High dose chemotherapy with stem cell support in the treatment of testicular cancer

Testicular germ cell cancer(TGCC) is rare form of malignant disease that occurs mostly in young man between age 15 and 40. The worldwide incidence of TGCC is 1.5 per 100000 man with the highest rates in North Europe. After discovery of cisplatin cure rates of TGCC are very favorable between 90%-95% and unlike most solid tumors, cure rate for metastatic TGCC is around 80%. Metastatic TGCC is usually treated with 3-4 cycles of bleomycin, etoposide, cisplatinum chemotherapy with or without retroperitoneal surgery and cure rates with this approach are between 41% in poor risk group and 92% in good risk group of patients. Cure rates are lower in relapsed and refractory patients and many of them will die from the disease if not cured with first line chemotherapy. High dose chemotherapy(HDCT) approach was used for the first time during the 1980 s. Progress in hematology allowed the possibility to keep autologous haematopoietic stem cells alive ex-vivo at very low temperatures and use them to repopulate the bone marrow after sub-lethal dose of intesive myeloablative chemotherapy. Despite the fact that there is no positive randomized study to prove HDCT concept, cure rates in relapsed TGCC are higher after high dose therapy then in historical controls in studies with conventional treatment. Here we review clinical studies in HDCT for TGCC, possibilities of mobilising sufficient number of stem cells and future directions in the treatment of this disease.

Objective To investigate involvement of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor(Ah R)in the immunomodulatory effects of cadmium(Cd).Methods The effect of Cd on Ah R activation(CYP1 A1 and CYP1 B1 m RNA expression)was examined in lung leukocytes of Cd-exposed rats(5 and 50 mg/L,30 d orally)and by in vitro leukocyte *** involvement of Ah R signaling in the effects of Cd on the interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-6,and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)lung leukocyte response was investigated in vitro using the receptor antagonist *** Cd increased CYP1 B1(in vivo and in vitro)and CYP1 A1(in vitro)m RNA,indicating Ah R involvement in the action of *** response to Cd,lung leukocytes increased IL-6 and decreased TNF at the gene expression and protein levels,but decreased IL-1βproduction due to reduced *** Ah R antagonist CH-223191 abrogated the observed effects of Cd on the cytokine *** absence of Ah R reactivity and cytokine response to Cd of leukocytes from the lungs of a rat strain that is less sensitive to Cd toxicity coincided with a high Ah R repressor m RNA *** Ah R signaling is involved in the lung leukocyte proinflammatory cytokine response to *** relevance of the Ah R to the cytokine response to Cd provides new insight into the mechanisms of Cd immunotoxicity.

Determination of Differences in Motor Dimensions between Judo and Karate Athletes

The research was conducted in order to determine specificity of motor dimensions of judo and karate athletes and their differences. In order to determine the specificity of the structure of the tested anthropological dimensions, the researchers examined 200 judo and karate athletes, members ofjudo and karate clubs of Serbia （about 100 judokas and about 100 karatekas）, aged 18 to 27 years. To assess motor abilities, the researchers used 16 motor tests selected according to the structural model, defined as a mechanism for movement structuring, mechanism for functional synergies and tonus regulation, mechanism for excitation intensity regulation, and a mechanism for excitation duration regulation. All the data in this research were processed at the Multidisciplinary Research Center, Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Pristina, through the system of data processing software programs developed by popovic. The algorithms and programs realized in the research are fully presented, and the results of the programs are analyzed.

The research was conducted in order to determine influence of conative characteristics on the criterion variables in Special Olympics athletes and partners in football. For this purpose, 80 athletes and partners engaged in football were tested. For the assessment of conative characteristics, the measurement instrument CON6 was selected by which the following conative regulators were evaluated： activity regulator, organ function regulator, defense reaction regulator, attack reaction regulator, system for coordination of regulatory functions, system for integration of regulatory functions, and system for excitation and inhibition. To assess success in a football game, the following variables were used： evaluation of the effectiveness of the techniques, evaluation of the performance effectiveness in the offensive phase, evaluation of the performance effectiveness in the defensive phase, evaluation of individual creativity during the game, team responsibility evaluation, engagement evaluation, behavior evaluation, general evaluation of success in the game. All the data in this research were analyzed at the Multidisciplinary Research Center, Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Pristina, by the system of data processing programs DRSOFT developed by D. Popovi~ and K. Momirovi~. The algorithms and programs implemented within this thesis have been fully presented and the results of the programs have been analyzed.

Dear editor,Foreign body ingestion and food bolus impaction are frequent emergency cases in clinical practice.[1] The majority of foreign body ingestion cases occur in the pediatric population, while individuals with mental illness,neurodevelopmental disorders, alcohol intoxication, and prisoners are recognized as a high-risk adult population for foreign body ingestion.

The research was conducted in order to determine differences in the social status structure of male and female performers of folk dances. For the purpose of determining the social status structure of male and female dancers, 103 male and 145 female dancers aged 18-28 actively engaged in folk dancing were tested. For the assessment of social status, only one model that allows for true scientific approach to studying the structure of stratification dimensions has been made so far. The model was constructed by Saksida and later served as a basis for many studies conducted by other authors as well （Saksida, Caserman, Petrovic, Momirovic, and Hosek）. Designed as a phenomenological model, it has undergone several changes over time, but it is still suitable for studying social change. The INST2 questionnaire modified by Boli, popovic, Hosek, Momirovic, and Savic （SSMIN） was applied in this study. All the data obtained in this research were processed at the Multidisciplinary Research Center of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Pristina, through the system of data processing programs designed by D. popovic and K Momirovic. To determine differences between the groups, a method of discriminant analysis was applied.
