Evaluation of Antioxidants, Total Phenolics and Antimicrobial Activities of Ethyl Acetate Extracts From Fungi Grown on Rice Straw

Rice straw(RS)collected from Egyptian agricultural environment(Al-Masied village-Alsharqia Governorate-Egypt)was used as substrate for three fungal isolates namely:4b,1Asp,Pleurotus ostreatus NRRL 3501 and mixed culture of(4b,1Asp).Isolates number 4b and 1Asp were identified using the molecular technique(18S rRNA).Isolate 4b and 1Asp,were identified as Trichoderma saturnisporum MN1-EGY and Aspergillus niger MN2-EGY,*** saturnisporum MN1-EGY extract exhibited the highest antimicrobial activity compared to the other fungal *** phenolic,antimicrobial and antioxidant activities were also determined from the ethyl acetate extract of rice straw inoculated by these *** antioxidant scavenging concentration(SC50)values of the tested samples were 88.84,91.45,94.65 and 100.0μg/ml,respectively for Pleurotus sp.,Aspergiluus niger,Aspergiluus niger+Trichoderma sp.,and Trichoderma sp.,after 15 days incubation,compared to ascorbic acid as positive control with SC50 value equal to 8.0μg/*** phenolic contents(TPCs)were maximum in Pleurotus *** and found to be the most polyphenolic enriched sample(380.64 mg GAE/g dry extract)compared to extracts of Aspergiluusniger,Aspergiluus niger+Trichoderma sp.,and Trichoderma sp.(261.89,198.52,and 119.80 mg GAE/g dry extract),*** GC-MS analysis has been also performed for the promising extracts.

Background:Syrian juniper is an economically important species and in danger of *** these reasons,the best seedling production methods of the species should be determined and its plantations should be *** aim of the study is to examine the impacts of altitude and different pretreatment combinations of cold and warm stratifications,citric acid,shaking seeds in bottles with crushed glass,and different stimulating agents including Baikal EM1,Biohumus,Polystimulin A6 and K hormones(PS-A6 and PS-K)on seed germination of Syrian *** conduct the study,the cones of the Syrian junipers were collected from three different altitudes(1000,1200,and 1400 m a.s.l.)within the boundaries of Forest Management Directorate of Bozyazı,Mersin in *** seeds were subjected to three replicates per one treatment(altitude in interaction with pretreatment).There were 100 seeds per ***:Two-way ANOVA revealed significant effects of altitude,pretreatment,and their interaction on seedling emergence of Syrian *** from higher altitudes had higher germination rates in all *** highest percent emergence(85%)was recorded in the combination consisting of shaking with crushed glass,both cold and warm stratification,and successive application of stimulators PS-A6 and *** the treatments with most germinating seeds encompassed shaking in crushed glass or soaking in citric acid,both warm and cold stratifications,and application of stimulating ***:The use of seeds from higher altitudes should be considered for seedling production of Syrian juniper due to their higher germination *** altitudinal differences,specific pretreatments can rise germination potential more than twofold.

Investigation of Neutrino-Nucleon Interaction through Intermediate Vector Boson (IVB)

This work deals with the interaction of neutrino with the nucleon considering data taken from different experiments. It is assumed that the interaction of neutrino with nucleons go through the intermediate vector boson (IVB) which may be the W or Z with effective mass of the order of 80 GeV. The neutrino wave function is obtained via perturbation technique to calculate the weak leptonic current. On the other hand, the quark current is estimated using the measured experimental data of deep inelastic scattering of neutrino-nucleon interaction. Eventually the total interaction transition matrix is calculated as a function of momentum transfer square, q2 and qualitatively compared with the available experimental data. Besides, a comparative study is also done to explore the influence of the target composition during the neutrino weak interactions. In this context an investigation of neutrino-proton and neutrino-neutron interactions are carried out to calculate the deep inelastic cross section in both cases.

A Comparative Study of Nonlinear Time-Varying Process Modeling Techniques: Application to Chemical Reactor

This paper proposes the design and a comparative study of two nonlinear systems modeling techniques. These two approaches are developed to address a class of nonlinear systems with time-varying parameter. The first is a Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural networks and the second is a Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP). The MLP model consists of an input layer, an output layer and usually one or more hidden layers. However, training MLP network based on back propagation learning is computationally expensive. In this paper, an RBF network is called. The parameters of the RBF model are optimized by two methods: the Gradient Descent (GD) method and Genetic Algorithms (GA). However, the MLP model is optimized by the Gradient Descent method. The performance of both models are evaluated first by using a numerical simulation and second by handling a chemical process known as the Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor CSTR. It has been shown that in both validation operations the results were successful. The optimized RBF model by Genetic Algorithms gave the best results.

Neural Modeling of Multivariable Nonlinear Stochastic System. Variable Learning Rate Case

The objective of this paper is to develop a variable learning rate for neural modeling of multivariable nonlinear stochastic system. The corresponding parameter is obtained by gradient descent method optimization. The effectiveness of the suggested algorithm applied to the identification of behavior of two nonlinear stochastic systems is demonstrated by simulation experiments.

Two Unified Algorithms for Fundamental Planetary Ephemeris

In the present paper, we established two unified algorithms. The first algorithm is for the transformations between J2000.0 Keplerian orbital elements and B1950.0 elements, while the second is for the transformations between the equatorial orbital elements and the ecliptic orbital elements. Mathematica Modules of the algorithms are given together with some numerical applications.

