This study was conducted to investigate the properties of Pr3+-Dy3+doped Zn2Y-type hexaferrite for potential technological applications.X-ray diffraction（XRD）,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR） and field-emission scanning electron microscopy（FESEM） were used to analyze structural *** crystallite size in the synthesized samples varies between 57.54 and 68.57 *** vibrational bands at 400 and 600 cm-1,common to all hexaferrites,were confirmed through *** FESEM analysis reveals an agglomeration of magnetic grains and a decrease in the average grain size from 1.24 to1.06 μ*** M-H loops show that,with x values of 0.0,0.1,and 0.2,the saturation magnetization is determined to be 34.76,34.23,and 32.52 emu/g,*** corresponding coercivity values are21.24,30.39,and 33.99 ***-visible spectroscopy using Tauc theory reveals an increase in the optical band gap from 2.32 to 2.50 eV,indicating a tunable energy band structure by incorporating Pr3+-Dy3+*** dielectric constant increases,whereas AC conductivity decreases with increased Pr3+-Dy3+*** obtained results suggest the potential suitability of these materials for various technological applications.

Background: The tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) and pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) is an indirect estimate of right ventricular-pulmonary arterial (RV-PA) coupling that has been shown to correlate with invasive measures. We aimed to assess the ability of the tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion/pulmonary systolic pressure ratio (TAPSE/PASP) as a measure for RV-PA coupling to predict the development of RV dysfunction after cardiac surgery. Methods: This prospective study was conducted on 100 patients with ischemic heart disease and undergoing cardiac surgery (coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)) with normal preoperative right ventricular function, classified according to RV function outcomes into 2 groups: Normal RV group (65 patients) and RV dysfunction group (35 patients). All cases underwent per and postoperative transthoracic echocardiography. Results: By using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, pre-operative TAPSE/PASP ratio could significantly predict the RV dysfunction (P 0.58, with AUC of 94%, 88.6% sensitivity, and 89.2% specificity. Post-operative TAPSE/PASP Ratio could significantly predict the RV dysfunction (P 0.39, with AUC of 84%, 100% sensitivity, and 76.9% specificity. Pre-operative TAPSE/PASP ratio could significantly predict mortality (P Conclusion: The TAPSE/PASP ratio is an excellent tool for CABG patients for its ability to detect and predict the development of RV dysfunction after cardiac surgery, along with the prediction of mortality in post-operative CABG patients.

3D crustal density modeling of Egypt using GOCE satellite gravity data and seismic integration

A 3D crustal model was constructed using a combination of cutting-edge techniques, which were integrated to provide a density model for Egypt and address the sporadic distribution of seismic data. These techniques include obtaining gravity data from the Gravity Field and Steady-State Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE), creating seismic profiles, analyzing the receiver functions of seismic data, obtaining information from boreholes, and providing geological interpretations. GOCE satellite gravity data were processed to construct a preliminary model based on nonlinear inversions of the data. A regional crustal thickness model was developed using receiver functions, seismic refraction profiles, and geological insights. The inverted model was validated using borehole data and compared with seismic estimates. The model exhibited strong consistency and revealed a correlation between crustal thickness, geology, and tectonics of Egypt. It showed that the shallowest depths of the Moho are located in the north along the Mediterranean Sea and in the eastern part along the Red Sea, reflecting an oceanic plate with a thin, high-density crust. The deepest Moho depths are located in the southwestern part of Egypt, Red Sea coastal mountains, and Sinai Peninsula. The obtained 3D model of crustal thickness provided finely detailed Moho depth estimates that aligned closely with geology and tectonic characteristics of Egypt, contributing valuable insights into the subsurface structure and tectonic processes of region.

Transient elastography compared to liver biopsy and morphometry for predicting fibrosis in pediatric chronic liver disease: Does etiology matter?

