Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)are excellent electrochemical energy sources,albeit with existing challenges,including high costs and safety ***-ion batteries(MIBs)are one of the potential ***,the performance of MIBs is poor due to their sluggish solid-state Mg^(2+) diffusion kinetics and severe electrode *** magnesium-ion/lithium-ion(Mg^(2+)/Li^(+))hybrid batteries(MLHBs)with Mg^(2+) and Li+as the charge carriers create a synergy between LIBs and MIBs with significantly improved charge transport kinetics and reliable safety ***,MLHBs are yet to reach a reasonable electrochemical performance as *** work reports a composite electrode material with highly defective two-dimensional(2d)tin sulphide nanosheets(SnS_(x))encapsulated in three-dimensional(3d)holey graphene foams(HGF)(SnS_(x)/HGF),which exhibits a specific capacity as high as 600 mAh g^(−1) at 50 mA g^(−1) and a compelling specific energy density of~330 Wh kg^(−1).The excellent electrochemical performance surpasses previously reported hybrid battery systems based on intercalation-type cathode materials under comparable *** role played by the defects in the SnS_(x)/HGF composite is studied to understand the origin of the observed excellent electrochemical *** is found that it is closely related to the defect structure in SnS_(x),which offers percolation pathways for efficient ion transport and increased internal surface area assessable to the charge *** defective sites also absorb structural stress caused by Mg^(2+) and Li+*** work is an important step towards realizing high-capacity cathode materials with fast charge transport kinetics for hybrid batteries.

Global competition and diffusion of the "A" list

Focusing on the global diffusion of the "A" list consisting of predominantly USbased joum a Is, we argue that such diffusi on represents an important form of professionalization in the management of business schools. The diffusion can also be viewed as an intellectual movement in the age of global competition characterized by a flat world. How can we explain the recent diffusion of the WAW list? More important, how does such diffusion impact the future of business and management scholarship? Addressing these important but underexplored questions, I identify the multilevel factors that explain the diffusion, and predict its likely trajectory and its impact on future scholarship.

Interpersonal Climate Change Communication in Florida Using Quantile Regression

Climate change is described as a potentially catastrophic phenomenon with the capacity to disrupt agricultural production, economies, health systems, education, and infrastructure, among other systems. In Florida, climate change is a concern because of the state’s extensive coastline and its influence on the economy, as well as residents’ safety and well-being. As early as 2007, researchers forecasted that vulnerable wetlands, mangroves, fisheries, and coastal infrastructure in Florida may be significantly damaged or destroyed by 2060. Climate change communication (CCC) is described as a complex problem that requires several layers of attention, especially in achieving the desired outcome of behavior change. Previous research suggested that climate change communicators would be more effective if they understood their audiences and their communication capacities. The purpose of the study was to determine the impact of demographic factors on social communication for residents of Florida. A survey was used to collect the data through an address-based sampling (ABS) method, where a total of 318 usable responses were received from Florida residence 18 years or older. A latent construct for describing social communication (Social Communication Index [SCI]) was created as the dependent variable and was tested against eight variables using a quantile regression approach. Using quantiles in 0.1 intervals, the results showed that knowledge, age, income, newspaper use, urbanicity, and race affected the SCI in one or more quantiles. Social media, sex, and religiosity were insignificant throughout all quantiles. While most of the results align with previous research, there is the need for further probing into social communication on climate change to ensure that audience segments are provided with climate change information through the channels they primarily use.

Cultivation of halophilic archaea(class Halobacteria)from thalassohaline and athalassohaline environments

As a group,the halophilic archaea(class Halobacteria)are the most salt-requiring and salt-resistant microorganisms within the domain *** archaea flourish in thalassohaline and athalassohaline environments and require over 100–150 g/L NaCl for growth and structural *** hypersaline environments vary in salt concentration,chemical composition and pH,and occur in climates ranging from tropical to polar and even ***,their resident haloarchaeal species vary enormously,as do their individual population compositions and community *** diverse halophilic archaeal strains are precious resources for theoretical and applied research but assessing their taxonomic and metabolic novelty and diversity in natural environments has been technically difficult up until *** dNA-based high-throughput sequencing technology has now matured sufficiently to allow inexpensive recovery of massive amounts of sequence data,revealing the distribution and community composition of halophilic archaea in different hypersaline *** cultivation of haloarchaea is slow and tedious,and only recovers a fraction of the natural diversity,it is the conventional means of describing new species,and provides strains for detailed *** of the end of May 2020,the class Halobacteria contains 71 genera and 275 species,49.8%of which were first isolated from the marine salt environment and 50.2%from the inland salt environment,indicating that both thalassohaline and athalassohaline environments contain diverse halophilic ***,there remain taxa that have not yet been isolated in pure culture,such as the nanohaloarchaea,which are widespread in the salt environment and may be one of the hot spots in the field of halophilic archaea research in the *** this review,we focus on the cultivation strategies that have been used to isolate extremely halophilic archaea and point out some of the pitfalls and challenges.

