This study aims to describe distribution and speciation of Hg in coastal water,fish and sediments from the Western harbour(main harbour)in Egypt and has been studied in two *** slightly high annual mean of total dissolved mercury TDHg value(1.81 mg/l)in the surface layer might reflect the highest average surface value(6.09 mg/l),selected at the outer part,due to the entering the water loaded by industrial pollutants from El Mex Bay to the harbour *** addition to the internal activities as petroleum Quay(petroleum basin)and in front of Noubaria Canal outfall(5.13 and 5.32 mg/l respectively).On the other hand,the increased levels of mercury in suspension(particulate form)during the study period may be due to the effects of heavy winter rain over the highly industrialized area,also the surface input of mercury and its regeneration at the sediment/water interface in the *** the present study,the total and methyl mercury in the studied fish was exceeded the regulatory limit of the European Union for mercury concentration in *** contamination of *** species was higher than that of the other studied species due to its habitat,represented by small schools in very shallow water close to the bottom sediments,and its different approach in *** present study of surface sediments reveals that,there were probably an uncomplexed strong Hg-binding site available in the sediments,the major portion of mercury found in these sediments is in organo-chelated form followed by acid reducible ***,mercury in residual fraction(mercury of natural origin)is the relatively low portion *** though the percentage of the first three fractions of mercury is relatively high,absolute values of these mobile Hg fractions are quite high due to the high total mercury values.

A novel type of composite vascular graft was developed via electrospinning in the present *** and chitosan were blended to form the inner and outer ***(l-lactide-co-caprolactone)(P(llA-Cl))was selected as a material for the middle layer of composite vascular *** morphology and diameter of the composite grafts were studied by Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM).The results of mechanical tests showed that the composite scaffolds provided the whole grafts with better strength and flexibility compared with blended grafts,mainly due to the fact that the middle layer was P(llA-Cl).Cell viability studies with endothelial cells suggested a prompt adhesion and proliferation duo to the fact that the outer layer was collagen and *** microscopy demonstrated that a monolayer of endothelial cells could be formed after 7 days of *** above results indicated that the composite fibrous scaffolds could be a good candidate for blood vessel repair by electrospinning method.

Objective: To compare the differences in intake and excretion between Musca domestica and other three species from families Muscidae and Calliphoridae which may help explaining the significance of house fly in the transmission of ***: The four adult species were supplied with two concentrations of sucrose via modified capillary feeder assay system. The two sucrose concentrations were applied to one adult male/each experiment and the elimination spots were counted. Using 0.25 mol/l sucrose + 0.25% bromophenol blue, one active non-starved male/cup was observed carefully for 1 h to record its behavior. As a growing medium used in bacterial transmission experiments, undiluted trypticase soy broth was used to feed 3-day-old females and males of Musca domestica following two different diets upon emergence and the frequency of elimination spots was ***: The two Musca species have half the weight of the two Phormia *** the volume of intake per hour, house fly took as much as the other species, all of which were larger. House fly produced twice, or more, the number of elimination spots/h than the other three species. Feeding the flies a sugar liquid diet resulted in producing more fecal spots than regurgitation spots. The male house flies produced less elimination spots/h when fed with trypticase soy broth than with the two sucrose ***: House flies eliminated more than the other examined fly species and most of these elimination events were defecation which implicates the fecal route for pathogen transmission by this important vector.

Transpressional deformation has played an important role in the late Neoproterozoic evolution of the ArabianNubian Shield including the Central Eastern Desert of *** Ghadir Shear Belt is a 35 km-long,NW-oriented brittleductile shear zone that underwent overall sinistral transpression during the late *** this shear belt,strain is highly partitioned into shortening,oblique,extensional and strike-slip structures at multiple ***,strain partitioning is heterogeneous along-strike giving rise to three distinct structural *** the East Ghadir and Ambaut shear belts,the strain is pure-shear dominated whereas the narrow sectors parallel to the shear walls in the West Ghadir Shear Zone are simple-shear *** domains are comparable to splay-dominated and thrust-dominated strike-slip shear *** kinematic transition along the Ghadir shear belt is consistent with separate strike-slip and thrustsense shear *** earlier fabric(S1),is locally recognized in low strain areas and SW-ward thrusts.S2 is associated with a shallowly plunging stretching lineation(l2),and defines^NW-SE major upright macroscopic folds in the East Ghadir shear belt.F2 folds are superimposed by^NNW–SSE tight-minor and major F3 folds that are kinematically compatible with sinistral transpressional deformation along the West Ghadir Shear Zone and may represent strain partitioning during deformation.F2 and F3 folds are superimposed by ENE–WSW gentle F4 folds in the Ambaut shear *** sub-parallelism of F3 and F4 fold axes with the shear zones may have resulted from strain partitioning associated with simple shear deformation along narrow mylonite zones and pure shear-dominant deformation in fold *** ENEstriking shear zones were subsequently active at ca.595 Ma,coeval with sinistral shearing along NW-to NNW-striking shear *** occurrence of upright folds and folds with vertical axes suggests that transpression plays a significant role in

