Silver nanowires have attracted wide research attention for their excellent optical, electrical and chemical properties. Many researches were performed toward syn- thesizing and application of silver nanowires. The appli- cation of silver nanowires such as transparent conductive film electrode, conductive silver adhesive and nanowelding technology was introduced herein. Principles and charac- teristics of different synthesizing methods of silver nano- wires were reviewed in this paper, including template method, liquid polyol method, self-assembly method, ultrasonic reduction method and wet chemical method. The liquid polyol method was the most available one to achieve efficient large-scale production.

Geochemical Characteristics of Trace Elements in Argillans of Alfisols in Central China

The relationships between the basic properties and trace elements in soil argillans and corresponding matrix soils were studied by sampling from the B horizons of 26 Alfisols in croplands of the subtropical area in Central China. The soil elements(K, Na, Ca,Mg, Mn, Co, Cu, Cr, Cd, Li, Mo, Ni, Pb, Ti, V, and Zn) were extracted by acid digestion and their contents were measured using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry(ICP-OES). The mean contents of clay and organic matter in the argillans were approximately 1.1 and 1.3 times greater than those in the matrix soils, respectively. The p H values and the contents of P2O5 and bases(K2O, Na2 O, Ca O, and Mg O) in the argillans were higher than those in the corresponding matrix soils. Cu, Cd, Ti, and V were enriched in the argillans. Correlation coefficients and factor analyses showed that Co, Cu, Li, and Zn were bound with phyllosilicates and manganese oxides(Mn-oxides) in the argillans. Cr and Pb were mainly associated with iron oxides(Fe-oxides), while Ni was bound with Mn-oxides. Cd, Ti, and V were chiefly associated with phyllosilicates, but Cr and Mo were rarely enriched in the *** contrast, in the matrix soils, Co and Zn were associated with organic matter and Fe-oxides, Cr existed in phyllosilicates, and Mo was bound to Fe-oxides. Cd, Ti, and V were associated with organic matter. The results of this study suggest that clays, organic matter, and minerals in the argillans dominate the illuviation of trace elements in Alfisols. Argillans might be the active interfaces of elemental exchange and nutrient supply in cropland soils in Central China.

Postoperative tunnel enlargement has been frequently reported after anterior cruciate ligament（ACL）*** screw,as a surgical implant in ACL reconstruction,may influence natural loading transmission and contribute to tunnel *** aims of this study are（1）to quantify the alteration of strain energy density（SED）distribution after the anatomic single-bundle ACL reconstruction;and（2）to characterize the influence of screw length and diameter on the degree of the SED alteration.A validated finite element model of human knee joint was *** screw length ranging from 20 to 30 mm with screw diameter ranging from 7 to 9 mm were *** the post-operative knee,the SED increased steeply at the extra-articular tunnel aperture under compressive and complex loadings,whereas the SED decreased beneath the screw shaft and nearby the intra-articular tunnel *** the screw length could lower the SED deprivation in the proximal part of the bone tunnel;whereas increasing either screw length or diameter could aggravate the SED deprivation in the distal part of the bone *** the elastic modulus of the screw could lower the bone SED deprivation around the *** consideration of both graft stability and SED alteration,a biodegradable interference screw with a long length is recommended,which could provide a beneficial mechanical environment at the distal part of the tunnel,and meanwhile decrease the bone-graft motion and synovial fluid propagation at the proximal part of the *** findings together with the clinical and histological factors could help to improve surgical outcome,and serve as a preliminary knowledge for the following study of biodegradable interference screw.

Macrophages （Mφ） are prominent components of solid tumors and exhibit distinct phenotypes in different microenvironments. We have recently found that tumors can alter the normal developmental process of Mφ to trigger transient activation of monocytes, but the underlying regulatory mechanisms are incompletely understood. Here, we showed that the protein expression of transcription factor C/EBPβ was markedly elevated in tumor-associated Mφ both in vitro and human tumors in situ. The expression of C/EBPβ protein correlated with cytokine production in tumor-activated monocytes. Moreover, we found that C/EBPβ expression was regulated at the post-transcriptional level and correlated with sustained reduction of microRNA-155 （miR-155） in tumor-activated monocytes. Bioinformatic analysis revealed that C/EBPβ is a potential target of miR-155 and luciferase assay confirmed that C/EBPβ translation is suppressed by miR-155 through interaction with the 3＇UTR of C/EBPβ mRNA. Further analysis showed that induction of miR-155 suppressed C/EBPβ protein expression as well as cytokine production in tumor-activated monocytes, an effect which could be mimicked by silencing of C/EBPβ. These results indicate that tumor environment causes a sustained reduction of miR-155 in monocytes/Mφ, which in turn regulates the functional activities of monocytes/Mφ by releasing the translational inhibition of transcription factor C/EBPβ.

