Beef Meat Allergy in Cow’s Milk Allergic Adults

Milk has been recognized as a leading cause of food allergy in children;however, studies on cow’s milk allergy (CMA) in adults are scanty. The known cross-reactivity of bovine serum albumin and bovine γ-globulin which are present in both milk and beef is recognized, so that, patients with allergy to cow’s milk are often instructed to avoid beef. Our Objective was to determine the prevalence of allergy to beef meat in adult patients with allergy to cow’s milk. Thirty adults with CMA were included in the study. The diagnosis of cow’s milk and beef allergy was based on a thorough history concerning type of allergic symptoms and its link to the ingestion of milk and beef supported by skin prick test (SPT) with fresh milk and raw beef extracts and by determination of their serum specific IgE by enzyme linked immuosorbant assay (ELISA). Finally, cross reactivity test between milk and meat was performed. Three of 30 patients (10%) evaluated for CMA were found to have symptomatic sensitivity to beef, 2 gave urticarial symptoms and one gave gastrointestinal symptoms. Six patients (20%) had a positive SPT response to beef. On the other hand, beef specific IgE were positive in 18 CMA patients (60%). Concordance of positive specific IgE and SPT to meat was found in only 5 patients (17%). Mean cross reactivity between milk and beef was 31.6 ± 13.1% among studied patients. Patients allergic to milk protein are not necessarily to be allergic to beef, so, elimination of beef from the diet of adults with CMA should not be done except after investigations so as not to lose its nutritional value without benefit.

A green, simple and highly efficient synthesis of N,N-diarylsubstituted formamidines has been developed employs reaction of triethylorthoformate (TEO) with aromatic amines catalyzed by cerium (IV) ammonium nitrate (CAN) in water at ambient temperature. This method offers the advantages of proceeding under environmentally friendly technique with high yields and simplicity either in conducting the reaction or handling the products.

Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common entrapment neuropathy and consists of the compression of the median nerve as it courses through the carpal tunnel. Carpal tunnel syndrome was diagnosed by history and physical examination, electrodiagnostic studies (EDX) were used to confirm the diagnosis. However, these studies are painful for most of the patients with high incidence of false positive or false negative results. Ultrasound is a low cost, short time and non-invasiveness technique that could be used to assess a number of parameters of the median nerve (MN) in cases of CTS. Objective: To assess the utility of high resolution ultrasound (HRUS) in assessment of median nerve in carpal tunnel syndrome through different ultrasound diagnostic criteria in patients with clinical and electrodiagnostic evidence of CTS. Patients and Methods: This study included a total of 60 participants divided into 2 groups;group A, the patients group included 30 patients with a clinical diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) and group B, the control group who included 30 sex and age-matched healthy individuals. All the included cases were subjected to full history taking, full general and general examination. Nerve conduction studies were performed using a Caldwell Sierra Wave and the NCS consisted of sensory median nerve conduction tests using standard techniques. High resolution US was performed by using an Aplio 400 Ultrasound System. The following measurement was recorded in each of the included subjects including cross sectional area (CSA) of the median nerve, flattening ratio (FR) of median nerve and palmar bowing (PB) of the flexor retinaculum. Results: There was high statistically significant difference in the mean CSA and mean PB between the cases with CTS and healthy control. Objective:To observe the effects of vitamin E on post-vitrification preimplantation development,gross morphology as well as mitochondrial distribution and ***:Twenty-four female C57BL/6NTac mice,aged 12-16 weeks,were randomly divided into four *** A did not receive any treatment and served as the control *** B was treated with corn oil stripped of tocopherols and served as the vehicle *** C was treated with 60 mg/kg body weight of tocotrienol-rich-fraction with corn oil stripped of *** D was treated with 60 mg/kg body weight of alpha-tocopherol with corn oil stripped of *** treatments were administered orally for 7 consecutive *** superovulation and mating with fertile males,2-cell stage embryos were harvested for *** vitrification development in vitro,gross morphology and ultrastructure were compared between ***:The number of 2 and 8-cell embryo,and blastocysts in the treatment and control groups were not significantly different(P>0.05).Following vitrification,all 2-cell embryos had equal-sized blastomeres and intact zona *** aggregation toward the perinuclear region was seen in all of the treatment *** groups C and D had vacuolated mitochondria,which was reflected in the trend of preimplantation development ***:Vitamin E supplementation of 60 mg/kg body weight does not improve the viability of healthy embryos according to this *** a result,the most effective dose of vitamin E supplementation may be determined by the initial quality of the embryos.

