Mineral salts are of great importance on the regulation of different metabolic activities of living organisms. The well-functioning of the body depends on mineral salts. These salts, existing naturally in small quantity in our diverse diets （grains, legumes, fruit, tea, egg, etc.）, are concentrated in seawater. In this paper, the indirect fi＇eezing is used as a concentration process to recover the most of salt minerals naturally present in seawater. Freezing is known as a purification process, but this paper recovers the brine instead of the formed ice. A 3.5% salinity solution with an appropriate setup is used to recover the maximum of salt in the brine. The work aims to develop a process for freezing salt concentration on cold walls. The influence of operating parameters has highlighted the important role of the cooling ramp and stay time on the salt concentration produced.

The solidification of a binary mixture causes allowed thermosolutal convection. Under certain conditions, the separation of its components gives rise to a preferential movement of migration of solutes. The quantity and the concentration of the obtained products depend on the mechanisms of sepa＇,ration which depend on different parameters and the applied boundary conditions. In this way, the freezing of H20-NaC1 mixture makes it possible to obtain a liquid phase which is charged in solute and is called brine and a solid phase which is composed of ice being able to become fresh water, and so it can works as a desalination process. In this paper, a series of experiments of seawater freezing on cold surface is carried out at the laboratory under different operating conditions. During these experiments, the role of each parameter （temperature of crystallization, duration of crystallizat on...） which is able to impact the final composition is focused on. After a preliminary series of experiment, the yield is： improved to reach rates of salt and make it possible to regard the water produced as drinkable according to the standards of WHO （World Health Organization）.

Watershed rangelands in Northern Afghanistan provide various ecosystem services that support the local people's livelihoods,but they are now highly degraded essentially due to the continuous high grazing pressure and recurrent *** of shrub establishment method enhanced by water harvesting techniques to rehabilitate degraded rangelands have not been well *** main goal of this study was to evaluate the impact of direct seeding and transplanting of seedlings in combination with semi-circular bunds on growth,yield,and survival rate of four shrub species(Atriplex halimus,Atriplex nummularia,Atriplex lentiformis,andMaireana brevifolia)under semi-arid conditions of Sayyad village,Khulm *** rate(%),plant height,width,and plant length(cm)and plant cover(%)were measured for each plant over five occasions.A non-destructive reference unit was used to estimate biomass *** results showed that growth attributes and biomass production of shrubs were consistently greater in the transplanting compared to direct *** average,the plant length,width,height,volume,cover,and biomass production of transplanted shrubs were greater than direct-seeded shrubs by 24.3%,8.6%,8.7%,121.5%,13.8% and 34.1%,*** production of transplanted seedlings was the highest for ***(1313.5 g DM/plant)and ***(800 g DM/plant).There was a strong correlation between plant biomass production and plant volume(R^(2)_(Plant volume)=0.88)for the shrub ***,indicating that plant volume is a key variable for assessing biomass production for this ***,the survival rate of *** was 100% in both planting methods,suggesting that based on better survival this halophytic plant has great potential when restoring degraded ***,on the basis of better growth rates,yield,and survival,transplanting *** *** may enhance shrub establishment and contribute to the rehabilitation of slop

Advanced cholangiocarcinoma is associated with poor prognostic survival and has limited therapeutic options available at present. The importance of angiogenesis and expression of pro-angiogenic factors in intrahepatic forms of cholangiocarcinoma suggest that therapies targeting angiogenesis might be useful for the treatment of this disease. Here we report three cases of patients with advanced intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma progressive after standard chemotherapy and treated with sunitinib 50 mg/d in 6-wk cycles of 4 wk on treatment followed by 2 wk off treatment(Schedule 4/2). In all three patients, sunitinib treatment was associated with a sustained disease control superior to 4 mo, patients achieving either a partial response or stable disease. A reduction in tumor size and density was observed in all cases, suggesting tumor necrosis as a result of sunitinib treatment in these patients. In addition, sunitinib was generally well tolerated and the occurrence of side effects was managed with standard medical interventions, as required. Our results suggest that sunitinib therapy maybe associated with favorable outcomes and tolerability in patients with advanced cholangiocarcinoma. Those observations contributed to launch a prospective phase Ⅱ multicenter trial investigating sunitinib in advanced intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(SUN-CK study; NCT01718327).

Severe Wolfram Syndrome Caused by a Novel Frameshift Mutation in <i>WFS1</i>Gene: Effect on the WFS1/CaM Interaction and Phenotype-Genotype Correlation

Mutations in the WFS1 gene have been reported in Wolfram syndrome (WFS), a rare and autosomal recessive disorder defined by early onset of diabetes mellitus and progressive optic and hearing impairment. Only few data are available concerning the association between clinical and molecular aspects of the WFS. We present a consanguineous family with a patient presenting an early onset of WFS and severe manifestations. Sequencing of WFS1 gene was performed for all the family members to search for responsible mutation and bioinformatics tools were conducted to predict its effect on structure and function of the protein. We have detected a novel frameshift mutation in the proband at homozygous state and at the heterozygous state in the parents who have no WFS manifestations. In silico analysis predicted the pathogenicity of the mutation and could lead to a complete loss of its function. Thus, 3D modeling showed that the mutation abolishes the interaction of the CaM binding region to the N-terminal of WFS1 and then impairs the WFS1-CaM complex formation. Genotype-phenotype correlation study shows that the novel mutation predisposes to early onset of diabetes and severe symptoms observed in the proband. We also report the effect of the frameshift mutation on the CaM-WFS1 impaired binding, and we discuss its possible consequence in pancreatic β-cells dysfunction and its role in the early onset of diabetes. We study the mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 Blume-Capel model under crystal field in the tridimensional semi-infinite case. This has been done by using the real-space renormalization group approximation and specifically the Migdal-Kadanoff technique. As a function of the ratio R of bulk and surface interactions and the ratios R1 and R2 of bulk and surface crystals fields on the spin-1 and spin-3/2 respectively, we have determined various types of phase diagrams. Besides second- order transition lines, first-order phase transition lines terminating at tricritical points are obtained. We found that there existed nine main types of phase diagram showing a variety of phase transitions associated with the surface, including ordinary, extraordinary, surface and special phase transitions.

In this study, we thoroughly examined the impact of heat treatments and hole count (p) on the properties of LnSrBaCu3O6+z (Ln = Eu, Sm, Nd) compounds. We focused on preparation, X-ray diffraction with Rietveld refinement, AC susceptibility, DC resistivity measurements, and heat treatment effects. Two heat treatment types were applied: oxygen annealing [O] and argon annealing followed by oxygen annealing [AO]. As the rare earth Ln’s ionic radius increased, certain parameters notably changed. Specifically, c parameter, surface area S, and volume V increased, while critical temperature Tc and holes (p) in the CuO2 plane decreased. The evolution of these parameters with rare earth Ln’s ionic radius in [AO] heat treatment is linear. Regardless of the treatment, the structure is orthorhombic for Ln = Eu, tetragonal for Ln = Nd, orthorhombic for Ln = Sm [AO], and pseudo-tetragonal for Sm [O]. The highest critical temperature is reached with Ln = Eu (Tc [AO] = 87.1 K). Notably, for each sample, Tc [AO] surpasses Tc [O]. Observed data stems from factors including rare earth ionic size, improved cationic and oxygen chain order, holes count p in Cu(2)O2 planes, and in-phase purity of [AO] samples. Our research strives to clearly demonstrate that the density of holes (p) within the copper plane stands as a determinant impacting the structural, electrical, and superconducting properties of these samples. Meanwhile, the other aforementioned parameters contribute to shaping this density (p).
