The low recharge of reservoirs and the increasing demand for water limit the potential of mobilized resources, especially in arid to semi-arid areas like Morocco. Integrated management is essential to safeguard this resource. In respect with this perspective, this work provides the analysis of hydrogeological potential of Khemisset-Tiflet region, which falls within the action area of the Sebou Hydraulic Basin Agency. The basis of our studies was as follows:(1) The interpretation of the existing geoelectric data;(2) application of geophysical methods for non-destructive reconnaissance and their integration into a Geographic Information System(GIS). The analysis demonstrates that: The map of the isohypses and the geoelectric cross-section of the substratum of the superficial roof aquifer show clearly a plunge associated with development of the Paleozoic roof in the South and the direction of flow of the surface water is from south to north, from the upper zone to the north of the El Kansera dam. These conclusions constitute very useful contribution for any resource management projects in this area.

Midline synovial and ganglion cysts causing neurogenic claudication

Typically situated posterolateral in the spinal canal, intraspinal facet cysts often cause radicular symptoms. Rarely, the midline location of these synovial or ganglion cysts may cause thecal sac compression leading to neurogenic claudication or cauda equina syndrome. This article summarizes the clinical presentation, radiographic appearance, and management of three intraspinal, midline facet cysts. Three patients with symptomatic midline intraspinal facet cysts were retrospectively reviewed. Documented clinical visits, operative notes, histopathology reports, and imaging findings were investigated for each patient. One patient presented with neurogenic claudication while two patients developed partial, subacute cauda equina syndrome. All 3 patients initially responded favorably to lumbar decompression and midline cyst resection; however, one patient required surgical stabilization 8 mo later. Following the three case presentations, we performed a thorough literature search in order to identify articles describing intraspinal cystic lesions in lateral or midline locations. Midline intraspinal facet cysts represent an uncommon cause of lumbar stenosis and thecal sac compression. Such entities should enter the differential diagnosis of midline posterior cystic lesions. Midline cysts causing thecal sac compression respond favorably to lumbar surgical decompression and cyst resection. Though laminectomy is a commonly performed operation, stabilization may be required in cases of spondylolisthesis or instability.

Controlling Congestion in Al-Seeb Highway Using Ramp Metering (Case Study)

This paper represents a case study of traffic congestion within a section on Al Seeb Street highway due to the on-ramp merging of vehicles that causes a bottleneck in the mainline road. It studies the efficiency of installing ramp metering within a ramp within the selected study zone. This is done by simulating the collected data using Vissim software by drawing three one-hour-long scenarios;the first scenario reflects the data collected for 30 minutes duration and is used as a base scenario to draw the other two scenarios, which are reflected as factored-up scenarios to create a situation observed in the early morning in the study zone at 6:00-7:00 in which slowing down of speeds exist, and breakdown is raised in working days. The two factoring-up scenarios were as follows: one without ramp metering and the other without ramp metering. Each scenario was calibrated and run five times with random seeds, and then the average was considered. The simulation examines the ability of RM to smooth traffic in mainline and reduce queuing on on-ramp roads within the selected study zone by comparing the performance of the network for the scenarios and comparing them in terms of the overall delays, number of stops and the average speeds for the vehicles within the mainline. The results showed a good performance reflected by the scenario with ramp metering with a reduction of the overall delay, a decrease in stops number and an increase of the average speed were achieved. For the base scenario, a visualization (video extracted from Vissim software) was extracted, showing no need to install RM with an associated table showing a number of stops equal to zero with an average speed of 102.74 km/h and a total delay of 6045 seconds. Removal of Cadmium from Aqueous Solutions by Adsorption onto Activated Carbon Prepared from Date Stems

Activated carbon was prepared from date stems by one step H3PO4 activation and used as adsorbent for the removal of cadmium ions Cd2＋. This agricultural by-product is available in large amount in Algeria. Batch adsorption experiments were performed as a function of contact time, pH, adsorbent dose and initial cadmium concentration. It was found that the equilibrium was achieved less than 60 rain of contact time. The effect of pH on adsorption equilibrium was studied at values ranging from 1 to 6, demonstrating the importance of this parameter for an accurate evaluation of the adsorption process. Maximum adsorption was found for pH values ranging from 5 to 6.5. The models of adsorption isotherms, such as Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich, were tested for the quantitative description of the cadmium uptake. The results obtained revealed that the cadmium was considerably adsorbed on activated carbon prepared from date stems and it could be an economical method for the removal of cadmium from aqueous solutions.

Geomorphosite Valorization a View to Sustainable Development: Case of Ait Hajji, Oued Boulahmayel Valley, Central Morocco

The Pleistocene Fluvial-lacustrine of Ait Hajji Formation is located in South East of Tiddas, and in the Qua-ternary deposits of the Moroccan Central Plateau. These outcrops represent on a geomorphosite of great im-portance for the study of geological heritage, and for a natural eco-tourism valorization in Morocco. For to aim a natural tourism promotion, for indigenous peoples, this geomorphosite in question has an fluorescent and dense flora with a diversified fauna in the heart of one Ordovician quartzite bar and Devonian limestone ridges. In Oued Boulahmayel geomorphosite contains a memory geological Formation of a Pleistocene epi-sode, beginning firstly by a dynamic fluviatil land synchronous with a local volcanic activity (Phonolite ne-phelinc) replaced by a lake sedimentation related to the formation of a dam natural, created a few hundred meters downstream from Boulahmayel. For valorizing of the hinterland of the plains towns, it is necessary to develop a geo-eco-tourism integrated who provide its harvest and will argue the benefits resources of rural people of high-mountains in their own environment. It is proposed in the perspective to initiate a sustainable development approach, while ensuring the conservation and ensure the continued natural existence of the surroundings environments and to appreciate the potential of the region. Thus that beauty hidden in the hin-terland upstream to a tourist eager for discoveries, to encourage them to practice their stay as short as it is, in a safe space and very quiet. In order to materialize the concept of geo-eco-tourism, we must deploy the ef-forts of local people, policy makers and scientists in order to produce tourist maps with different interesting routes, to implant signal panels, to develop tracks campsites and trails within the forests, creating shelters and rest houses in private homes, as well as provide training for specialized guide’s rescuers.