Nonlinear roll damping of a barge with and without liquid cargo in spherical tanks

damping plays a significant role on the maximum amplitude of a vessel’s roll motion,in particular near the resonant *** is a common practice to predict roll damping using a linear radiation-diffraction code and add that to a linearized viscous damping component,which can be obtained through empirical,semi-empirical equations or free decay tests in calm ***,it is evident that the viscous roll damping is nonlinear with roll velocity and *** liquid cargo motions inside cargo tanks also contribute to roll damping,which when ignored impedes the accurate prediction of maximum roll *** this study,a series of free decay model tests is conducted on a barge-like vessel with two spherical tanks,which allows a better understanding of the nonlinear roll damping components considering the effects of the liquid cargo *** examine the effects of the cargo motion on the damping levels,a nonlinear model is adopted to calculate the damping *** liquid cargo motion is observed to affect both the linear and the quadratic components of the roll *** flow memory effect on the roll damping is also *** nonlinear damping coefficients of the vessel with liquid cargo motions in spherical tanks are obtained,which are expected to contribute in configurations involving spherical tanks.

Gesture recognition for transhumeral prosthesis control using EMG and NIR

A key challenge associated with myoelectric prosthesis limbs is the acquisition of a good quality gesture intent signal from the residual anatomy of an *** this study,the authors aim to overcome this limitation by observing the classification accuracy of the fusion of wearable electromyography(EMG)and near-infrared(NIR)to classify eight hand gesture motions across 12 able-bodied *** part of the study,they investigate the classification accuracy across a multi-layer perceptron neural network,linear discriminant analysis and quadratic discriminant analysis for different sensing configurations,***-only,NIR-only and EMG-NIR.A separate offline ultrasound scan was conducted as part of the study and served as a ground truth and contrastive basis for the results picked up from the wearable sensors,and allowed for a closer study of the anatomy along the humerus during gesture *** and findings from the work suggest that it could be possible to further develop transhumeral prosthesis using affordable,ergonomic and wearable EMG and NIR sensing,without the need for invasive neuromuscular sensors or further hardware complexity.

China＇s Sponge City construction： A discussion on technical approaches

Since 2014, China has been implementing the Sponge City Construction initiative, which represents an enormous and unprecedented effort by any government in the world for achieving urban sustainability. According to preliminary estimates, the total investment on the Sponge City Plan is roughly 100 to 150 million Yuan （RMB）（$15 to $22.5 million） average per square kilometer or 10 Trillion Yuan （RMB）（$1.5 Trillion） for the 657 cities nationwide. The Sponge City Plan （SCP） calls for the use of natural processes such as soil and vegetation as part of the urban runoff control strategy, which is similar to that of low impact development （LId） and green infrastructure （G1） practices being promoted in many parts of the world. The SCP includes as its goals not only effective urban flood control, but also rainwater harvest, water quality improvement and ecological restoration. So far, the SCP implementation has encountered-some barriers and challenges due to many factors. The present paper presents a review of those barriers and challenges, oftizrs discussions and recommendations on several technical aspects such as control goals and objectives; planning/design and construction of LId/GI practices; performance evaluation. Several key recommendations are proposed on Sponge City implementation strategy, Site-specific regulatory fi＇amework and technical gmdance, Product innovation and certification, LId/GI Project financing, LId/G1 profcssional training and certification, public outreach and education. It is expected that the successful implemen!atiun of the. SCP not only will bring about a sustainable, eco-friendly urbanization process in China, but also contribute enormously to the LId/Gl research and development with the vast amount of relevant data and experiences generated from the Sponge City construction projects.

Biofilm structure and its influence on clogging in drip irrigation emitters distributing reclaimed wastewater

Using reclaimed wastewater for crop irrigation is a practical alternative to discharge wastewater treatment plant effluents into surface ***,biofouling has been identified as a major contributor to emitter clogging in drip irrigation systems distributing reclaimed *** is known about the biofilm structure and its influence on clogging in the drip emitter flow *** study was first to investigate the microbial characteristics of mature biofilms present in the emitters and the effect of flow path structures on the biofilm microbial *** analysis of biofilm matrix structure using a scanning electron microscopy（SEM） revealed that particles in the matrix of the biofilm coupled extracellular polysaccharides（EPS） and formed sediment in the emitter flow *** of biofilm mass including protein,polysaccharide,and phospholipid fatty acids（PLFAs） showed that emitter flow path style influenced biofilm community structure and *** correlations of biofilm biomass and discharge reduction after 360 h irrigation were computed and suggest that PFLAs provide the best correlation ***,the emitter with the unsymmetrical dentate structure and shorter flow path（Emitter C） had the best anti-clogging *** optimizing the dentate structure,the internal flow pattern within the flow path could be enhanced as an important method to control the biofilm within emitter flow *** study established electron microscope techniques and biochemical microbial analysis methods that may provide a framework for future emitter biofilm studies.
