World-wide. studie. have.shown.that the.cost of diabe.e. pe. pe.son.is much highe. than.the.pe. capita he.lth e.pe.diture. This study is the.first to e.timate.the.dire.t an. in.ire.t cost of diabe.e. in.Morocco. The.dire.t cost of diabe.e. was compute. by assumin. thre. sce.arios of price. (low, me.ium an. high) due.to diffe.e.t price. of in.ulin. oral drugs an. othe. ite.s use. in.diabe.e. tre.tme.t an. care. In.ire.t costs of diabe.e. we.e.e.timate. by the.life.ime.forgon.0}e.rn.n.s cause. by pre.ature.de.th an. disability due.to diabe.e.. The.dire.t cost of diabe.e. in.Morocco was e.timate. to be.be.we.n.US $0.47 an. US $1.5 billion.whe.e.s the.in.ire.t cost was e.timate. to be.aroun. US $2 billion.accoun.in. for 57% of the.total cost of diabe.e. un.e. the.high cost sce.ario, 69% un.e. the.me.ium sce.ario an. 81% un.e. the.low cost sce.ario. The.ave.age.pe. capita in.ire.t cost was e.timate. to be.US $1113, re.ative.y highe. than.the.dire.t cost of diabe.e. which was se.n.to vary from US$ 259 to US $830.
