We present a new algorithm to compute a geodesic path over a triangle mesh. Based on Novotni＇s propagating wavefront method which is similar to the well known Dijkstra algorithm, we made some improvements which Novotni had missed and we also gave the method to find out the geodesic path which Novotni had not. It can handle both convex and non-convex surfaces or even with boundaries. Experiment results show that our method works very well both in efficiency and precision.

AIM: To investigate the feasibility of a dual-input two-compartment tracer kinetic model for evaluating tumorous microvascular properties in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). METHODS: From January 2014 to April 2015, we prospectively measured and analyzed pharmacokinetic parameters [transfer constant(K_(trans)), plasma flow(F_p), permeability surface area product(PS), efflux rate constant(k_(ep)), extravascular extracellular space volume ratio(V_e), blood plasma volume ratio(V_p), and hepatic perfusion index(HPI)] using dual-input two-compartment tracer kinetic models [a dual-input extended Tofts model and a dual-input 2-compartment exchange model(2CXM)] in 28 consecutive HCC patients. A well-known consensus that HCC is a hypervascular tumor supplied by the hepatic artery and the portal vein was used as a reference standard. A paired Student's t-test and a nonparametric paired Wilcoxon rank sum test were used to compare the equivalent pharmacokinetic parameters derived from the two models, and Pearson correlation analysis was also applied to observe the correlations among all equivalent parameters. The tumor size and pharmacokinetic parameters were tested by Pearson correlation analysis, while correlations among stage, tumor size and all pharmacokinetic parameters were assessed by Spearman correlation analysis. RESULTS: The F_p value was greater than the PS value(F_P = 1.07 m L/m L per minute, PS = 0.19 m L/m L per minute) in the dual-input 2CXM; HPI was 0.66 and 0.63 in the dual-input extended Tofts model and the dualinput 2CXM, respectively. There were no significant differences in the K_(ep), V_p, or HPI between the dual-input extended Tofts model and the dual-input 2CXM(P = 0.524, 0.569, and 0.622, respectively). All equivalent pharmacokinetic parameters, except for V_e, were correlated in the two dual-input two-compartment pharmacokinetic models; both Fp and PS in the dualinput 2CXM were correlated with K_(trans) derived from the dual-input extended Tofts

Image-based Virtual Exhibit and Its Extension to 3D

In this paper we introduce an image-based virtual exhibition system especially for clothing product. It can provide a powerful material substitution function, which is very useful for customization clothing-built. A novel color substitution algorithm and two texture morphing methods are designed to ensure realistic substitution result. To extend it to 3D, we need to do the model reconstruction based on photos. Thus we present an improved method for modeling human body. It deforms a generic model with shape details extracted from pictures to generate a new model. Our method begins with model image generation followed by silhouette extraction and segmentation. Then it builds a mapping between pixels inside every pair of silhouette segments in the model image and in the picture. Our mapping algorithm is based on a slice space representation that conforms to the natural features of human body.

A Controlled Study on Comparing Differences in CT Perfusion Imaging between Rabbits inoculated with VX2 Lung Tumor and Patients with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Lung