AIM: To evaluate transient elastography (TE) as a noninvasive tool in staging liver fibrosis compared with liver biopsy and morphometry in children with different chronic liver ***: A total of 90 children [50 with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV), 20 with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) and 20 with Wilson disease] were included in the study and underwent liver stiffness measurement (LSM) using TE. Liver biopsies were evaluated for fibrosis, qualitatively, by Ishak score and quantitatively by fibrosis area fraction (FAF) using digital image analysis (morphometry). LSM was correlated with fibrosis and other studied variables using spearman correlation. A stepwise multiple regression analysis was also performed to examine independent factors associated with LSM. Different cut-off values of LSM were calculated for predicting individual fibrosis stages using receiver-operating characteristic curve. Cut-off values with optimal clinical performance (optimal sensitivity and specificity simultaneously) were ***: The majority of HCV group had minimal activity (80%) and no/mild fibrosis (72%). On the other hand, the majority of AIH group had mild to moderate activity (70%) and moderate to severe fibrosis (95%) and all Wilson disease group had mild to moderate activity (100%) and moderate to severe fibrosis (100%). LSM correlated significantly with both FAF and Ishak scores and the correlation appeared better with the latter (r = 0.839 vs 0.879, P < 0.0001 for both). LSM discriminated individual stages of fibrosis with high performance. Sensitivity ranged from 81.4% to 100% and specificity ranged from 75.0% to 97.2%. When we compared LSM values for the same stage of fibrosis, they varied according to the different etiologies. Higher values were in AIH (16.15 ± 7.23 kPa) compared to Wilson disease (8.30 ± 0.84 kPa) and HCV groups (7.43 ± 1.73 kPa). Effects of Nickel Distribution on the Strengthening and Toughening of Alumina Ceramics

Three types of composite materials were designed and fabricated by hot pressing powder blends of alumina with 20 vol. pct nickel particles. The composites differ in the shape, size and distribution of the nickel particles. Composite microstructures are described and measurements of density, hardness, flexure strength, and fracture toughness are reported. The results showed that the fracture strength of the composite with dispersed nickel particles is higher than the other two composites （network microstructure and mixed microstructure） and the alumina matrix. For all the composites studied, tougher materials than the monolithic alumina were produced. The fracture toughness of the composite with a network microstructure is much higher than that of the other composites. The toughening mechanisms were described based on the observation of the fracture surfaces and the crack-particle interactions. Moreover, the parameters for microstructural tailoring of these materials have been deduced. The toughening of the produced composites was explained in light of the interracial bond strength.

Processing of Ceramic Based Nanocomposite Usingα-Al_2O_3 Powder and FeCl_2 Solution as Starting Materials

Alumina-iron nanocomposite powders were prepared by a two-step process. In the first step, α-Al2O3-FeCl2 powder mixture was formed by mixing α-Al2O3 powders with FeCl2 solution followed by drying. In the second step, the FeCl2 in the dry power mixture was selectively reduced to iron particles. A reduction temperature of 750℃ for 15 min in dry H2 was chosen based on the thermodynamic calculations. The concentration of iron in FeCl2 solution was calculated to be 20 vol. pct in the final composite. Two techniques were used to produce composite bulk materials. The Al2O3 nanocomposite powders were divided to two batches. The first batch of the produced mixture was hot pressed at 1400℃ and 27 MPa for 30 min in a graphite die. To study the effect of oxygen on the Al2O3/Fe interface bonding and mechanical properties of the composite, the second batch was heat treated in air at 700℃ for 20 min to partially oxidize the iron particles before hot pressing. Characterization of the composites was undertaken by conventional density measurements, X-ray diffractometry （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and electron probe micro analysis （EPMA）. The suggested processing route （mixing, reduction and hot pressing） produces ceramic-metal nanocomposite much tougher than the pure Al2O3. The fracture strength of the produced Al2O3/Fe nanocomposite is nearly twice that of the pure Al2O3. The presence of spinel phase, FeAl204, as thick layer around the Fe particles in the Al2O3 matrix has a detrimental effect on interfacial bonding between Fe and AI203 and the fracture properties of the composite.

Serum ferritin in neonatal cholestasis: A specific and active molecule or a non-specific bystander marker?

