BACKGROUND Antiviral treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis B(CHB)in the grey zone of treatment comands risk management in order to optimize the health *** this sense,the identification of HBV mutants related with an increased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)could be useful to identify subpopulations with potential indication of antiviral *** To analyze the prevalence/persistence of hepatitis B virus(HBV)preS and basal core promoter(BCP)/precore/core variants associated to HCC development in CHB patients in the grey *** Work was designed as a longitudinal retrospective study,including 106 plasma samples from 31 patients with CHB in the grey zone of treatment:Hepatitis B e antigen negative,HBV-DNA levels between 12-20000 IU/ml,normal or discordant transaminase levels during follow up and mild/moderate necroinflammatory activity in liver biopsy or Fibroscan(up to 9.5 kPa).Serum HBVDNA was tested using the Abbott Real Time HBV Assay and the BCP/precore/core and the hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)coding regions were analyzed in positive samples by PCR/bulk-sequencing to identify the HCCrelated HBV *** High-risk HCC related mutants were detected in 24(77%)patients:19(61%)in the BCP/precore/core,and 7(23%)in the HBsAg coding region(2 preS1 and 5 preS2 deletions).The prevalence of preS deletions was genotype-dependent:3/5(60%)patients with preS2 deletions and 1/2 with preS1 deletions were infected with the HBV-E *** HBV-E was the most prevalent in sub-Saharan patients,a correlation between preS deletions and ethnicity was also found:6/8(75%)sub-Saharan vs 1/19(5%)Caucasian patients had preS deletions(P=0.00016).Remarkably,this correlation was maintained in those patients infected with HBV-A,a minor genotype in sub-Saharan patients:2/2 patients infected with HBV-A from West Africa vs 0/6 of Caucasian origin had preS *** HCC related variants were the major strains and persisted over time(up to 48 mo).Pa

Song-dynasty Chan depended for its place in society and its financial resources on lay patrons. Educated gentleman-officials （shidafu） were the wealthiest and most powerful of men. From the time of Dahui Zonggao in the Southern Song, linji teachers shifted from elaborate comments on gongan in periodic sermons to a new method ofgongan inspection termed ＂critical phrase＂（kan huatou）. Scholars have argued that Dahui＇s invention of huatou practice was primarily related to internal Chan rivalries for elite patrons. I argue that Dahui＇s motive was also connected to a rivalry with Pure land Buddhism over the making of appeals to lay followers among scholar-officials. Dahui was aware and tried to communicate the usefulness of huatou in addressing the elite laity＇s doubts about birth and death, and in particular their anxieties about facing the decisive moment of death. Therefore, he developed a gongan discourse that is related to anticipation of dying by harnessing the power of doubt to create an experience of spiritual awakening.

Two chromium removal experiments were performed in bioreactors with and without a magnetic field under the same *** release of the chromium present in the biomass was tested in two experiments one with the initial pH of the medium and one with pH *** objective was to remove Cr(Ⅵ)and total Cr from the effluent,this was carried out by placing biological treatments of synthetic effluent contaminated with 100 mg/l of Cr(Ⅵ)in a bioreactor with neodymium magnets that applied a magnetic field(intensity85.4 mT)to the mixed *** removal of Cr(Ⅵ)was approximately 100.0%for the bioreactor with a magnetic field and 93,3%for the bioreactor without a magnetic field for9 hr of recirculation of the synthetic effluent by the *** removal of total Cr was61.6%and 48.4%,with and without a magnetic field,respectively;for 24 *** desorption of Cr(VI)in the synthetic effluent was 0.05 mg/l,which is below the limit established by Brazilian legislation(0.1 mg/l)for the discharge of effluent containing Cr(Ⅵ)into bodies of *** results obtained for the removal of chromium in synthetic effluent suggested that there was no significant influence on the viable cell count of the mixed *** desorption of Cr(Ⅵ)in synthetic effluent after bioadsorption of chromium by the mixed culture in the process of removal of chromium in bioreactors with and without a magnetic field was not significant in either of the experiments with different initial pHs.

Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) are usually suitable candidates for the development of drug delivery devices. Sol-gel chemistry represents an easy method to obtain porous silica nanoparticles. Mesoporous silica nanomaterials have been widely used for drug delivery purposes. In this work we synthesized silica based materials using two molar alkoxide:water ratios 1:4 and 1:8, incorporating paracetamol to develop a nano-sized matrix for controlled release purposes. The samples exhibited different values for surface area, porosity, particle size and distinct punctual defects. Infrared and UV-visible spectroscopic studies were carried out to demonstrate the effect of water concentration and the adequate incorporation of paracetamol molecules. Nitrogen adsorption characterization was realized and the estimated BET surface values were from 532 to 825 m2/g. Kinetic analysis of drug release profiles was performed using the hyperbola model. Transmission electron micrographs showed that all the materials formed aggregates of small particles with size between 10 - 60 nm. Mesoporous SiO2 materials were proved to be a suitable system for controlled release of paracetamol.

In this paper, we apply the method of directly defining the inverse mapping introduced by liao and Zhao [On the method of directly defining inverse mapping for nonlinear differential equations, Numer. Algorithms 72（4）（2016） 989-1020] to the problem of prostate cancer immunotherapy. We extend this method in two directions： first, we apply the method to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equation, and second, we propose a new technique for finding the base functions in the considered algorithm.

The mammalian family Bovidae has been widely studied in ecomorphological research,with important applications to paleoecological and paleohabitat *** studies of bovid craniomandibular features in relation to diet have used linear *** this study,we conduct landmark-based geometric-morphometric analyses to evaluate whether different dietary groups can be distinguished by mandibular *** analysis includes data for 100 species of extant bovids,covering all bovid tribes and 2 dietary *** the first classification with 3 feeding categories,we found that browsers(including frugivores),mixed feeders,and grazers are moderately well separated using mandibular shape.A finer dietary classification(frugivore,browser,browser-grazer intermediate,generalist,variable grazer,and obligate grazer)proved to be more useful for differentiating dietary extremes(frugivores and obligate grazers)but performed equally or less well for other ***,frugivorous bovids,which belong in tribe Cephalophini,have a distinct mandibular shape that is readily distinguished from all other dietary groups,yielding a 100%correct classification rate from jackknife *** main differences in mandibular shape found among dietary groups are related to the functional needs of species during forage prehension and *** with browsers,both frugivores and grazers have mandibles that are adapted for higher biomechanical demand of ***,frugivore mandibles are adapted for selective *** results call for more work on the feeding ecology and functional morphology of frugivores and offer an approach for reconstructing the diet of extinct bovids.
