The flat dilatometer test （DMT） has the potential to be a useful tool in the evaluation of liquefaction potential of soils. In practice, it is necessary to carefully examine existing DMT-based methods for evaluating liquefaction potential. We con- ducted the DMT and cone penetration test （CPT） in high liquefaction potential areas to examine the existing DMT-based methods for liquefaction potential evaluation. Specifically, the DMT and CPT were conducted side-by-side at each of six in-situ sites, and thus it is feasible to utilize those test results to validate the existing DMT-based methods. The DMT parameter, horizontal stress index （KD）, is used as an indicator for estimating liquefaction resistance of soils in terms of cyclic resistance ratio （CRR）. The analysis results revealed that the existing KD-based liquefaction evaluation methods would overestimate the CRR of soils, which leads to overestimation of the factor of safety against liquefaction. Also, the estimations of DMT-KI~ values by using the CPT-qc as well as the correlation between DMT-KD and CPT-qc proposed by the previous studies would be significantly smaller than field measurements. The results reflected that further validation of the existing DMT-based methods for liquefaction evaluation is desirable.

The increasing global environmental awareness, evidenced by recent worldwide calls for control of climate change and greenhouse emissions, has placed significant new technical mandates for automotives to improve engine efficiency, which is directly related to the production of carbon dioxide, a major greenhouse gas. Reduction of parasitic losses of the vehicle, powertrain and the engine systems is a key component of energy conservation. For engine efficiency improvement, various approaches include improvements in advanced combustion systems, component system design and handling—such as down-sizing, boosting, and electrification—as well as waste heat recovery systems etc. Among these approaches, engine friction reduction is a key and relatively cost-effective approach, which has been receiving significant attention from tribologists and lubricant-lubrication engineers alike. In this paper, the fundamentals of friction specific to the environments of engine components tribology are reviewed, together with discussions on the impact of developing vehicle powertrain technologies, surface and material technologies, as well as lubricant and additive technologies on promises of continuing friction and wear reduction trends. The international accords on climate change require further gains in fuel efficiency and energy sustainability from all industry sectors including those in the automotive and the broader internal combustion engine industries, and the latter encompass off-highway, power generation, marine, and rail industries as well. This paper focsuses on friction reduction in mainly automotive engines, however. The paper starts with a clarification of the common descriptors of mechanical losses and friction in the engine, followed by the topic of lubrication fundamentals such as lubrication regimes. Then the lubrication of the contacting surfaces in each of the major engine subsystems is discussed in turn. These subsystems include the piston assembly: ring-pack/liner,

The Zhanguoce School emerged in 1940 and actively responded to the crisis caused by the Sino-Japanese War. The cultural morphology of Oswald Spengler (1880–1936) inspired most of the leading Zhanguoce scholars to reflect on the culture, history, and status quo of China. They believed that China was suffering from a total war with world superpowers and that it was in a new Warring States epoch; they thus advocated radical cultural reform as a necessary condition for victory and invoked Nietzschean philosophy to champion heroism and power. However, He Lin 賀麟 (1902–92), a philosopher in this school, looked to Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831) and Johann Gottlieb Fichte (1762–1814) for different theories of cultural reform and history. This article examines He’s integration of the philosophies of Hegel and Fichte into his cultural and historical thought. Based on the Hegelian notion of Spirit, He rethought the nature of culture and the relationship between Chinese and Western cultures; he also interpreted history by comparing the historical theories of Hegel and Wang Fuzhi 王夫之 (1619–92). Furthermore, He investigated individual realization with reference to Fichte and repudiated radical heroism.

