We present new analyses of variations in O-C diagrams of three Algol-type eclipsing binary stars:AD And,TW Cas and IV *** have used all published minima times(including visual and photographic)as well as newly determined ones from our and Super Wasp *** determined orbital parameters of 3rdbodies in the systems with statistically significant errors,using our code based on genetic algorithms and Markov chain Monte Carlo *** confirmed the multiple nature of AD And and the triple-star model of TW Cas,and we proposed a quadruple-star model of IV Cas.

Psoriasis is a lifelong, chronic, recurring and highly variable skin disease. Psoriatic plaques are formed through induction of inflammation in the epidermis and deregulation of keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation. This results in red or silvery scaly patches on the surface of the epidermis. To look within the lesions and define the changes in gene expression in psoriasis, investigators compared the transcriptomes of psoriatic plaques, of uninvolved skin of patients and of skin from healthy individuals. In several large studies with many patients, the genes expressed at much higher level in psoriatic plaques included those responsible for the cell cycle, keratinocyte differentiation, and response to wounding; conversely, lipid and fatty acid metabolism enzymes were expressed at reduced levels. The nonlesional and healthy skin appeared fairly similar. The largest study included paired biopsies from 85 individual patients. The same group used transcription profiling to follow the course of treatment in a set of patients, and correlated changes in the transcriptome of blood samples of psoriatic patients. Importantly, a noninvasive technique involving tape-stripping of skin, has been shown effective in transcriptional studies of psoriasis. Current efforts are focused on deconvoluting the contributions of various cell types in psoriasis, keratinocytes, lymphocytes, fibroblasts etc. Taken as a whole, these efforts will lead to personalized medicine, i.e., to specific, individualized treatments of patients with psoriasis.

Many problems in physics are inherently of multi-scale nature. The issues of MHD turbulence or magnetic reconnection, namely in the hot and sparse, almost collision-less astrophysical plasmas, can stand as clear examples. The Finite Element Method (FEM) with adaptive gridding appears to be the appropriate numerical implementation for handling the broad range of scales contained in such high Lundquist-number MHD problems. In spite the FEM is now routinely used in engineering practice in solid-state and fluid dynamics, its usage for MHD simulations has recently only begun and only few implementations exist so far. In this paper we present our MHD solver based on the Least-Square FEM (LSFEM) formulation. We describe the transformation of the MHD equations into form required for finding the LSFEM functional and some practical issues in implementation of the method. The algorithm was tested on selected problems of ideal (non-resistive) and resistive MHD. The tests show the usability of LSFEM for solving MHD equations.

Recent findings suggest that apoptotic protein apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF) may also play an important non-apoptotic function inside mitochondria. AIF was proposed to be an important component of respiratory chain complex I that is the major producer of superoxide radical. The possible role of AIF is still controversial. Superoxide production could be used as a valuable measure of complex I function, because the majority of superoxide is produced there. Therefore, we employed superoxide-specific mitochondrial fluo- rescence dye for detection of superoxide production. We studied an impact of AIF knockdown on function of mitochondrial complex I by analyzing superoxide production in selected cell lines. Our results show that tumoral telomerase-positive (TP) AIF knockdown cell lines display significant increase in superoxide pro- duction in comparison to control cells, while a non-tumoral cell line and tumoral telomerase-negative cell lines with alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT) show a decrease in superoxide production. According to these results, we can conclude that AIF knockdown disrupts function of complex I and therefore increases the superoxide production in mitochondria. The distinct effect of AIF depletion in various cell lines could result from recently discovered activity of telomerase in mitochondria of TP cancer cells, but this hypothesis needs further investigation.

Gear drives are one of the most common parts in many rotating machinery. If the gear drive runs under lower torque load, nonlinear effects like gear mesh interruption can occur and vibration is accompanied by impact motions of the gears, This paper presents an original method of the mathematical modelling of gear drive nonlinear vibrations by using the modal synthesis method with degrees of freedom number reduction. The model respects nonlinearities caused by gear mesh interruption, parametric gearing excitation caused by time-varying meshing stiffness and nonlinear contact forces acting between journals of the rolling-element bearings and the outer housing. The nonlinear model is then used for investigation of gear drive vibration, especially for constant gear mesh determination. The theoretical method is applied for investigating of test gear drive nonlinear vibration.

We investigate plane-parallel wave metrics from the point of view of their (Poisson-Lie) T-dualizability. For that purpose we reconstruct the metrics as backgrounds of nonlinear sigma models on Lie groups. For construction of dual backgrounds we use Drinfel’d doubles obtained from the isometry groups of the metrics. We find dilaton fields that enable to satisfy the vanishing beta equations for the duals of the homogenous plane-parallel wave metric. Torsion potentials or B-fields, invariant w.r.t. the isometry group of Lobachevski plane waves are obtained by the Drinfel’d double construction. We show that a certain kind of plurality, different from the (atomic) Poisson-Lie T-plurality, may exist in case that metrics admit several isometry subgroups having the dimension of the Riemannian manifold. An example of that are two different backgrounds dual to the homogenous plane-parallel wave metric.

Organizations need to use a proved methodology to reduce implementation risks and enable the enterprise resource planning （ERP） solution to be put into operation as quickly as possible. The right implementation methodology will also help ensure that the ERP implementation fully addresses an organization＇s business goals and objectives. Modern ERP implementation methodology encourages and supports a progressive approach to the management for users of ERP systems. A company is constantly seeking better methods and models for decision supports in all kinds of decisions and developing/copying new products/markets that generate the growth of the company. On the other hand, a company creates efficient and effective operations that improve the return on investment, because ERP is always considered as an asset. This paper focuses on the interaction of culture in a company, business strategy, and organizational skills and balances the relationship among ERP methodology, ERP implementation, and the performance of the company. Considering the fact that different ERP systems use different methodologies, short descriptions of the most dominant brand name ERP are analyzed （Oracle Financials, PeopleSoft, and systems, applications, and products （SAP） implementation methodology）. Although all methodologies may look similar, the selection of a proper methodology is the most critical part in ERP investment. The focus of this paper is on the accelerated SAP methodology, also named as ASAP methodology, because it is the most used one on the worldwide market of ERP systems.

Effects of Contractual Savings Scheme on Slovak National Economy

Abstract： Contractual savings scheme is specific purpose saving, which was provided in Slovakia since 1993. It is a state-supported saving, the purpose of which is to finance housing needs in the Slovak Republic. Savers can be an individual, association of owners or legal person who enters into a contract with building society or for whom the contract about contractual savings scheme is concluded. State bonuses is contractual savings scheme, a significantly more attractive form of targeted saving. This ensures the supply of investment in the construction sector, which in turn through multiplier effect significantly affects other sectors of the national economy. In this article, the authors deal with the influence of contractual savings scheme to the national economy of the Slovak Republic. The main objective of this study is describing the effectiveness of state bonuses for contractual savings scheme. It is simulated through the impact of contractual savings scheme on employment, on public funds and impact on public finances. This effect is illustrated on a model of state subsidizing of each one Euro spent through the state bonuses for contractual savings scheme and its impact for the national economy with offsetting the significant role of the multiplier effect.
