目的评价组间肌电反复性对不同肌肉组选择导出模块的影响。方法记录12名参与实验者在自选速度下行走时16块肌肉的肌电图。用组内相关系数评价每个步行周期的肌肉兴奋度和肌肉模块。依据肌肉兴奋度的反复性,区分出3种类型的肌肉组。结果可靠肌肉组显示出较高的组内相关系数(>0.4),而全身肌肉组和混合肌肉组显示出较低的组内相关系数(<0.4)。3种类型肌肉组比较,可靠肌肉组分析得出的模块具有最好的反复性,全身肌肉组和混合肌肉组的反复性较低。结论具有较高可靠性的肌肉兴奋性能够得出较一致的模块。得出一致模块的方法非常重要,尤其是在依靠肌肉兴奋性反馈而改变的运动模式中。

Accumulation of poly(adenosine diphosphate-ribose)by sustained supply of calcium inducing mitochondrial stress in pancreatic cancer cells

BACKGROUND The biochemical phenomenon defined as poly adenosine diphosphate(ADP)-ribosylation(PARylation)is essential for the progression of pancreatic ***,the excessive accumulation of poly ADP-ribose(PAR)induces apoptosis-inducing factor(AIF)release from mitochondria and energy deprivation resulting in the caspase-independent death of cancer *** To investigate whether sustained calcium supply could induce an anticancer effect on pancreatic cancer by PAR *** Two pancreatic cancer cell lines,AsPC-1 and CFPAC-1 were used for the *** influx and mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(ROS)were observed by fluorescence *** in enzyme levels,as well as PAR accumulation and energy metabolism,were measured using assay ***-dependent cell death was investigated followed by confirming in vivo anticancer effects by sustained calcium *** Mitochondrial ROS levels were elevated with increasing calcium influx into pancreatic cancer ***,excess PAR accumulation,decreased PAR glycohydrolase and ADP-ribosyl hydrolase 3 levels,and energy deprivation were *** vitro and in vivo antitumor effects were confirmed to accompany elevated AIF *** This study visualized the potential anticancer effects of excessive PAR accumulation by sustained calcium supply on pancreatic cancer,however elucidating a clear mode of action remains a challenge,and it should be accompanied by further studies to assess its potential for clinical application.

Two Types of Diurnal Variations in Heavy Rainfall during July over Korea

This study examined the characteristics of the diurnal variations of heavy rainfall(≥110 mm in 12 hours)in Korea and the related atmospheric circulation for July from 1980−*** the analysis period,two dominant pattens of diurnal variation of the heavy rainfall emerged:all-day heavy rainfall(AD)and morning only heavy rainfall(MO)*** the AD-type,the heavy rainfall is caused by abundant moisture content in conjunction with active convection in the morning(0000−1200,LST;LST=UTC+9)and the afternoon hours(1200−2400 LST).These systems are related to the enhanced moisture inflow and upward motion induced by the strengthening of the western North Pacific subtropical high and upper-tropospheric *** the MO-type,heavy rainfall occurs mostly in the morning hours;the associated atmospheric patterns are similar to the *** find that the atmospheric pattern related to severe heavy rainfalls in 2020 corresponds to a typical AD-type and resembles the 1991 heavy-rainfall system in its overall synoptic/mesoscale *** present results imply that extremely heavy rainfall episodes in Korea during the 2020 summer may occur again in the future associated with the recurring atmospheric phenomenon related to the heavy rainfall.

Chronic Hepatitis B in Indian Americans: Lack of Screening and Poor Linkage to Care

Background: Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is a major cause of liver-related morbidity and mortality in the United States (US) and globally. CHB disproportionately affects Asian Americans and many other immigrant minority populations, primarily owing to the high prevalence of CHB in their countries of origin. India is a country with a medium-to-high prevalence of hepatitis B (HB) (>2%) and has over 40 million people infected with hepatitis B virus (HBV), with more than 115,000 deaths annually from HBV-related complications. Indian Americans are one of the largest immigrant populations in the US but remain underdiagnosed and poorly linked to clinical care. We, therefore, assessed the HBV prevalence and evaluated the linkage-to-care (LTC) among Indian Americans to develop strategic plans to reduce the impact of HBV in the US. Methods: Between April 2022 and January 2024, serologic screening and surveys were provided to 328 Indian American adults (age 20 - 80) in New York City. All participants were tested for a triple panel consisting of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs), and hepatitis B core IgG antibody (anti-HBc). A survey was conducted on the subjects chronically infected with HBV regarding their histories of infection. Self-administered questionnaires were employed to evaluate demographic and epidemiologic characteristics. Results: Of 328 screened and evaluated (246 males and 82 females), 10 (3.0%) were HBV-infected, 222 (67.7%) were susceptible to HBV, and 96 (29.3%) were immune. The prevalence of chronic HBV varied between the age groups: 4.6% (age 20 - 40), 3.4% (age 41 - 60), and 1.7% (age 61 - 80). Of 10 chronically infected, only two subjects had been previously diagnosed but were not engaged in care. Conclusion: HBV disproportionately affects Asian Americans, primarily owing to immigration from parts of the world where the disease is endemic. Phase 3 trial of first generation protease inhibitor therapy for hepatitis C virus/human immunodeficiency virus coinfection

AIMTo evaluate efficacy/safety of hepatitis C virus (HCV) protease inhibitor boceprevir with pegylated interferon (PEG-IFN) alfa and weight-based ribavirin (RBV) in a phase 3 trial. METHODSA prospective, multicenter, phase 3, open-label, single-arm study of PEG-IFN alfa, weight-based RBV, and boceprevir, with a PEG-IFN/RBV lead-in phase was performed. The HCV/human immunodeficiency virus coinfected study population included treatment naïve (TN) and treatment experienced (TE) patients. Treatment duration ranged from 28 to 48 wk dependent upon response-guided criteria. All patients had HCV Genotype 1 with a viral load > 10000 IU/mL. Compensated cirrhosis was allowed. Sample size was determined to establish superiority to historical (PEG-IFN plus RBV) rates in sustained viral response (SVR). RESULTSA total of 257 enrolled participants were analyzed (135 TN and 122 TE). In the TN group, 81.5% were male and 54.1% were black. In the TE group, 76.2% were male and 47.5% were white. Overall SVR12 rates (HCV RNA P = 0.002). Among the TN, SVR12 was 42.1% among whites and 27.4% among blacks (P = 0.09). CONCLUSIONThe trial met its hypothesis of improved SVR compared to historical controls but overall SVR rates were low. All-oral HCV treatments will mitigate these difficulties.
