Background:Recognizing sport-related concussion(SRC)is challenging and relies heavily on subjective symptom *** objective,biological marker could improve recognition and understanding of *** is emerging evidence that salivary micro-ribonucleic acids(miRNAs)may serve as biomarkers of concussion;however,it remains unclear whether concussion-related miRNAs are impacted by *** sought to determine whether40 miRNAs previously implicated in concussion pathophysiology were affected by participation in a variety of contact and non-contact *** goal was to refine a miRNA-based tool capable of identifying athletes with SRC without the confounding effects of ***:This case-control study harmonized data from concussed and non-concussed athletes recruited across 10 *** of salivary miRNAs within 455 samples from 314 individuals were measured with RNA ***-subjects testing was used to identify and exclude miRNAs that changed with either(a)a single episode of exercise(166 samples from 83 individuals)or(b)season-long participation in contact sports(212 samples from 106 individuals).The miRNAs that were not impacted by exercise were interrogated for SRC diagnostic utility using logistic regression(172 samples from 75 concussed and 97 non-concussed individuals).Results:Two miRNAs(miR-532-5p and miR-182-5p)decreased(adjusted pmiRNA(miR-4510)increased only after contact sports ***-three miRNAs changed at the end of a contact sports *** of these miRNAs(miR-26b-3p and miR-29c-3p)were associated(R>0.50;adjusted pmber of head impacts sustained in a single football *** the 15 miRNAs not confounded by exercise or season-long contact sports participation,11 demonstrated a significant difference(adjusted pmoderate ability(area under curve>0.70)to identify concussion.A

A new look at auranofin,dextromethorphan and rosiglitazone for reduction of glia-mediated inflammation in neurodegenerative diseases

Neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer＇s disease are characterized by chronic in- flammation in the central nervous system. The two main glial types involved in inflammatory reactions are microglia and astrocytes. While these cells normally protect neurons by providing nutrients and growth factors, disease specific stimuli can induce glial secretion of neurotoxins. It has been hypothesized that reducing glia-mediated inflammation could diminish neuronal loss. This hypothesis is supported by observations that chronic use of non-steroidal anti-inflamma- tory drugs （NSAIDs） is linked with lower incidences of neurodegenerative disease. It is possible that the NSAIDs are not potent enough to appreciably reduce chronic neuroinflammation after disease processes are fully established. Gold thiol compounds, including auranofin, comprise an- other class of medications effective at reducing peripheral inflammation. We have demonstrated that auranofin inhibits human microglia- and astrocyte-mediated neurotoxicity. Other drugs which are currently used to treat peripheral inflammatory conditions could be helpful in neu- rodegenerative disease. Three different classes of anti-inflammatory compounds, which have a potential to inhibit neuroinflammation are highlighted below.

As photovoltaic energy increasingly penetrates in power systems,transmission system operators have started to request its participation in providing ancillary *** of the demanded services is the power ramp-rate control(PRRC),which attempts to limit the power ramps produced by intermittent irradiance *** order to achieve the desired objective,solutions based on storage systems or modifying the maximum power point tracking(mPPT)in perturb and observe(P&O)algorithms are commonly *** starting point in PRRC is the determination of the instantaneous power ramprate,and different methods have been proposed in the literature for its ***,the accuracy and computational speed of existing procedures can be improved,which may be critical in situations with rapid irradiance *** this paper,a decoupled photovoltaic power ramp-rate calculation method is presented,in which the effect of variable irradiance and the P&O algorithm are computed *** proposed method has been theoretically demonstrated and tested through simulation and experimental *** results show that it can improve the previous methods in terms of accuracy and computation *** validation with hardware-inthe-loop demonstrates the suitability of the proposed method for real-time applications,even in presence of noisy measurements.

This paper analyses robotic signals in the perspective of fractional dynamics and the pseudo phase plane （PPP）.It is shown that the spectra of several experimental signals can be approximated by trend lines whose slope characterizes their fractional *** the PPP reconstruction of each signal,the time lags are calculated through the fractal ***,to obtain a smooth PPP,the noisy signals are filtered through *** behavior of the spectra reveals a relationship with the fractal dimension of the PPP and the corresponding time delay.

Deficit Irrigation as a Strategy to Save Water:Physiology and Potential Application to Horticulture

Water is an increasingly scarce resource worldwide and irrigated agriculture remains one of the largest and most inefficient users of this resource. Low water use efficiency （WUE） together with an increased competition for water resources with other sectors （e.g. tourism or industry） are forcing growers to adopt new irrigation and cultivation practices that use water more judiciously. In areas with dry and hot climates, drip irrigation and protected cultivation have improved WUE mainly by reducing runoff and evapotranspiration losses. However, complementary approaches are still needed to increase WUE in irrigated agriculture. Deficit irrigation strategies like regulated deficit irrigation or partial root drying have emerged as potential ways to increase water savings in agriculture by allowing crops to withstand mild water stress with no or only marginal decreases of yield and quality. Grapevine and several fruit tree crops seem to be well adapted to deficit irrigation, but other crops like vegetables tend not to cope so well due to losses in yield and quality. This paper aims at providing an overview of the physiological basis of deficit irrigation strategies and their potential for horticulture by describing the major consequences of their use to vegetative growth, yield and quality of different crops （fruits, vegetables and ornamentals）.

Using BlazePose on Spatial Temporal Graph Convolutional Networks for Action Recognition

The ever-growing available visual data(i.e.,uploaded videos and pictures by internet users)has attracted the research community’s attention in the computer vision ***,finding efficient solutions to extract knowledge from these sources is ***,the BlazePose system has been released for skeleton extraction from images oriented to mobile *** this skeleton graph representation in place,a Spatial-Temporal Graph Convolutional Network can be implemented to predict the *** hypothesize that just by changing the skeleton input data for a different set of joints that offers more information about the action of interest,it is possible to increase the performance of the Spatial-Temporal Graph Convolutional Network for HAR ***,in this study,we present the first implementation of the BlazePose skeleton topology upon this architecture for action ***,we propose the Enhanced-BlazePose topology that can achieve better results than its ***,we propose different skeleton detection thresholds that can improve the accuracy performance even *** reached a top-1 accuracy performance of 40.1%on the Kinetics *** the NTU-RGB+D dataset,we achieved 87.59%and 92.1%accuracy for Cross-Subject and Cross-View evaluation criteria,respectively.

Conductivity of the phloem in mango (mangifera indica L.)

mango(mangifera indica L.,Anacardiaceae),the fifth most consumed fruit worldwide,is one of the most important fruit crops in tropical regions,but its vascular anatomy is quite *** studies examined the xylem structure in the stems of mango,but the anatomy of the phloem has remained elusive,leaving the long-distance transport of photoassimilates *** combined fluorescence and electron microscopy to evaluate the structure of the phloem tissue in the tapering branches of mango trees,and used this information to describe the hydraulic conductivity of its sieve tube elements following current models of fluid transport in *** revealed that the anatomy of the phloem changes from current year branches,where it was protected by pericyclic fibres,to older ones,where the lack of fibres was concomitant with laticiferous canals embedded in the phloem *** was present in the sieve plates,but also in the walls of the phloem sieve cells,making them discernible from other phloem cells.A scaling geometry of the sieve tube elements-including the number of sieve areas and the pore size across tapering branches-resulted in an exponential conductivity towards the base of the *** evaluations in mangofit with previous measurements of the phloem architecture in the stems of forest trees,suggesting that,despite agronomic management,the phloem sieve cells scale with the tapering *** pipe model theory applied to the continuous tubing system of the phloem appears as a good approach to understand the hydraulic transport of photoassimilates in fruit trees.
