Roles of species-preferential seed dispersal by ants and endozoochory in Melampyrum(Orobanchaceae)

Design of process parameters for direct squeeze casting

On the basis of the analysis of solidification interval and temperature distribution of components manufactured by the squeeze casting method, formulas for calculating the solidification interval and compaction pressure were deduced according to the principal request that the compaction pressure should be equal to or greater than the plastic deformation resistance of the forming component when solidification ended. The solidification interval was proven to be associated with many factors, such as weight of the component, specific heat of the alloy, latent heat, pouring temperature, component temperature at the end of solidification and heat-transfer coefficients. The compaction pressure was related to the strain rate, deformation temperature, and dimension of the de- forming component. The solidification interval and compaction pressure calculated by the formulas deduced in this article were adopted in the production of 45 steel bidirectional chapiter valves, and components with excellent oerformance were manufactured.

Global Existence of Large DataWeak Solutions for a Simplified Compressible Oldroyd–B Model Without Stress Diffusion

We start with the compressible Oldroyd–B model derived in[2](***,***,and ***,Existence of large-data finite-energy global weak solutions to a compressible Oldroyd–B model,***.,15(2017),1265–1323),where the existence of global-in-time finite-energy weak solutions was shown in two dimensional setting with stress *** the paper,we investigate the case without stress *** first restrict ourselves to the corotational setting as in[28](***,and ***,Global solutions for some Oldroyd models of non-Newtonian flows,***.,Ser.B,21(2)(2000),131–146)We further assume the extra stress tensor is a scalar matrix and we derive a simplified model which takes a similar form as the multi-component compressible Navier–Stokes equations,where,however,the pressure term related to the scalar extra stress tensor has the opposite *** employing the techniques developed in[30,35],we can still prove the global-in-time existence of finite energy weak solutions in two or three dimensions,without the presence of stress diffusion.

Pancreatic schwannoma is a very uncommon tumor of the pancreas,with only 27 cases *** pancreatic schwannomas are benign,with only four malignant tumors *** describe a case of giant malignant schwannoma of the pancreatic body and tail,which involved the transverse *** tumor was treated successfully with en bloc distal splenopancreatectomy and colon *** is believed to be the first reported radical operation for malignant schwannoma of the pancreatic body,with infiltration of the transverse colon,with excellent longterm *** patient is alive and well 28 mo after the *** authors conclude that pancreatic schwannomas should be considered in the differential diagnosis of cystic neoplasms of the pancreas,although the diagnosis can only be confirmed by microscopic *** the case of the benign tumors,local excision is adequate,but in the case of malignant schwannoma,oncological standards must be fulfilled.

Reworked detrital sediments were discovered in the syn-rift to post-rift Cretaceous to Quaternary(Pleistocene)detrital deposits of the Douala coastal sub-basin in the eastern margin of the South Atlantic Ocean at West *** contribution presents the geochemical,mineralogical,and sedimentological data to constrain the origin of these reworked *** investigated samples are characterized by the high values of Plagioclase Index of Alteration(PIA,97.83–99.90),Chemical Index of Alteration(CIA,71.9–99.08),and Chemical Index of Weathering(CIW,98.67–99.90).Data gleaned from these indices suggest that the reworked sediments and their potential source rocks experienced severe *** A-CN-K plot along with the mineralogical indicates a probably post-depositional *** high light rare earth elements(LREE)/heavy rare earth elements(HREE)ratios(15.82–79.13)suggest that the reworked were mainly derived from felsic igneous *** interpretation is further confirmed by the Zr versus TiO2,TiO2/Al2O3,Th/Co versus La/Sc,and La/Th versus Th/Yb plots,which indicate felsic igneous and silicic source ***,the high variability of LREE/HREE ratios(15.82–79.13)and the positive Eu anomalies(1.10–1.32)of studied samples could indicate a little contribution of mafic source *** of the distribution of the heavy minerals(***,aluminum silicate,and rutile)revealed that these felsic and silicic source rocks are mainly granite and gneiss,probably belonging to the Nyong Group and the Western part of the Neoproterozoic Yaounde *** morphoscopic analyses of the host rocks(very angular to angular shapes)have revealed that the reworked sediments have proximal to subproximal onshore origins,probably from former sedimentary deposits,as is indicated by variation of their *** tectonic discriminant diagram indicates the Oceanic Island Arc and Active Continental Margin which are inconsistent with the geological history of the Doual

Bamboo is an eco-friendly material with light weight,high strength,short growth cycle and high sustainability,which is widely used in building *** bamboo has further promoted the development of modern bamboo structures due to its unrestricted size and ***,as a fiber-reinforced material,fracture damage,especially Mode I fracture damage,becomes the most likely damage mode of its structure,so Mode I fracture characteristics are an important subject in the research of mechanical properties of *** paper summarizes the current status of experimental research on the Mode I fracture properties of bamboo based on the three-point bending(TPB)method,the single-edge notched beam(SENB)method,the compact tension(CT)method and the double cantilever beam(DCB)method,compares the fracture toughness of different species of bamboo,analyzes the toughening mechanisms and fracture damage modes,discusses the applicability of different theoretical calculation methods,and makes suggestions for future research priorities,aiming to provide a reference for future research and engineering applications in related fields.

High power laser powder deposition (LPD) has been used to investigate the potential of repairing damaged aero-grade high strength *** analysis was performed to analyze the integrity of the clad layer.A 4kW fiber laser was used to deposit two separate alloys (AISI 4340 and AISI 420 stainless steel) on an AISI 4340 steel substrate and metallurgical analysis was performed to analyze the integrity of the clad *** microcracks was observed on the clads,but porosity and high dilution was observed on most ***,microstructural analysis showed a crack and porosity free clad layer with low dilution can be achieved for some laser conditions.

Chronic otitis media and subsequent hearing loss in children from the Himalayan region residing in Buddhist Monastic schools of Nepal

Objectives:The main objective of the study was to ascertain the prevalence of chronic otitis media and determine the corresponding hearing loss in children from Nepal’s Himalayan region now residing in Buddhist Monastic schools of ***:The study was conducted among children at Buddhist monastic school in different parts of Nepal.A total of 3174 children aged between 5 and 15 years,who were originally from the Himalayan region of Nepal and were currently residing in monastic schools,were screened for ear problems and hearing *** were examined by otoscope to diagnose chronic otitis *** was evaluated by pure tone audiometer,and 0.5e4 kHz air conduction hearing threshold was measured and ***:Of the total of 3174 children who were screened for ear diseases and hearing loss,monks constituted 76.21%(n?2419)and Nuns 23.78%(n?755).Chronic otitis media was the most common otoscopic finding during the screening,and it affected a total of 344(10.83%)*** of these 344,hearing loss of varying degrees was observed in 5.42%(n?172)***:There is high prevalence of chronic otitis media in children belonging to the Himalayan region of Nepal,and it is the main cause of avoidable hearing *** diagnosis and treatment of chronic otitis media could prevent unnecessary hearing loss in these children.