The necessity to understand the relationship between cyanobacterial species abundance and water quality variations in coastal lagoons is crucial to develop strategies to prevent further cyanobacterial *** paper evaluates the relationship between water quality variations on the distribution of cyanobacteria during a 12-month period in Batticaloa lagoon（Sri lanka） using Redundancy analysis and Pearson *** variations in p H,temperature,salinity,dissolved oxygen（DO） and total phosphorus（TP）levels were reported,but not turbidity and NO3-.This brackish waterbody is hypereutrophic（TP levels 〉 0.1 mg/l）.The cyanobacterial community contained 13 genera and 22 ***3-,TP and turbidity levels positively influenced cyanobacterial abundance during all seasons indicating that nutrient（largely phosphorus） and sediment entry control is highly crucial along with periodic monitoring of cyanobacterial growth.

We give an existence result of entropy and renormalized solutions for strongly nonlinear elliptic equations in the framework of Sobolev spaces with variable exponents of the type： -div （a（x, u,▽u）＋φ（u））＋g（x, u,▽u）=μ, where the right-hand side belongs to l^1（Ω）＋W^-1,p＇（x）（Ω）, -div（a（x, u,▽u）） is a leray-lions operator defined from W^-1,p＇（x）（Ω） into its dual and φ∈C^0（R,R^N）. The function g（x, u,▽u） is a non linear lower order term with natural growth with respect to ｜▽u｜ satisfying the sign condition, that is, g（x, u,▽u）u ≥ 0.

Adsorption capacity of activated carbon prepared from spent tea leaves （STl-AC） for the removal of aspirin from aqueous solution was investigated in this study. Preliminary studies have shown that treatment with phosphoric acid （H3PO4） increased removal efficiency of STl-AC. Characterizations on STl-AC revealed excellent textural properties （1200 m2.g-1, 51% mesoporosity）, as well as distinctive surface chemistry （1.08 mmol.g-1 and 0.54 mmol.g-1 for acidic and basic oxygenated groups, pHpzc = 2.02）. Maximum removal efficiency of aspirin observed was 94.28% after 60 rain when the initial concentration was 100 mg.l-1, 0.5 g of adsorbent used, pH 3 and at a temperature of 30 ℃. The adsorption data were well fitted to the Freundlich isotherm model and obeyed the pseudo-second order kinetics model. The adsorption of aspirin onto STl-AC was exothermic in nature （△H = - 13.808 ***-1） and had a negative entropy change, △S （-41.444 ***-1）. A negative Gibbs free energy, △G was obtained indicating feasibility and spontaneity of the adsorption process. The adsorp- tion capacity of △C-STl （178.57 mg.g-1） is considerably high compared to most adsorbents synthesized from various sources, due to the well-defined textural properties coupled with surface chemistry of STl-AC which fa- vors aspirin adsorption. The results demonstrate the potential of STl-AC as aspirin adsorbent.

Acute effects of chlorpyryphos-ethyl and secondary treated effluents on acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase activities in Carcinus maenas

The acute effects of commercial formulation of chlorpyrifos-ethyl （Dursban ） and the secondary treated industrial/urban effluent （STIUE） exposure on acetylcholinesterase （ACHE） and butyrylcholinesterase （BuChE） activities in hepatopancreas and gills of Mediterranean crab Carcinus maenas were investigated. After 2 d of exposure to chlorpyriphos-ethyl, the AChE activity was inhibited in both organs at concentrations of 3.12 and 7.82 μg/l, whereas the BuCHE was inhibited only at higher concentration 7.82 μg/l of commercial preparation Dursban~. The exposure of crabs to Dursban （3.12 μg/l） showed a significant decrement of ACHE activity at 24 and 48 h, whereas the BuChE was inhibited only after 24 h and no inhibition for both enzymes was observed after 72 h. Moreover, a significant repression of AChE activity was observed in both organs of C. maenas exposed to 5% of STIUE. Our experiments indicated that the measurement of AChE activity in gills and hepatopancreas of C. maenas would be useful biomarker of organophosphorous （OP） and of neurotoxic effects of STIUE in Tunisia.