Para-phenylenediamine （PPD）, tile main toxic ingredients of hair dyes, have been used by millions of consumers to improve their appearance. Stone Hair Dye （SHD） mainly contain PPD. SHD and PPD were evaluated by 3-（4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl）-2, 5-diphenyltetrazdium bromide or MTT assay, which measures mitochondria metabolism in the entire cell culture and provides information about the percentage of cell survival. Utilizing the MTT assay, the cytotoxicity of SHD and PPD was determining on SH Sy5y culture from nervous system of rat. The short term exposure SH Sy5y culture were incubated with various aqueous solutions of different concentrations of SHD and PPD, and the LC50 of SHD and para-phenylenediamine was found to be 9.15 and 12.4 mg/ml. With increasing the concentration, cytotoxicity effect increase in PPD and SHD. There is a significant differences （P〈0.01） of cytotoxicity among concentrations used. It concluded that in vitro assay could give important information of the mechanism of toxicity at low dosages.

Background: Patients with ischemic heart disease and reduced ejection fraction have increased risk for postoperative complications and mortality. Our aim was to evaluate the effect of low EF (on the early outcomes after CABG and identify the predictors of mortality. Methods: From August 2018 to November 2019, 170 consecutive patients underwent CABG. Group 1 included 120 patients with EF ( EF (>40;57.90% ± 2.27%), 41 were men (82.0%), and the mean age was 54.30 ± 7.01 years and used as a control group. Results: Overall 30-day mortality was 10/120 patients (8.3%). Factors associated with higher mortality were females (70.0% vs. 17.3%, P Conclusion: CABG in EF < 40% is associated with more complications compared with those had EF higher than 40%;however, the clinical and echocardiographic parameters improved over time.

Hydraulic Air Compressor (HAC) is a device which converts hydraulic energy to energy of compressed air. A better exploitation of this hydraulic resource is currently investigated. The aim of the current work is to analyze a low head open type HAC in terms of compression ratio and HAC efficiency. The performance of HAC is both experimentally and theoretically investigated for various air admission system parameters (air tube length and diameter), downcomer length and hydraulic head. The results are both presented and discussed. Variation of the mean diameter of air bubbles in the downward flow in the downcomer is both determined and investigated. The losses in the whole system are classified, investigated and its impact on HAC is discussed.

Amaranth has become an unconventional crop that interesting of scientists and researchers due to its unique nutritional properties, in addition to bear the water lack and be suitable for all types of soil. The objective of this study was to utilize amaranth flour in preparation of high nutritional value bakery products, crackers and tortilla produced by using amaranth flour instead of corn flour (w/w) by 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% levels substitution. The prepared products were evaluated for its chemical composition, minerals content, amino acids composition, fatty acid composition, color analysis, biological active compounds analysis and sensory evaluation. Results showed that substitution with amaranth flour increased protein, fat, ash and fiber. As for minerals and amino acid, it indicated that the formula No. 3 (25% corn flour/75% amaranth flour) in crackers and the formula No. 2 (50% corn flour/50% amaranth flour) in tortilla contained higher amount of minerals such as iron, calcium, potassium, zinc, magnesium, manganese, copper and phosphorus, and of the essential amino acids such as Leucine, Lysine and valine. On the other hand the formula No. 3 in crackers had the highest unsaturated fatty acids content and lowest of total saturated fatty acids content. While the formula No. 2 in tortilla had the highest saturated fatty acids content and lowest of unsaturated fatty acids content. The results also showed that the incorporation of amaranth flour in the preparation of the crackers and tortilla led to significantly decreased yellowness and lightness compared with control. Also, results indicated that crackers and tortilla which prepared with amaranth flour exhibited higher antioxidant activity than control formulas. Concerning sensory evaluation of crackers, results showed significant decrease in appearance, color and overall acceptability while, tortilla had significant decrease in general appearance, color and total score at all formulas.