Background: Serum ferritin(SF) and consequently hepatic iron have long been considered important in liver fibrosis progression. They have been studied in different liver diseases with no previous reports in neonatal cholestasis(NC). This study aimed to measure SF in different etiologies of NC and investigate its relation to hepatic iron and fibrosis. Methods: SF was measured in 75 infants, including 50 with NC and 25 with sepsis. SF was compared between these two groups. Biochemical parameters, hepatic iron grades, and liver fibrosis and other histopathological characteristics and correlated with SF were assessed in NC group. Finally, a comparison between intrahepatic cholestasis and obstructive etiology was performed. Results: SF was elevated in NC(1598 ± 2405 ng/mL) with no significant difference from those with sepsis( P = 0.445). NC and sepsis constituted augmenting factors leading to more elevation of SF(2589 ± 3511 ng/mL). SF was significantly correlated with hepatic iron grades( r = 0.536, P ell transformation( P = 0.009) and hepatocyte swelling( P = 0.023) than those with obstructive etiology(672 ± 566 ng/mL) and their prevalent pathological findings of ductular proliferation( P = 0.003) and bile plugs( P = 0.002). SF was unrelated to the grade of liver fibrosis( P = 0.058). Conclusions: SF is non-specifically elevated in NC, with positive correlation to hepatic iron grades. SF ≥ 803.5 ng/mL can predict higher grades( ≥ grade 3) of hepatic iron. However, an active role of increased SF and hepatic iron in disease progression remains questionable.

Objective:To evaluate the combination therapy of pyronaridine tetraphosphate and diminazene aceturate against Babesia in vitro and in ***:Bioinformatic analysis was performed using atom pair *** in vitro combination test was performed against Babesia bovis and Theileria ***,the in vivo chemotherapeutic efficacy of pyronaridine tetraphosphate in combination with diminazene aceturate was investigated against the growth of Babesia microti in mice using a fluorescence inhibitory ***:Pyronaridine tetraphosphate and diminazene aceturate exhibited nearly similar molecular *** in vitro combination of pyronaridine tetraphosphate and diminazene aceturate was synergistic on Babesia bovis and additive on Theileria *** addition,5 mg/kg pyronaridine tetraphosphate combined with 10 mg/kg diminazene aceturate inhibited Babesia microti growth significantly compared with those observed after treatment with 25 mg/kg diminazene aceturate alone from day 6 post treatment to day 12 post *** combination therapy also normalized the hematological parameters of infected ***:An oral dose of pyronaridine tetraphosphate combined with a subcutaneous dose of diminazene aceturate inhibits Babesia in vitro and in mice,suggesting it might be a new paradigm for the treatment of babesiosis.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of hot extruded 6016 aluminum alloy/graphite composites

The incorporation of graphite particles into AA6016 aluminum alloy matrix to fabricate metal/ceramic composites is still a great challenge and various parameters should be considered. In this study, dense AA6016 aluminum alloy/（0-20 wt%） graphite composites have successfully been fabricated by powder metallurgy process. At first, the mixed aluminum and graphite powders were cold compacted at 200 MPa and then sintered at 500 ℃ for 1 h followed by hot extrusion at 450 ℃. The influence of ceramic phases（free graphite and in-situ formed carbides） on microstructure, physical and mechanical properties of the produced composites were finally investigated. The results show that the fabricated composites have a relative density of over 98%. SEM observations indicate that the graphite has a good dispersion in the alloy matrix even at high graphite content. Hardness of all the produced composites was higher than that of aluminum alloy matrix. No cracks were observed at strain less than 23% for all hot extruded *** strength, reduction in height, ultimate tensile stress, fracture stress, yield stress, and fracture strain of all Al/graphite composites were determined by high precision second order equations. Both compressive and ultimate tensile strengths have been correlated to microstructure constituents with focusing on the in-situ formed ceramic phases, silicon carbide（SiC） and aluminum carbide（Al4 C3）. The ductile fracture mode of the produced composites became less dominant with increasing free graphite content and in-situ formed carbides. Wear resistance of Al/graphite composites was increased with increasing graphite content. Aluminum/20 wt% graphite composite exhibited superior wear resistance over that of AA6016 aluminum alloy.
