Blood disorders include a wide spectrum of blood-associated malignancies resulting from inherited or acquired *** ineffectiveness of existing therapies against blood disorders arises from different reasons,one of which is drug resistance,so different types of leukemia may show different responses to *** occurs for a variety of genetic and acquired reasons,leading to uncontrolled proliferation in one or more cell *** the genetic defects,oncogene signal transducer and activator of transcription(STAT)family transcription factor,especially STAT3,play an essential role in hematological disorders onset and progress upon mutations,dysfunction,or ***,microRNAs,as biological molecules,has been shown to play a dual role in either tumorigenesis and tumor suppression in various ***,a strong association between STAT3 and miRNA has been *** example,miRNAs can regulate STAT3 via targeting its upstream mediators such as IL6,IL9,and JAKs or directly binding to the STAT3 *** the other hand,STAT3 can regulate *** this review study,we aimed to determine the role of either microRNAs and STAT3 along with their effect on one another's activity and function in hematological malignancies.

Background: Pediatric patients have remained undertreated for postoperative pain because of the difficulty of pain assessment and apprehension. Intrathecal opioids—including morphine—have become a popular method for providing post-operative analgesia in children. Objectives: To compare different doses of morphine via intrathecal route (2 μg/kg, 5 μg/kg, and 10 μg/kg) for post-operative analgesia in pediatric patients following for abdominal neuroblastoma surgery. Methods: This randomized, double-blinded, study was approved by local ethics committee of South Egypt Cancer Institute, Assiut University, Assiut—Egypt, and registered at https://***/ at no.: “NCT03158584”. Forty-five patients scheduled for surgical excision of abdominal neuroblastoma were divided into 3 groups (15 patients each);group (I): received intrathecal morphine 2 μg/kg added to normal saline (3 mL volume). Group (II): received intrathecal morphine 5 μg/kg. Group (III): received intrathecal morphine 10 μg/kg. Intra-, and post-operative hemodynamics, FLACC score, time to first request of rescue analgesia, total analgesic consumption, and side effects were recorded for 24 hours. Results: there was a significant reduction in FLACC score in groups II and III starting immediately till 24 hours postoperatively compared to group I (P 0.05). No significant difference was observed between groups in side effects. Conclusions: 5 μg/kg of IT morphine achieved a reasonable balance between postoperative analgesia, and the incidence of side effects in pediatric patients following major abdominal cancer surgeries.

以三苯基膦(PPh_(3))为共配体,合成了2种新的铜(Ⅰ)和铜(Ⅱ)与菲啶(Phend)的配合物,其组成为[Cu(κ^(1)‑Phend)_(2)Cl_(2)](1)和[Cu_(2)(κ^(1)‑Phend)_(2)(κ^(1)‑PPh_(3))_(2)(μ‑Cl)_(2)](2)。这些配合物的结构通过元素分析、摩尔电导率、FT‑IR、UV‑Vis和单晶X射线衍射进行了研究。典型配合物1的X射线衍射分析显示,Cu(Ⅱ)配位构型为扭曲的平面四方形,而双核配合物2的Cu(Ⅰ)中心为含μ‑Cl-离子的不规则四面体构型。FT‑IR谱、元素分析以及UV‑Vis谱证实了它们的成分、几何形状和配体相互作用。2种配合物的结构通过密度泛函理论(DFT)计算进行了优化,以解释电子光谱特性。

Pancreaticoduodenectomy in the Middle East: Achieving optimal results through specialization and standardization

Background: Pancreaticoduodenectomy is a challenging surgical intervention that remains the cornerstone in the treatment of localized peri-ampullary pathologies. The concept of treatment standardization has been well-established in many high-volume centers in the world. Here, we present our experience in pancreaticoduodenectomy from 1994 to 2015. Methods: We performed a retrospective review of the medical charts of patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy at our institution. Data was entered to SPSS statistical software and analyzed. The Mann-Whitney U and Fisher’s exact tests were used to report statistical differences between groups. Results: Of the 370 patients who underwent pacreaticoduodenectomy, 300 were analyzed. The 1-, 3-, 5- and 10-year survival rates were 85%, 35%, 15%, and 7%, respectively with a 30-day mortality rate of 5.0%(15 patients). The median age of the patients was 61 (13-84) years, with 193 (64.3%) males and 107 (35.7%) females. The median operative time was 300 (130-570) min. The median postoperative length of hospital stay was 12 (5-76) days. Thirty-two patients required re-laparotomies;10 for pancreatic leak, 7 for biliary leak and 15 for control of bleeding. Seventy-five (25.0%) patients developed pancreatic fistulae. Delayed gastric emptying was present in 31 (10.3%) patients. A significant improvement in surgical outcome was observed in cases done after 2008 which indicates the important role of specialized team in surgical management. Conclusions: The number of patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy has been increasing annually over the past twenty-two years in our institution with results comparable to published series from high-volume centers. Through standardization of surgical techniques and perioperative management carried out by a specialist team, our results continue to improve despite the increasing complexity of cases referred to our unit.