The study was sought to enhance the synthesis of thermal stableβ-cyclodextrin glycosyltransferase(β-CGTase)using potato wastewater as a low-cost medium and assess the degree to which it is efficient for industrial production ofβ-cyclodextrin(β-CD)from raw potato *** bacteria producingβ-CGTase was isolated from Saudi Arabia and the promising strain was identified as Bacillus licheniformis using phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA ***-encapsulated cultures exhibited twice-fold ofβ-CGTase production more than free *** electron microscopy(SEM)of polymeric capsules indicated the potential for a longer shelf-life,which promotes the restoration of activity in bacterial cells across semi-continuous fermentation ofβ-CGTase production for 252 *** optimal conditions forβ-CGTase synthesis using potato wastewater medium were at 36 h,pH of 8.0,and 50°C with 0.4%potato starch and 0.6%yeast extract as carbon and nitrogen sources,*** purified enzyme showed a specific activity of 63.90 U/mg with a molecular weight of∼84.6 kDa as determined by SDS-PAGE *** high enzyme activity was observed up to 60°C,and complete stability was achieved at 75°*** levels of activity and stability were shown at pH 8.0,and the pH range from 7.0–10.0,*** enzyme has an appreciable affinity for raw potato starch with a Km of 5.7×10−6 M and a Vmax of 87.71μmoL/mL/min.β-CD production was effective against 25 U/g of raw potato *** outcomes demonstrated its feasibility to develop a fermentation process by integrating the cost-effective production ofβ-CGTase having distinctive properties forβ-CD production with ecofriendly utilization of potato wastewater.

Prediction of Soil Fractions (Sand, Silt and Clay) in Surface Layer Based on Natural Radionuclides Concentration in the Soil Using Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System

In this research, a gamma ray sensor (The Mole) was used to get the natural radionuclides concentration in situ in the surface layer of cultivated soils. For sand, silt and clay predictions, an adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) was performed to predict such fractions (Sugeno model). The inputs to the system were Potassium (40K), Uranium (238U), Thorium (232Th) and Cesium (137Cs) concentrations. It is concluded that ANFIS structure is acceptable in the prediction of sand, silt and clay considering the studied inputs. Test results and predicted outcomes were compared and acceptable correlations were obtained.

Microsurgical Management of Vestibular Schwannomas with Brainstem Compression: Surgical Challenges and Outcome

Background: Vestibular schwannomas exerting brainstem compression with or without hydrocephalus are challenging for neurosurgeons regarding the plan of surgery, operative risk and postoperative sequale. Purpose: To report our experience with the surgical challenges and outcomes for Hannover type T4a & T4b vestibular schwannomas. Methods: Retrospective case study conducted at neurosurgery department, Mansoura University between October 2016 and May 2019 of 16 patients with vestibular schwannoma compressing the brainstem. We reviewed their clinical, radiological, surgical data, incidence of complications and outcome. Results: We had 16 patients: 10 of Hanover grade T4b and 6 of grade T4a. Gross total resection was achieved in 2 cases while subtotal resection was achieved in 5 cases and in the remaining 9 cases;only partial resection was feasible. We had 4 cases of mortality. Among new onset morbidity after surgery, 3 cases had post-operative bulbar manifestation and 4 cases had brainstem dysfunction. Conclusion: Vestibular schwannomas compressing the brain stem are challenging in their clinical presentation, surgery and post-operative outcome. The outcome of patients treated with hydrocephalus prior to vestibular schwannoma surgery is better than those who did initial VS surgery. Patients presented with significant brainstem, bulbar manifestation had worse outcome and needed longer ICU stay and longer time for recovery.

Outcomes of Endovascular Treatment of Intracranial Aneurysms at Bifurcation Sites

Background and Purpose: Endovascular coiling is widely used for treatment of both ruptured and unruptured aneurysms. Intracranial bifurcation aneurysms were classically considered unsuitable for endovascular treatment because of the risk of coil protrusion into the parent vessel. The introduction stent assisted coiling has allowed the bifurcation aneurysms to be endovascularly treated. The present study aims to evaluate the efficacy of the endovascular treatment of the intracranial bifurcation aneurysms. Methods: This study was conducted on 76 patients with radiologically documented intracranial aneurysms at bifurcation sites either ruptured (12 aneurysms) or unruptured (64 aneurysms). Endovascular coiling of intracranial aneurysms was done for all patients in our study aided in some with single or Y-configuration stenting. The radiological outcome was assessed immediately postoperative, and at follow-up at 6 and 12 month with grading of the angiograms on the basis of modified 3-point Raymond scale. Results: In terms of the Raymond grading (RG), the initial angiographic outcome was complete occlusion (RG1) in 45 aneurysms (59.2%), neck remnant (RG2) in 20 aneurysms (26.3%), and body filling (RG3) in 11 aneurysms (14.5%), while the final angiographic outcome at 1 year was RG1 in 55 aneurysms (72.4%), RG2 in 13 aneurysms (17.1%), and RG3 in 8 aneurysms (10.5%). Eleven aneurysms (14.5%) showed recanalization. The aneurysm size and the neck width were the statistically significant factors affecting the initial RG (P = 0.0005, 0.001 respectively), final RG (P = 0.015, 0.012 respectively), and the recanalization rate (P = 0.012, 0.01 respectively). Conclusions: Endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms at bifurcation sites is safe and effective. Stent assisted coiling (SAC) has enabled us to offer a safe and effective endovascular treatment for bifurcation aneurysms by preventing coils herniation.