OBJECTIVE By analysis and evaluation of the perfusion images and perfusion parameters of the rabbits with VX2 lung tumor, the association between the perfusion parameters and tumor angiogenesis of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the lung has been studied in order to establish a non-invasive and effective way to detect tumor blood supply, which is be able to exhibit hemodynamic data in tumors during cancer treatments. METHODS Fifteen Netherlands rabbits inoculated with VX2 lung tumor （rabbit group） and 25 patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the lung （patient group） received a multi-slice spiral CT perfusion imaging test using the Netherlands PHILIPS Brilliance 16-slice spiral CT and a U.S. MEDRAD binocular highpressure syringe. Image postprocessing was done using the special perfusion software and EBW 4.0 Workstation. Perfusion volume （PV）, peak enhanced increment （PEI）, transit time peak （TTP）, and blood volume （BV） were measured and analyzed. RESULTS In the rabbit group, the values of the PV, PEI, TTP, and BV of the tumor margin were （53.89 ± 13.38） mL/（***）, （45.71 ± 15.52） Hu, （39.29 ± 10.10） sec, and （31.45 ± 18.19） mL/100 g, respectively; these values of the tumor center were （36.57 ± 14.17） mL/（***）, （28.64 ± 11.74） Hu, （39.00 ＋ 9.78） sec, and （19.76 ± 13.95） mL/100 g, respectively; the values of the muscles were （12.45± 4.38） mL/（***）, （10.98 ± 5.03） Hu, （38.86 ± 10.04） sec, and （5.38 ±2.87） mL/100 g, respectively. The values of the relative perfusion volume （RPV）, relative peak enhanced increment （RPEI）, and relative blood volume （RBV） of the tumor margin were 4.38 ± 1.45, 3.96± 1.45, 9.99 ± 11.7, respectively; these values of the tumor center were 2.14 ± 1.08, 1.83±1.45, 4.17 ±3.39, respectively. Eficacy of Electro-acupuncture in Treatment of Functional Constipation: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Functional constipation(FC)is a chronic discasc that significantly afcts the life quality of *** has been used for the treatment of FC for many years,but its effectiveness has not been scientifcally *** present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of electro-acupuncture(EA)in relieving the symptoms,mental states and quality of life(QOL)of FC patients.A total of 96 FC patients were randomly allocated into EA,mosapride&sham EA group(MS)and mosapride control group(MC).In the EA group,patients were treated with 16 sessions of needling at Quchi(LI1I)and Shangjuxu(ST37)bilaterally,5 times a week in the first 2 weeks,and 3 times *** in the last 2 *** the MC group,patients were treated with 5 mg mosapride citrate three times a day for 4 *** the MS group,patients underwent sham EA and the same mosapride citrate treatment as in the MC *** primary outcome was the number of weekly spontaneous bowel movements(SBMs).The secondary outcomes included stool consistency,intensity of defecating difficulty,36-Item Short-Form Health Survey(SF-36),Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS),and the validated Patient Assessment of Constipation-Quality of Life(PAC-QOL).The results showed that as compared with the baseline,EA significantly improved the weekly SBMs,stool consistency and intensity of defecating difficulty(P<0.05).It also partly ameliorated the PAC-QOL,SF-36,SDS and SAS scores when compared with MC or MS group(P<0.05).However,no significant difference was observed between MS and MC groups in bowel function outcomes and QOL *** was concluded that EA could effectivcly improve bowel function,mental states and QOL of FC patients.

Aberrant functional connectivity network in subjective memory complaint individuals relates to pathological biomarkers

Background:Individuals with subjective memory complaints(SMC)feature a higher risk of cognitive decline and clinical progression of Alzheimer’s disease(AD).However,the pathological mechanism underlying SMC remains *** aimed to assess the intrinsic connectivity network and its relationship with AD-related pathologies in SMC ***:We included 44 SMC individuals and 40 normal controls who underwent both resting-state functional MRI and positron emission tomography(PET).Based on graph theory approaches,we detected local and global functional connectivity across the whole brain by using degree centrality(DC)and eigenvector centrality(EC)***,we analyzed amyloid deposition and tauopathy via florbetapir-PET imaging and cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)*** voxel-wise two-sample T-test analysis was used to examine between-group differences in the intrinsic functional network and cerebral amyloid ***,we correlated these network metrics with pathological ***:The SMC individuals showed higher DC in the bilateral hippocampus(HP)and left fusiform gyrus and lower DC in the inferior parietal region than *** all subjects,the DC of the bilateral HP and left fusiform gyrus was positively associated with total tau and phosphorylated ***,no significant between-group difference existed in EC and cerebral amyloid ***:We found impaired local,but not global,intrinsic connectivity networks in SMC *** the relationships between DC value and tau level,we hypothesized that functional changes in SMC individuals might relate to pathological biomarkers.