A case report of prenatally detected achondrogenesis typeⅡ with an occipital cephalocele

Achondrogenesis is a very rare lethal skeletal disorder. Here we describe a case of prenatally diagnosed achondrogenesis typeⅡ in a 28 year-old woman at (17+4) wk. She had history of 5 first trimester missed abortions. The couple is consanguineous. Ultrasonography showed extreme micromelia, short neck and trunk, large head and prominent abdomen. Delayed ossification in sacral bones was detected and ossification of pubic rami was poor. There were associated large cystic hygroma, anasarca and also high occipital cephalocele. Posterior fossa was normal. Mild hypothelorism, depressed nasal bridge, low set ear and mild retrognathia were identified too. Amniocentesis result was compatible with a normal female fetus. Post mortem whole body radiography confirmed the diagnosis. To our knowledge, this is the second case report with association of cephalocele and achondrogenesis typeⅡ.

A rotating disc column (RDC) with inner diameter 68 mm and 28 compartments is used in this study. Parameters including Sauter mean diameter, hold-up and mass transfer coefficient are measured experimentally un-der different operating conditions. The correlations in literature for molecular diffusion and enhancement factor equation including eddy diffusion, circulation and oscillation of drops are evaluated. A new equation for the effec-tive diffusion coefficient as a function of Reynolds number is proposed. The calculated values of mass transfer co-efficient and column height from the previous equations and present equation are compared with the experimental data. The results from the present equation are in very good agreement with the experimental results, which may be used in designing RDC columns.

Mapping forests is an important process in managing natural *** present,due to spectral resolution limitations,multispectral images do not give a complete separation between different forest *** contrast,advances in remote sensing technologies have provided hyperspectral tools and images as a solution for the determination of *** this study,spectral signatures for stone pine（Pinus pinea L.） forests were collected using an advanced spectroradiometer ＂ASD FieldSpec 4 Hi-Res＂ with an accuracy of 1 *** spectral signatures are used to compare between different multispectral and hyperspectral satellite *** comparison is based on processing satellite images： hyperspectral Hyperion,hyperspectral CHRIS-Proba,Advanced Land Imager（ali）,and Landsat *** and classification methods for hyperspectral and multispectral images are investigated and *** addition,a well-known hyperspectral image classification algorithm,spectral angle mapper（SAM）,has been improved to perform the classification process efficiently based on collected spectral *** results show that the modified SAM is 9% more accurate than the conventional *** addition,experiments indicate that the CHRIS-Proba image is more accurate than Landsat 8（overall accuracy 82%,precision 93%,and Kappa coefficient 0.43 compared to 60,67%,and 0.035,respectively）.Similarly,Hyperion is better than ali in mapping stone pine（overall accuracy 92%,precision 97%,and Kappa coefficient 0.74 compared to 52,56%,and -0.032,respectively）.

Objective:To determine the chemical composition,total phenolic and total flavonoid contents ofthe crude extracts from leaves and stems of a Lebanese plantEuphorbia macroclada schyzoceras(***),and to evaluate their antioxidant potential using DPPH,H2O2,and chelating offerrous ions ***:Quantification of the total phenolic and total flavonoid contents ofthe crude extracts from leaves and stems and the antioxidant activities were evaluated usingspectrophotometric *** chemical composition has been estimated using differenttechniques such as IR,LC/MS and ***:Ethanolic extract from leaves *** was better than aqueous extract and showed higher content in total phenolic and total flavonoidthan found in the *** the other hand,using DPPH and H2O2tests,this extract from leavesshowed higher antioxidant capacity than aqueous ***,using the chelating of ferrousions test,the antioxidant activity of the aqueous extract of both stems and leaves was strongerthan that of ethanolic *** chemical composition of the whole plant showed the presence ofsome aromatic compounds and fatty ***:Both ethanolic and water extracts fromboth parts of this plant are effective and have good antioxidant ***,this plant can be usedin the prevention of a number of diseases related to oxidative stress.