Numerical simulation of flow hydrodynamics of struvite pellets in a liquid–solid fluidized bed

Phosphorus recovery in the form of struvite has been aroused in recent decades for its dual advantages in eutrophication control and resource *** usage of the struvite products is normally determined by the size which is largely depended on the *** this study,flow behavior of struvite pellets was simulated by means of Eulerian–Eulerian two-fluid model combining with kinetic theory of granular flow in a liquid–solid fluidized bed reactor（FBR）.A parametric study including the mesh size,time step,discretization strategy,turbulent model and drag model was first developed,followed by the evaluations of crucial operational conditions,particle characteristics and reactor *** results showed that a cold model with the mesh resolution of 16 × 240,default time step of 0.001 sec and first order discretization scheme was accurate enough to describe the *** struvite holdup profile using Syamlal–O＇Brien drag model was best fitted to the experimental data as compared with other drag models and the empirical Richardson–Zaki *** the model evaluation,it showed that liquid velocity and particle size played important roles on both solid holdups and *** reactor diameter only influenced the solid velocity while the static bed height almost took no *** results are direct and can be applied to guide the operation and process control of the struvite ***,the model parameters can also be used as the basic settings in further crystallization simulations.

Seismic responses of high concrete face rockfill dams:A case study

Seismic responses of the Zipingpu concrete face rockfill dam were analyzed using the finite element method. The dynamic behavior of rockfill materials was modeled with a viscoelastic model and an empirical permanent strain model. The relevant parameters were obtained either by back analysis using the field observations or by reference to parameters of similar rockfill materials. The acceleration responses of the dam,the distribution of earthquake-induced settlement, and the gap propagation under the concrete slabs caused by the settlement of the dam were analyzed and compared with site investigations or relevant studies. The mechanism of failure of horizontal construction joints was also analyzed based on numerical results and site observations. Numerical results show that the input accelerations were considerably amplified near the top of the dam, and the strong shaking resulted in considerable settlement of the rockfill materials, with a maximum value exceeding 90 cm at the *** a result of the settlement of rockfill materials, the third-stage concrete slabs were separated from the cushion layer. The rotation of the cantilever slabs about the contacting regions, under the combined action of gravity and seismic inertial forces, led to the failure of the construction joints and tensile cracks appeared above the construction joints. The effectiveness and limitations of the so-called equivalent linear method are also discussed.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide(1).Resident immune cell populations within the liver,which is considered the largest immune organ,increase the pathological complexity of HCC(2).Innate lymphoid cells(ILCs),recently identified leukocytes,are a family of innate immune cells with similar characters to T *** largely exist in intestinal mucosal tissue and regulate intestinal inflammation,mucosal defense,and tissue repair in gut disease processes(3).Unlike T cells,ILCs lack antigen-specific receptors;therefore,they cannot directly mediate antigen-specific responses(4).However,they can be activated by cytokines and/or natural cytotoxic receptors(such as NKp44)(5).ILCs are a highly heterogeneous cell population with high *** on the expression of transcription factors and the production of different cytokines,ILCs can be divided into ILC1,ILC2,and ILC3,which are counterparts of the three main helper T cell subsets(Th1,Th2,and Th17)(6).Although ILCs can be detected in various tumor types,their specific contribution to tumor immunity is yet to be thoroughly elucidated.

Impacts of soil properties on phosphorus adsorption and fractions in purple soils

Information on phosphorus(P) adsorption and its impacts on the redistribution of the P fraction in soil profiles are important for environmental management under intensive agricultural *** clarify the dominant factors influencing soil phosphorus adsorption in an Entisol(locally known as purple soil), P adsorption experiments were conducted in Sichuan Basin of southwestern China for cropland and woodland soils with acidic, neutral and calcareous origins throughout their profile. After various doses of P were added during incubation experiments, soil P fractions were also analyzed. The results showed that there were no significant differences in Fe-oxides and P adsorption along the vertical gradients. Agricultural practices and lower p H conditions reduced the P adsorption capacity of purple soils throughout the soil profiles. For acidic and neutral purple soil profiles, the P adsorption capability was mainly influenced by Fe-oxides and soil texture. Ca-bound P and Fe-Al-bound P represented the majority of the total inorganic P of calcareous *** was a saturation of adsorption capacity by sesquioxide and a high risk of dissoluble reactive P(NH_4 Cl-P) being released out of the soil profile in acidic and neutral purple soils after the greatest P addition, indicated by the higher proportions of NH_4 Cl-P(over 40%) and decreasing Fe-Al-P fraction.P fractions migrated with greater difficulty in calcareous purple soil profiles as Ca-P fraction peaked over 65% when adding a P dose at or greater than 80 g P kg^(-1), indicating the high potential of P *** X-Ray Diffraction analysis also verified the formation of brushite. Adaptive management practices should be designed to alleviate P losses for acidic and neutral purple soils.
