地拉那金字塔是一个新型的文化中心,位于阿尔巴尼亚首都的中心地带。地拉那金字塔最初是作为纪念共产主义者恩维尔·霍查(EnverHoxha)而建的博物馆,MVRDV对其进行了巨大的改造,现在的地拉那金字塔重新使用了混凝土结构,已经成为了一个新公园中的开放式雕塑。公园和雕塑中散布着一个个五颜六色的盒子,这些盒子散落在原来的建筑中及其周围,里面有咖啡馆、工作室、工作坊、创业办公室、孵化器、节庆活动,还有供阿尔巴尼亚青年免费学习各种技术和知识的教室。建筑倾斜的外墙还增加了台阶,让阿尔巴尼亚人民可以在这位前共产主义者的杰作上漫步。

We present coupled ocean-sea-ice simulations of the Middle Jurassic（~165 Ma） when Laurasia and Gondwana began drifting apart and gave rise to the formation of the Atlantic Ocean. Since the opening of the Proto-Caribbean is not well constrained by geological records, configurations with and without an open connection between the Proto-Caribbean and Panthalassa are examined. We use a sea-floor bathymetry obtained by a recently developed three-dimensional（3D） elevation model which compiles geological, palaeogeographical and geophysical data. Our original approach consists in coupling this elevation model, which is based on detailed reconstructions of oceanic realms, with a dynamical ocean circulation model. We find that the Middle Jurassic bathymetry of the Central Atlantic and Proto-Caribbean seaway only allows for a weak current of the order of 2 Sv in the upper 1000 m even if the system is open to the West. The effect of closing the western boundary of the Proto-Caribbean is to increase transport related to barotropic gyres in the southern hemisphere and to change water properties, such as salinity, in the Neo-Tethys. Weak upwelling rates are found in the nascent Atlantic Ocean in the presence of this superficial current and we discuss their compatibility with deep-sea sedimentological records in this region.

The role of chirp on the light-matter interaction of femto- and pico-second laser pulses with functional structured surfaces is studied using drag-reducing riblets as an example. The three-dimensional, periodic microstructure naturally gives rise to a mutual interplay of （i） reflection, （ii） scattering, and （iii） diffraction phenomena of incident coherent light. Furthermore, for femtosecond pulses, the structure induces （iv） an optical delay equivalent to a consecutive temporal delay of 230 fs in places of the pulse. These features enable studying experimentally and numerically the effect of tuning both pulse duration τ and spectral bandwidth Δω on the features of the wideangle scattering pattern from the riblet structure. As a result, we discovered a significant breakdown of fringes in the scattering pattern with decreasing pulse duration and/or increasing spectral bandwidth. This unique type of chirp control is straightforward/y explained and verified by numerical modeling considering the spectral and temporal interaction between different segments within the scattered, linearly chirped pulse and the particular geometric features of the riblet structure. The visibility of the fringe pattern can be precisely adjusted, and the offstate is achieved using τ 〈 230 fs or Δω〉 2.85 × 10^13 rad/s.

Type 2 diabetes(T2D)is a global epidemic *** prevalence of T2D in adolescents and young adults is increasing *** mechanisms leading to T2D in young people are similar to those in older ***,the severity of onset,reduced insulin sensitivity and defective insulin secretion can be different in subjects who develop the disease at a younger age.T2D is associated with different complications,including bone fragility with consequent susceptibility to *** purpose of this systematic review was to describe T2D bone fragility together with all the possible involved *** studies have reported that patients with T2D show preserved,or even increased,bone mineral density compared with *** apparent paradox can be explained by the altered bone quality with increased cortical bone porosity and compromised mechanical ***,reduced bone turnover has been described in T2D with reduced markers of bone formation and *** findings prompted different researchers to highlight the mechanisms leading to bone fragility,and numerous critical altered pathways have been identified and *** detail,we focused our attention on the role of microvascular disease,advanced glycation end products,the senescence pathway,the Wnt/β-catenin pathway,the osteoprotegerin/receptor-activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand,osteonectin and fibroblast growth factor *** understanding of type 2 myeloid bone fragility is an important issue as it could suggest possible interventions for the prevention of poor bone quality in T2D and/or how to target these pathways when bone disease is clearly evident.

In this paper,we describe the data management practices and services developed for making FAIR compliant a scientific archive of Scanning Tunneling Microscopy(STM)*** a first step,we extracted the instrument metadata of each image of the dataset to create a structured *** then enriched these metadata with information on the structure and composition of the surface by means of a pipeline that leverages human annotation,machine learning techniques,and instrument metadata *** visually explore both images and metadata,as well as to improve the accessibility and usability of the dataset,we developed"STM explorer"as a web service integrated within the Trieste Advanced Data services(TriDAS)*** top of these data services and tools,we propose an implementation of the W3C PROV standard to describe provenance metadata of STM images.

Magnesium alloys have been widely studied as materials for temporary implants,but their use has been limited by their corrosion ***,coatings have been proven to provide an effective *** only little explored in the field,Atomic Layer Deposition(ALD)stands out as a coating technology due to the outstanding film conformality and density ***,we provide first insights into the corrosion behavior and the induced biological response of 100 nm thick ALD TiO_(2),HfO_(2)and ZrO_(2)coatings on AZ31 alloy by means of potentiodynamic polarization curves,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),hydrogen evolution and MTS colorimetric assay with L929 *** three coatings improve the corrosion behavior and cytotoxicity of the ***,HfO_(2)coatings were characterized by the highest corrosion resistance and cell viability,slightly higher than those of ZrO_(2)***_(2)was characterized by the lowest corrosion improvements and,though generally considered a biocompatible coating,was found to not meet the demands for cellular applications(it was characterized by grade 3 cytotoxicity after 5 days of culture).These results reveal a strong link between biocompatibility and corrosion resistance and entail the need of taking the latter into consideration in the choice of a biocompatible coating to protect degradable Mg-based alloys.
