Background: Laparoscopic hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) located in segment Ⅵ, Ⅶ, or Ⅷ of the liver is usually difficult because of poor operative exposure, due to the unique anatomical structure. In this study, we evaluated the practice of laparoscopic hepatectomy with the left jackknife position for patients with HCC located in segment Ⅵ, Ⅶ, or Ⅷ.Methods: A total of 10 patients were enrolled to undergo laparoscopic hepatectomy with the left jackknife *** located in segment Ⅵ, Ⅶ, or Ⅷ were assessed by preoperative dynamic computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging. AIM:To compare the prognostic ability of inflammation scores for patients with hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)undergoing transarterial chemoembolization(TACE).METHODS:Data of 224 consecutive patients who underwent TACE for unresectable HBV-related HCC from September 2009 to November 2011 were retrieved from a prospective *** association of inflammation scores with clinicopathologic variables and overall survival(OS)were analyzed,and receiver operating characteristic curves were generated,and the area under the curve(AUC)was calculated to evaluate the discriminatory ability of each inflammation score and staging system,including tumor-node-metastasis,Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer,and Cancer of the Liver Italian Program(CLIP)***:The median follow-up period was 390 d,the one-,two-,and three-year OS were 38.4%,18.3%,and 11.1%,respectively,and the median OS was *** Glasgow Prognostic Score(GPS),modifed GPS,neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio,and Prognostic Index were associated with *** GPS consistently had a higher AUC value at 6 mo(0.702),12 mo(0.676),and24 mo(0.687)in comparison with other inflammation *** consistently had a higher AUC value at6 mo(0.656),12 mo(0.711),and 24 mo(0.721)in comparison with tumor-node-metastasis and Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer staging *** analysis revealed that alanine aminotransferase,GPS,and CLIP were independent prognostic factors for *** combination of GPS and CLIP(AUC=0.777)was superior to CLIP or GPS alone in prognostic ability for ***:The prognostic ability of GPS is superior to other inflammation scores for HCC patients undergoing *** GPS and CLIP improved the prognostic power for OS.

Relative positioning is recognized as an important issue for vehicles in urban ***-vehicle Cooperative Positioning(CP)techniques which fuse the Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)and inter-vehicle ranging have attracted attention in improving the performance of baseline estimation between ***,current CP methods estimate the baselines separately and ignore the interactions among the positioning information of different *** interactions are called’information coupling’.In this work,we propose a new multivehicle precise CP framework using the coupled information in the network based on the Carrier Differential GNSS(CDGNSS)and inter-vehicle *** demonstrate the benefit of the coupled information by deriving the Cramer-Rao Lower Bound(CRLB)of the float estimation in *** fully use this coupled information,we propose a Whole-Net CP(WN-CP)method which consists of the Whole-Net Extended Kalman Filter(WN-EKF)as the float estimation filter,and the Partial Baseline Fixing(PBF)as the ambiguity resolution *** WN-EKF fuses the measurements of all baselines simultaneously to improve the performance of float estimation,and the PBF strategy fixes the ambiguities of the one baseline to be estimated,instead of full ambiguity resolution,to reduce the computation load of ambiguity *** tests involving four vehicles were conducted in urban *** results show that the proposed WN-CP method can achieve better performance and meanwhile maintain a low computation load compared to the existing methods.

Serum levels of soluble MHC class I-related chain A (sMICA) are related with the prognosis of various types of cancer; however, few studies on the prognostic value of sMICA in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been reported. In this study, we retrospectively investigated the relationship between sMICA levels and clinical features of advanced HCC, and we assessed the prognostic value of sMICA in advanced HCC. Furthermore, the relationship of serum sMICA levels and natural killer group 2, member D (NKG2D) expression on natural killer (NK) cells was also evaluated. We detected sMICA levels in the serum of 60 advanced HCC patients using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and measured expression levels of NKG2D on NK cells using flow cytometry. We found that serum sMICA levels in HCC patients were in the range of 0.10 -6.21 ng/mL. Chi-square analyses showed that sMICA level was significantly related with only tumor size. Survival analysis showed that a high sMICA level was significantly related with poor prognosis among HCC patients. Multivariate analyses indicated that sMICA was an independent prognostic factor. In addition, the levels of CD56+NKG2D+NK cells were within the range of 11.2%-55.4%, and correlation analyses indicated that sMICA level was negatively correlated with the level of NKG2D+NK cells. Our results suggest that serum sMICA levels may be an independent prognostic factor for advanced HCC.

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA), one of the most advanced loco-regional ablative therapeutic methods, is widely utilized in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Because of its minimal invasiveness and high efficacy, RFA has been regarded as a curative therapy as alternative to surgical resection and liver transplantation. It brings new hope and a new treatment pattern for small HCC. In this article, we summarize the important role of RFA in the treatment of small HCC according to our clinical experience over six years. The prognosis of small HCC after RFA is comparable to that of surgical resection but with higher safety, less complications, wider applicability, and good long-term survival. RFA will play a more and more important role in the clinical treatment of small HCC.

BACKGROUND To report on the use of percutaneous hydrochloric acid(HCl) enhanced radiofrequency ablation(HRFA) for the treatment of large(maximum diameter ≥5 cm) hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) in the caudate *** SUMMARY Between August 2013 and June 2016, three patients with a large HCC(maximum diameter: 5.0, 5.7, and 8.1 cm) in the caudate lobe were treated by transarterial chemoembolization followed by computer tomography(CT) guided RFA using a monopolar perfusion RF electrode, which was enhanced by local infusion of 10%HCl at 0.2 mL/min(total volume, 3 to 12 mL). The output power of HRFA reached 100 W, and the average ablation time was 39 min(range, 15 to 60 min).Two patients each underwent one session of HRFA and one patient two *** treatment, CT/magnetic resonance imaging showed that all the three lesions were completely ablated. There was no major complication. Two patients had asymptomatic bile duct dilatation. One patient died of tongue cancer 24 mo after ablation. The remaining two patients were alive and no area of enhancement is detected in the caudate lobe at 28 and 60 mo after ablation, *** Percutaneous CT-guided HRFA is safe and efficacious in treating large HCC in the caudate lobe.
