The sexually dimorphic expression of glutamate transporters and their implication in pain after spinal cord injury

In addition to the loss of motor function,~60% of patients develop pain after spinal cord *** cellular-molecular mechanisms are not well understood,but the data suggests that plasticity within the rostral,epicenter,and caudal penumbra of the injury site initiates a cellularmolecular interplay that acts as a rewiring mechanism leading to central neuropathic *** can lead to the formation of new connections triggering abnormal sensory *** excitatory glutamate transporters are responsible for the reuptake of extracellular glutamate which makes them a critical target to prevent neuronal hyperexcitability and *** previous studies showed a sexually dimorphic therapeutic window for spinal cord injury after treatment with the selective estrogen receptor modulator *** this study,we investigated the anti-allodynic effects of tamoxifen in male and female rats with spinal cord *** hypothesized that tamoxifen exerts anti-allodynic effects by increasing the expression of glutamate transporters,leading to reduced hyperexcitability of the secondary neuron or by decreasing aberrant *** and female rats received a moderate contusion to the thoracic spinal cord followed by subcutaneous slow-release treatment of tamoxifen or matrix pellets as a control(placebo).We used von Frey monofilaments and the“up-down method”to evaluate mechanical *** treatment decreased allodynia only in female rats with spinal cord injury revealing a sexdependent *** expression profile of glutamatergic transporters(excitatory amino acid transporter 1/glutamate aspartate transporter and excitatory amino acid transporter 2/glutamate transporter-1)revealed a sexual dimorphism in the rostral,epicenter,and caudal areas of the spinal cord with a pattern of expression primarily on *** rodents showed a significantly higher level of excitatory amino acid transporter-1 expression while male rodents showed increased

There is a strong evidence supporting the hypothesis of synaptic dysfunction as a major contributor to neural circuit and network disruption underlying emotional and mood dysregulation in psychiatric disorders(Simmons et al.,2024).Diverse sets of distinct molecular signaling pathways converge on the synapse to regulate synaptogenesis,synaptic function,and synaptic plasticity in brain regions and circuits through complex interactions organized by numerous multivalent protein scaffolds,including the family of proteins known as A-kinase anchoring proteins(AKAPs).

Improvement of mining Fuzzy multiple-Level Association Rules from Quantitative Data

Data-mining techniques have been developed to turn data into useful task-oriented knowledge. most algorithms for mining association rules identify relationships among transactions using binary values and find rules at a single-concept level. Extracting multilevel association rules in transaction databases is most commonly used in data mining. This paper proposes a multilevel fuzzy association rule mining model for extraction of implicit knowledge which stored as quantitative values in transactions. For this reason it uses different support value at each level as well as different membership function for each item. By integrating fuzzy-set concepts, data-mining technologies and multiple-level taxonomy, our method finds fuzzy association rules from transaction data sets. This approach adopts a top-down progressively deepening approach to derive large itemsets and also incorporates fuzzy boundaries instead of sharp boundary intervals. Comparing our method with previous ones in simulation shows that the proposed method maintains higher precision, the mined rules are closer to reality, and it gives ability to mine association rules at different levels based on the user’s tendency as well.

Relationship between prenatal care and the outcome of pregnancy in low-risk pregnancies

Introduction: This study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between prenatal care and outcome of pregnancy. method: This is a cross-sectional study on 210 pregnant women referring to Afzalipour Hospital for their labor, consisting of 140 women with adequate care and 70 with inadequate care. The outcome of pregnancy for mother and newborn was compared between the two groups. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 15. P value ≤ 0.05 was considered as significant and the power of statistical test was 80%. Findings: The findings indicate that the age of women with inadequate care was lower compared to those receiving adequate care (p = 0.003). Furthermore, women with inadequate care had lower education (p = 0.00007) and their prenatal care started in more advanced gestational ages (p = 0.0003). Neonates born to women with inadequate care tended to have lower birth weights (p = 0.05) and higher rates of admission to NICU (p = 0.02). Conclusion: Our findings indicate that women with lower age and education received less prenatal care and adequate prenatal care results in better birth weights and decreased rate of admission in NICU.

Influence of Partial Drying on Oil Uptake ＆ Quality Attributes of French Fries

Today＇s customers are looking for non-fat or low-fat containing products. One of the methods to reduce oil absorption in fried products is partial drying before frying. In this study, influence of partial drying （10 min, 20 min, 30 min） on oil absorption and quality attributes of three potato cultivars （Agria, Satina, kenebek） was evaluated. Our results reveled that in Agria, partial drying leads to an increase in oil absorption compared with non-dried sample （p〈0.05）. In kenebek, partial drying reduced the oil absorption and improved the texture and color of the produced French fries （p〈0.05）. Similar results were observed with Satina as with kenebek. In all three varieties, partial drying increased the dry matter, color quality and required cutting force of the French fries （p〈0.05）.

Incorporation of GIS Based Program into Hydraulic model for Water Level modeling on River Basin

Water resources management usually requires that hydraulic, ecological, and hydrological models be linked. The Hy- drologic Engineering Center River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) hydraulic model and the Hydrologic Engineering Center Geospatial River Analysis System (HEC-GEORAS), imitates flow and water profiles in the Neka river basin’s downstream flood plain. Hydrograph phases studied during the flood seasons of 1986-1999 and from 2002-2004 were used to calibrate and verify the hydraulic model respectively. Simulations of peak flood stages and hydrographs’ evaluations are congruent with studies and observations, with the former showing mean square errors between 4.8 - 10 cm. HECRAS calculations and forecast flood water levels. Nash-Sutcliffe effectiveness (CR3) is more than 0.92 along with elevated levels of water which were created with some effectiveness (CR5) of 0.94 for the validation period. The coupled two models show good performance in the water level modeling.
