnosis of exudative ascites of unknown origin in women. materials and methods: This?was?a prospective study from 2007 to 2012, including 83 women with exudative ascites of unknown origin and had a laparoscopy diagnostic purpose. Results: Carcinomatosis and peritoneal tuberculosis were the two most common causes found in 31% (26 cases) and 66% (55 cases) of cases respectively. The average age of the patients was 56 years. Weight loss and abdominal pain were the most frequent, observed symptoms in 71 cases (85.5%) and 53 cases (63.8%) respectively. The CT scan abnormalities noted?were a peritoneal thickening in 32 cases (38.5%), peritoneal nodules in 15 cases (18%), and agglutination of the digestive handles in 12 cases (14.4%). Laparoscopic Visual diagnosis was in favor of a peritoneal carcinomatosis in 32 cases (38.5%), peritoneal tuberculosis in 45 cases (54.2%), and non specific infection in 6 cases (7.3%). The histological diagnosis was a peritoneal carcinomatosis in 26 cases (31%), and peritoneal tuberculosis in 55 cases (66%). The positive predictive value of laparoscopic vision Diagnostics in Peritoneal tuberculosis was 100% and the negative predictive value was 73.7%. In peritoneal carcinomatosis, the positive predictive value was 81.3% and the negative predictive value was 100%. Conclusion: The etiologic diagnosis of exudative ascites in women is difficult despite the availability of several tests. Currently, laparoscopy with peritoneal biopsy remains the gold standard for etiologic diagnosis.

In this research, a fast methodology to calculate the exact value of the average dynamic power consumption for CmOS combinational logic circuits is developed. The delay model used is the unit-delay model where all gates have the same propagation delay. The main advantages of this method over other techniques are its accuracy, as it is deterministic and it requires less computational effort compared to exhaustive simulation approaches. The methodology uses the Logic Pictures concept for obtaining the nodes’ toggle rates. The proposed method is applied to well-known circuits and the results are compared to exhaustive simulation and monte Carlosimulation methods.

Objectives This study aimed to investigate clinical leadership behaviors among critical care nurses and compare the differences between nurses in private and public *** A cross-sectional survey including 365 critical care nurses with a bachelor’s degree in nursing science were recruited in two Egyptian hospitals(a government teaching hospital and one private hospital from January to march 2019.A socio-demographic characteristics form and the Clinical Leadership Behaviors Questionnaire(CLB-Q)were used to collect *** comparison and analysis,the mean score was calculated and converted to a percentage *** Results showed that the overall mean score of nurses’clinical leadership behaviors was 77.11±11.87,the level was higher,and the highest score of the communication dimension was 91.84±*** mean score of nurses at a private hospital(90.48±5.53)was higher than that at a government teaching hospital(68.29±4.21)(Pmean score in self-awareness,advocacy and empowerment,decision making,quality and safety,teamwork,and clinical excellence dimension of clinical leadership behavior than those who worked less than 5 years or more than 10 years(Pmean score in advocacy and empowerment,decision making,quality and safety,and clinical excellence dimension of clinical leadership behavior than those who married(Pmanagers should foster clinical leadership by enabling critical care nurses to practice clinical excellence and encouraging their attendance in training programs on quality and *** in government hospitals need improvement in clinical leadership behaviors regarding all dimensions.

Acacia mangium Willd. and Acacia auriculiformis A. Cunn. ex. Benth. are two of the fast-growing tropical acacias which have received priority for genetic assessment and improvement. They were therefore proposed for timber production in a short rotation in malaysia but were impeded by the multiple leaders (mL) formation which limited their value as sawn timber. This work attempts to investigate the causes of mL formation in four genotypes of A. mangium and A. auriculiformis as related to apical dominance, nutrition and plant growth hormones and their correlations. The effects of 6-benzylaminopurine and decapitation on mL formation of these genotypes were also investigated. 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) as a foliar spray and also decapitation did not stimulate mL formation. However, they significantly increased the number of branches and reduced all other growth traits including height. However, basal diameter was not affected by decapitation. The effects of BAP increased consistently with increasing level of application. BAP at 1500 mg·Lǃ resulted in mortality of A. mangium provenances while A. auriculiformis provenances survived and grew normally. Some of the BAP treated plants of both species developed juvenile pinnate leaves. Decapitation of the apical bud resulted in the activation of the lateral bud immediately below the point of decapitation.

An environment friendly and cost effective factor of collapsible soilstabilization with the help of industrial waste has been widely adoptedin this research. Buildings which are constructed on collapsible soils aresubjected to large deformations and shear failure. Collapsible soil can bebroadly categorized as those soils susceptible to a large reduction in volumeupon wetting. The mechanism usually involved in rapid volume reductionentails breaking of bonds at coarse particle contacts by weakening of finegrainedmaterials brought there by surface tension in evaporating *** research presents the effects of using marble dust on the geotechnicalproperties of Collapsible soil as a new stabilizing technique. A series ofexperimental tests are carried for samples of collapsing soil with andwithout stabilization using marble dust for dry and soaked *** collapsible soil was mixed with marble dust at different contents of(0, 10, 20, 30%,40% and50%). The results indicated that, The optimumwater content decreases by 20.67% at marble content of 50%, liquidlimit decreses by35.41% at marble content of 50%and frictional angle forsoaked soil decreases by 66.09% at marble content of 50% while un soakedsoil decreases by54.68% at marble content of 50%. The maximum drydensity increases 5.91% at marble content of 50% and cohesion for soakedincreases314.2% at marble content of 50% while un soaked soil increases206.7% at marble content of 50%. It has been found that the adoptedmarble has a good effect in controlling the collapsing potential which isreduced by as much as 64.32% at marble content of 30%.

Objective: To investigate the presence of trichomoniasis among women attending the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic, Universiti Kebangsaan malaysia medical ***: A total of 139 high vaginal swabs were taken from the subjects and sent to the laboratory in Amies gel transport media. The specimens were examined for the presence of Trichomonas vaginalis using wet mount, Giemsa staining and cultured in Diamond's medium. Sociodemographic characteristics and gynaecological complaints were obtained in private using structured questionnaire applied by one ***: The median age was 32 years, with an interquartile interval of 9.96. most of the subjects were malays(76.9%) and the remaining were Chinese(15.1%), Indians(2.2%)and other ethnic groups(5.8%). One hundred and thirty eight(99.3%) of the women were married and 98.6% had less than 6 children. more than half(75.5%) of the women's last child birth was less than 6 years ago. Forty seven percent of them were involved in supporting administrative work and 64.7% of the women gave a history of previous or current vaginal ***: The present study reported zero incidence rate of trichomoniasis. The low incidence rate was postulated due to all women who participated in this study were categorized into a low-risk group.
