Characterizing ionic species in PM_(2.5) and PM_(10) in four Pearl River Delta cities,South China

PM2.5 and PM10 samples were collected at four major cities in the Pearl River Delta （PRD）, South China, during winter and summer in 2002. Six water-soluble ions, Na^＋, NH4＋, K^＋, Cl^-, NO3^- and SO4^2- were measured using ion chromatography. On average, ionic species accounted for 53.3% and 40.5% for PM2.5 and PM10, respectively in winter and 39.4% and 35.2%, respectively in summer. Secondary ions such as sulfate, nitrate and ammonium accounted for the major part of the total ionic species. Sulfate was the most abundant species followed by nitrate. Overall, a regional pollution tendency was shown that there were higher concentrations of sulfate, nitrate and ammonium in Guangzhou City than those in the other PRD cities. Significant seasonal variations were also observed with higher levels of species in winter but lower in summer. The Asian monsoon system was favorable for removal and diffusion of air pollutants in PRD in summer while highly loading of local industrial emissions tended to deteriorate the air quality as well. NO3^-/SO4^2- ratio indicated that mobile sources have considerably contribution to the urban aerosol, and stationary sources should not be neglected. Besides the primary emissions, complex atmospheric reactions under favorable weather conditions should be paid more attention for the control of primary emission in the PRD region.

The integration and accommodation of the wind and solar energy pose great challenges on today’s power system operation due to the intermittent nature and volatility of the wind and solar *** efficient large-scale electrical energy storage is one of the most effective and economical solutions to those *** the comprehensive review of the existing storage technologies,this paper proposes an overall design scheme for the Non-supplementary Fired Compressed Air Energy Storage(NFCAES)system,including system design,modeling and efficiency assessment,as well as protection and ***,the design principles of the multistage regenerative,*** recovery system which is used to fully recycle and utilize the waste heat from compression are provided,so as the overall system efficiency evaluation *** paper theoretically ascertains the storage decoupling rules in the potential and internal energy of molecular compressed air and reveals the conversion mechanism of gas,heat,power,electricity and other forms of *** this basis,a 500-k W physical simulation system of CAES system(TICC-500,Tsinghua-IPCCAS-CEPRI-CAES)is built,which passed a system-wide 420-k W load power generation test with less pollution and zero carbon ***,the multi-form energy conversion of multi-stage regenerative CAES and storage efficiency is verified,especially its incomparable superiority in solving the uncertainty problem in wind and solar power ***,the propaganda and application scenario of the CAES system in China is introduced.

Characterization of the structural details of residual austenite in the weld metal of a 9Cr1MoNbV welded rotor

The existence of residual austenite in weld metal plays an important role in determining the properties and dimensional accuracy of welded rotors. An effective corrosive agent and the metallographic etching process were developed to clearly reveal the characteristics of residual austenite in the weld metal of a 9Cr1MoNbV welded rotor. Moreover, the details of the distribution, shape, length, length-to-width ratio, and the content of residual austenite were systematically characterized using the Image-Pro Plus image analysis software. The results revealed that the area fraction of residual austenite was approximately 6.3% in the observed weld seam; the average area, length, and length-to-width ratio of dispersed residual austenite were quantitatively evaluated to be （5.5 ± 0.1）μm2, （5.0 ± 0.1）μm, and （2.2 ± 0.1）, re-spectively. The newly developed corrosive agent and etching method offer an appropriate approach to characterize residual austenite in the weld metal of welded rotors in detail.

The experimental study on the contact process of passive walking

The passive dynamic walking is a new concept of biped walking. Researchers have been working on this area with both theoretical analysis and experimental analysis ever since McGeer. This paper presents our compass-like pas- sive walking model with a new set of testing system. Two gyroscopes are used for measuring the angles of two legs, and ten FlexiForce sensors are used for measuring the con- tact forces on the feet. We got the experimental data on the passive walking process with the validated testing system. A great emphasis was put on the contact process between the feet and the slope. The contact process of the stance leg was divided into four sections, and differences between the real testing contact process and the classic analytical contact process with no bouncing and slipping were summarized

Clustering of K-band selected local galaxies

We present a detailed clustering analysis of a large K-band selected local galaxy sample, which is constructed from the 2MASS and the SDSS and consists of 82486 galaxies with 10 〈 K 〈 13.5 and 0.01 〈 z 〈 0.1. The two-point correlation function of the magnitude-limited sample in real space at small scales is well described by the power law ∈（r） = （r/6.44 ± 0.23）^-1.81±0.02. The pairwise velocity dispersion is derived from the anisotropic two-point correlation function and we find the dispersion δ12 = 685 ± 17 kms^-1 if scale invariance is assumed, which is larger than values measured in the optical bands of the selected galaxy samples. We further investigate the dependence of the two-point correlation function and the δ12 on the g- r color and the K- band luminosity, and obtain similar results to previous works in optical bands. Comparing a mock galaxy sample with our real data indicates that the semi-analytical model cannot mimic the δ12 in observation, although it can approximate the two-point correlation function within measurement uncertainties.
