Protective effect of naringenin on acetic acid-induced ulcerative colitis in rats

Differential advantages of musical backgrounds on binaural integration and interaction skills in instrumentalists,vocalists,and non-musicians

Background:Musical perception requires a host of *** musicians place greater emphasis on motor coordination,whereas vocal musicians rehearse vocal *** study explored the differential advantages of musical background on binaural integration and interaction in musicians(instrumentalists,vocalists)and compared them with age-matched ***:Eight six participants aged 20e40 y with normal hearing sensitivity were subjected to binaural tests using a standard group comparison research *** participants were segregated into three groups e Group 1 included instrumentalists(n?26,mean age:17.73±2.83 y),while Group 2 and Group 3 consisted of vocalists(n?30,mean age:19.30±2.47 y)and non-musicians(n?30,mean age:18.20±3.02 y)*** binaural processes namely integration(Dichotic syllable test,DST;and virtual acoustic space identification-VASI)and interaction(Interaural difference thresholds for time and level:ITD&ILD),were administered on all the ***:Statistical analyses showed the main effect of *** pair-wise test revealed that the musicians(instrumentalists and vocalists)outperformed(p0.05).Conclusion:Musical background-induced differential advantages can be reasonably noted in the binaural skills of instrumentalists and vocalists(compared to non-musicians).

BACKGROUND Per-oral endoscopic myotomy(POEM)is safe and effective for the treatment of *** is limited data on performance of POEM in patients with altered upper gastrointestinal anatomy,especially after bariatric *** in patients with prior sleeve gastrectomy have not been *** To assess the efficacy and safety of POEM in patients with prior bariatric *** A prospective POEM database was reviewed from 3/2017-5/2020 to identify patients who underwent POEM after prior bariatric *** was assessed by technical success(defined as the ability to successfully complete the procedure)and clinical success[decrease in Eckardt score(ES)to≤3 post procedure].Safety was evaluated by recording adverse *** Six patients(50%male,mean age 48 years)with a history of prior bariatric surgery who underwent POEM were *** had prior sleeve gastrectomy(SG)and three prior Roux-en-y gastric bypass(RyGB).Four patients had achalasia subtype II and 2 had type ***(4)patients had undergone previous achalasia *** success was 100%.Clinical success was achieved in 4(67%)patients at mean follow-up of 21 *** one of the clinical failures,EndoFLIP evaluation demonstrated adequate treatment and candida esophagitis was noted as the likely cause of *** were no major adverse *** POEM is technically feasible after both RyGB and SG and offers an effective treatment for this rare group of patients where surgical options for achalasia are limited.