BACKGROUND Cholangiocarcinoma is a disease with a high mortality *** previous study revealed that cholelithiasis patients who undergo endoscopic sphincterotomy(ES)/endoscopic papillary balloon dilatation are at a higher risk for subsequent cholangiocarcinoma than cholelithiasis patients who undergo *** To clarify the relationship between recurrent biliary events and subsequent cholangiocarcinoma risk in choledocholithiasis *** From one million random cases in the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database 2004–2011,we selected symptomatic choledocholithiasis patients older than 18 years who were admitted from January 2005 to December 2009(study group).Cases for a control group were defined as individuals who had never been diagnosed with cholelithiasis,matched by sex and age in a 1:3 *** study group was further divided into ES/endoscopic papillary balloon dilatation,both ES/endoscopic papillary balloon dilatation and cholecystectomy,and no intervention *** We included 2096 choledocholithiasis patients without previous intervention or cholangiocarcinoma.A total of 12(2.35%),11(0.74%),and 1(1.00%)subsequent cholangiocarcinoma cases were diagnosed among 511 ES/endoscopic papillary balloon dilatation patients,1485 patients with no intervention,and 100 ES/endoscopic papillary balloon dilatation and cholecystectomy patients,*** incidence rates of recurrent biliary event were 527.79/1000 person-years and 286.69/1000 person-years in the subsequent cholangiocarcinoma and no cholangiocarcinoma group,showing a high correlation between subsequent cholangiocarcinoma risk and recurrent biliary *** Choledocholithiasis patients who undergo further cholecystectomy after ES/endoscopic papillary balloon dilatation have decreased subsequent cholangiocarcinoma risk due to reduced recurrent biliary events.

In this paper,we propose a Two-Way Cognitive Relay Network(TWCRN)where the secondary users operate on an underlay mode to access the licensed *** the proposed protocols,two secondary sources transmit their data to a relay in the first time slot,and then the relay would forward the received information to both sources in the remaining ***,the relay is self-powered by harvesting energy from ambient Radio Frequency(RF)signals,using the Time Switching(TS)and the Power Switching(PS)*** paper concentrates on eval-uating the performance of the secondary networks under the impact of hardware impairments and co-channel interference from the primary *** particular,based on the secondary transmitters'constraint power,we derive the closed-form expressions of the outage probability and the throughput over Rayleigh fading channels in two cases:TS and *** also investigate the energy efficiency issue and the locally optimal position of the relay to maximize the system throughput,which provides much information to install the relay ***,our derivations are verified by Monte Carlo simulation.

In the hyperadrenergic state of VT storm where shocks are psychologically and physiologically traumatizing, suppression of sympathetic outflow from the organ level of the heart up to higher braincenters plays a significant role in reducing the propensity for VT recurrence. The autonomic nervous system continuously receives input from the heart （afferent signaling）, integrates them, and sends efferent signals to modify or maintain cardiac function and arrhythmogenesis. Spinal anesthesia with thoracic epidural infusion of bupivicaine and surgical removal of the sympathetic chain including the stellate ganglion has been shown to decrease recurrences of VT. Excess sympathetic outflow with catecholamine release can be modified with catheter-based renal denervation. The insights provided from animal experiments and in patients that are refractory to conventional therapy have significantly improved our working understanding of the heart as an end organ in the autonomic nervous system.

Privacy-Preserving Algorithms for Multiple Sensitive Attributes Satisfying t-Closeness

Although k-anonymity is a good way of publishing microdata for research purposes, it cannot resist severalcommon attacks, such as attribute disclosure and the similarity attack. To resist these attacks, many refinements of k-anonymity have been proposed with t-closeness being one of the strictest privacy models. While most existing t-closenessmodels address the case in which the original data have only one single sensitive attribute, data with multiple sensitiveattributes are more common in practice. In this paper, we cover this gap with two proposed algorithms for multiple sensitiveattributes and make the published data satisfy t-closeness. Based on the observation that the values of the sensitive attributesin any equivalence class must be as spread as possible over the entire data to make the published data satisfy t-closeness,both of the algorithms use different methods to partition records into groups in terms of sensitive attributes. One uses aclustering method, while the other leverages the principal component analysis. Then, according to the similarity of quasi-identifier attributes, records are selected from different groups to construct an equivalence class, which will reduce the lossof information as much as possible during anonymization. Our proposed algorithms are evaluated using a real dataset. Theresults show that the average speed of the first proposed algorithm is slower than that of the second proposed algorithm butthe former can preserve more original information. In addition, compared with related approaches, both proposed algorithmscan achieve stronger protection of privacy and reduce less.

The variation of the I1/I3 ratio of the fluorescence of pyrene in polystyrene-based quaternary ammonium salt (PA) and sodium carboxymethylamylose (NaCMA) aqueous solutions was measured as a function of sodium perfluorooctanoate (SPFO) concentration. Association of the anionic fluorocarbon surfactant with cationic polyelectrolyte (PA) to form mixed micelles occurred at the surfactant concentrations far below its normal critical concentration, while no interaction between SPFO and anionic polyelectrolyte (NaCMA) was detected. The driving force for the formation of mixed micelles of *** PA is electrostatic interactions.
