Multi-instance partial-label learning: towards exploiting dual inexact supervision

Weakly supervised machine learning algorithms are able to learn from ambiguous samples or labels, e.g., multi-instance learning or partial-label learning. However, in some real-world tasks, each training sample is associated with not only multiple instances but also a candidate label set that contains one groundtruth label and some false positive labels. Specifically, at least one instance pertains to the ground-truth label while no instance belongs to the false positive labels. In this paper, we formalize such problems as multi-instance partial-label learning(MIPL). Existing multi-instance learning algorithms and partial-label learning algorithms are suboptimal for solving MIPL problems since the former fails to disambiguate a candidate label set, and the latter cannot handle a multi-instance bag. To address these issues, a tailored algorithm named MIPLGP, i.e., multi-instance partial-label learning with Gaussian processes, is *** first assigns each instance with a candidate label set in an augmented label space, then transforms the candidate label set into a logarithmic space to yield the disambiguated and continuous labels via an exclusive disambiguation strategy, and last induces a model based on the Gaussian processes. Experimental results on various datasets validate that MIPLGP is superior to well-established multi-instance learning and partial-label learning algorithms for solving MIPL problems.

Body-force modeling considering induced upstream effects for a transonic compressor with total temperature distortion

To numerically study the impact of total temperature distortion on a transonic compressor with reduced computational costs,a Body-Force Model(BFM)is ***,the interactions between the distorted flow and the compressor are analyzed using full-annulus Unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes(URANS)results and the orbit *** is found that the induced swirl distortion and the mass flux nonuniformity are intensified in the compressor upstream flow field.A correction factor is thus added to the BFM to account for the effect of the induced swirl,which is crucial for the accurate representation of distortion transfer in the ***,steady simulations with large-amplitude 180circumferential total temperature distortion are performed using the developed *** is shown that the distorted compressor map simulated with the BFM matches well with URANS *** circumferential phase shift of total temperature and the generation of the additional total pressure distortion across the rotor are in line with the time-averaged URANS flow *** compressor upstream effects on the distorted inflow can also be exactly *** above-mentioned results demonstrate the BFM developed in this paper can effectively capture the distorted flow features inside the compressor,and significantly reduce the computational costs by five orders of magnitude compared with URANS.

This article focuses on dynamic event-triggered mechanism(DETM)-based model predictive control(MPC) for T-S fuzzy systems.A hybrid dynamic variables-dependent DETM is carefully devised,which includes a multiplicative dynamic variable and an additive dynamic *** addressed DETM-based fuzzy MPC issue is described as a “min-max” optimization problem(OP).To facilitate the co-design of the MPC controller and the weighting matrix of the DETM,an auxiliary OP is proposed based on a new Lyapunov function and a new robust positive invariant(RPI) set that contain the membership functions and the hybrid dynamic variables.A dynamic event-triggered fuzzy MPC algorithm is developed accordingly,whose recursive feasibility is analysed by employing the RPI *** the designed controller,the involved fuzzy system is ensured to be asymptotically *** examples show that the new DETM and DETM-based MPC algorithm have the advantages of reducing resource consumption while yielding the anticipated performance.

Traditional Chinese medicine,such as Tripterygium wilfordii and Paeonia lactiflora,has potential values in treating systemic sclerosis(SSc)and other autoimmune diseases,while their toxic side effect elimination and precise tropical drug delivery are still ***,we present multiple traditional Chinese medicine integrated photoresponsive black phosphorus(BP)microneedles(MNs)with the desired features for the SSc *** employing a template-assisted layer-by-layer curing method,such MNs with triptolide(TP)/paeoniflorin(Pae)needle tips and BP-hydrogel needle bottoms could be well *** combined administration of TP and Pae can not only provide anti-inflammatory,detoxification,and immunomodulatory effects to treat skin lesions in the early stage of SSc but also remarkably reduce the toxicity of single drug ***,the additive BPs possess good biocompatibility and near-infrared(NIR)responsiveness,imparting the MN photothermal-controlled drug release *** on these features,we have demonstrated that the traditional Chinese medicine integrated responsive MNs could effectively improve skin fibrosis and telangiectasia,reduce collagen deposition,and reduce epidermal thickness in the SSc mouse *** results indicated that the proposed Chinese medicine integrated responsive MNs had enormous potential in clinical therapy of SSc and other diseases.

In low-density steel,κ-carbides primarily precipitate in the form of nanoscale particles within austenite ***,their precipitation within ferrite matrix grains has not been comprehensively explored,and the second-phase evolution mechanism during aging remains *** this study,the crystallographic characteristics and morphological evolution ofκ-carbides in Fe-28Mn-10Al-0.8C(wt%)low-density steel at different aging temperatures and times and the impacts of these changes on the steels’microhardness and properties were comprehensively *** different heat treatment conditions,intragranularκ-carbides exhibited various morpho-logical and crystallographic characteristics,such as acicular,spherical,and short rod-like *** the initial stage of aging,acicularκ-carbides primarily precipitated,accompanied by a few spherical carbides.κ-Carbides grew and coarsened with aging time,the spherical carbides were considerably reduced,and rod-like carbides *** hardness testing demonstrated that the material’s hardness was affected by the volume fraction,morphology,and size ofκ-*** aging at higher temperatures led to an increase in carbide size and volume fraction,resulting in a gradual rise in *** deformation,the primary mechanisms for strengthening were dislocation strengthening and second-phase *** on these findings,potential strategies for improving material strength are proposed.

Using data from the regional broadband dense temporary array deployed by the ChinArray project,we applied the three-dimensional(3D)Kirchhoff migration method of the teleseismic P-wave receiver function to investigate discontinuity structures of the mantle transition zone(MTZ)in the central and western parts of the North China Craton(NCC)using a highresolution 3D velocity model of the East Asian *** results show that the 410-km discontinuity beneath the Datong Volcano is depressed by~10 km,indicating the presence of a high-temperature anomaly near the depth of 410 km,which is likely related to small-scale mantle upwelling caused by the dehydration of the stagnant Pacific Plate in the *** upwelling of hot material provides a heat source for surface magmatic *** the Bohai Bay Basin,significant subsidence of the 660-km discontinuity is observed,and the transition zone here is extensively ***’s suggested that the anomalies in this region are related to the stagnation of the Pacific slab in the *** the thickness of the transition zone west of the North-South Gravity Lineament appears normal,we propose that the subducting front of the Pacific slab did not cross the gravity lineament in the *** comparison,the small-scale subsidence of the 660-km discontinuity and the thickening of the MTZ observed north of the Hannuoba Volcano likely indicate that the slab crossed the gravity lineament at its turning point and remained in the ***,a local thickening of the MTZ is observed in the Dabie orogenic belt of the Qinling *** is believed to be a combined effect of lithospheric delamination into the transition zone in the lower Yangtze region and the stagnation of the Pacific Plate.
