This study presents a new systematic algorithm to optimize the durability of reinforced recycled aggregate *** proposed algorithm integrates machine learning with a new version of the firefly algorithm called chaotic based firefly algorithm(CFA)to evolve a rational and efficient predictive *** CFA optimizer is augmented with chaotic maps and Levy flight to improve the firefly performance in forecasting the chloride penetrability of strengthened recycled aggregate concrete(raC).A comprehensive and credible database of distinctive chloride migration coefficient results is used to establish the developed algorithm.A dataset composite of nine effective parameters,including concrete components and fundamental characteristics of recycled aggregate(ra),is used as input to predict the migration coefficient of strengthened raC as output,k-fold cross validation algorithm is utilized to validate the hybrid *** numerical benchmark analyses are applied to prove the superiority and applicability of the CFA algorithm in predicting chloride *** show that the developed CFA approach significantly outperforms the firefly algorithm on almost tested functions and demonstrates powerful *** addition,the proposed strategy can be an active tool to recognize the contradictions in the experimental results and can be especially beneficial for assessing the chloride resistance of raC.

The present study explores magnetic hybrid-nanoliquid(Al_(2)O_(3)-Cu/H_(2)O)natural convection in a heated incinerator shaped cavity by using the lattice Boltzmann method(LBM).Numerical results are presented in the form temperature contours,stream function and local entropy *** interaction between various physical phenomena characterizing this problem including the natural convection and the magnetic field has been *** of rayleigh number(ra=10^(3)-10^(6)),volumetric fraction of nanoparticles(ϕ=0-0.04),and Hartmann number(Ha=0-90)are clarified in details through graphical *** depict that the average Nusselt number(Nu_(m))and average entropy generation(S_(gen,A))increases with an increase of the rayleigh number while are decreased by applying a magnetic *** addition,it is found that the average Nusselt number(Nu_(m))increases with the rise of volumetric fraction of nanoparticles for all rayleigh and Hartmann ***,an opposite effect is obtained by an increase in volumetric fraction of nanoparticles on the average entropy generation(S_(gen,A)).Finally,the numerical results demonstrate that the effect of Lorentz force is reduced when the heat transfer regime conduction is considered.

Background: Clinical data suggested that pentraxin-3 is a biomarker for atherosclerosis due to its role in inflammatory processes since it exerts unfavorable effects on the course of atherosclerosis, stimulates plaque formation, and augments vascular inflammation. Objective: The aims of this study were to measure the level of serum pentraxin-3 in patients with suspected coronary artery disease (CAD) and to determine whether it was associated with the severity of CAD. Material and Methods: The serum pentraxin-3 level was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in 80 patients who were referred for elective coronary angiography due to positive stress test results. SYNTAX score was used to determine the severity of CAD. Results: The study cohort consisted of 45 (56.25%) males and 35 (43.75%) females with a mean age of 55 ± 9.8 years. The mean serum pentraxin-3 level was 3.79 ± 1.38 ng/ml, and the mean SYNTAX score was 15.8 ± 11.3. A significant correlation was observed between pentraxin-3 level and SYNTAX score (r = 0.459, p - 32 or ≤22 (p = 0.002). Conclusion: The serum level of inflammatory marker pentraxin-3 is increased in patients with CAD and is correlated with the severity of CAD.

The number and quality of sperm are decreased due to bisphenol A(BPA) exposure, an endocrine-disrupting chemical on the male reproductive system, especially in advanced paternal age(APA). Procyanidin C-1(PCY-1), an antioxidant from grape seed(Vitis vinifera L.), has demonstrated anti-viral, anti-melanogenic and immunostimulatory effects. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effects of PCY-1 intervention on sperm parameters, testis morphological changes, serum testosterone, oestradiol, and luteinizing hormone(LH) concentrations and the expression of apoptotic(Bax and Bcl-2) and mitochondria-related(Mfn1 and Opa1) genes in BPA-exposed aged mice. Results revealed that PCY-1 intervention improves aged male fertility in BPA-exposed conditions by decreasing abnormal sperms percentage and increasing spermatogenic cell diameter and epithelial height. PCY-1 also decreased oestradiol, and increased LH and testosterone levels. The gene expression of Bax was significantly down-regulated by PCY-1 intervention. In contrast, Bcl-2 was substantially up-regulated. Expression of Mfn1 and Opa1 genes were also significantly up-regulated in the PCY intervention group. Hence, it is demonstrated that PCY-1 was able to mitigate the adverse effects of BPA on reproductive parameters of aged mice. Collectively, we postulated that PCY-1 has a potential role in protecting the ageing male reproductive system against the damaging impacts of BPA.

Cerebral venous thrombosis has an unfavorable prognosis. It is a rather rare pathology concerning 3 to 5 cases per million inhabitants. The clinical symptomatology also varies according to the topography of the venous thrombosis and, in some cases, the CVT can have an unusual presentation. Progress and accessibility of non-invasive imaging currently allow early diagnosis of CVT. Brain MRI is the reference method for the diagnosis of CVT. We report a case of transverse sinus thrombosis in a 32-year-old male patient who consulted for headaches through which we want to study the etiological, clinical, paraclinical, therapeutic aspects as well as the evolutionary profile. The clinical history dates back to 2 weeks ago with frontal headaches radiating to the occipital region, throbbing of severe intensity, progressive onset and permanent evolution associated with right unilateral anterior purulent rhinorrhea. He had no nasal obstruction, epistaxis, hearing loss or other otological symptoms;no neurological deficit or notion of head trauma. Cerebral and maxillofacial computed tomography showed right maxillary sinusitis and right transverse sinus thrombosis. We carried out medical treatment based on antibiotics and analgesics without the use of anticoagulants. The evolution was favorable after four weeks of treatment. Conclusion: Transverse sinus thrombosis has a non-specific and heterogeneous clinical presentation. Headaches are the first sign. MRI and CT can help establish the diagnosis. The treatment is both etiological and symptomatic.
