During the first wave of the pandemic,coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)infection has been considered mainly as a pulmonary ***,different clinical and radiological manifestations were observed over time,including involvement of abdominal ***,the liver is considered one of the main affected abdominal *** involvement may be caused by either a direct damage by the virus or an indirect damage related to COVID-19 induced thrombosis or to the use of different *** clinical assessment,radiology plays a key role in the evaluation of liver ***(US),computed tomography(CT)and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)may be used to evaluate liver *** is widely available and it is considered the first-line technique to assess liver involvement in COVID-19 infection,in particular liver steatosis and portal-vein *** and MRI are used as second-and third-line techniques,respectively,considering their higher sensitivity and specificity compared to US for assessment of both parenchyma and *** review aims to the spectrum of COVID-19 liver involvement and the most common imaging features of COVID-19 liver damage.

Big data is a concept that deals with large or complex data sets by using data analysis tools(e.g.,data mining,machine learning)to analyze information extracted from several sources *** data has attracted wide attention from academia,for example,in supporting patients and health professionals by improving the accuracy of decision-making,diagnosis and disease *** research aimed to perform a Bibliometric Performance and Network Analysis(BPNA)supported by a Scoping Review(SR)to depict the strategic themes,thematic evolution structure,main challenges and opportunities related to the concept of big data applied in the healthcare *** this goal in mind,4857 documents from the Web of Science covering the period between 2009 to June 2020 were analyzed with the support of SciMAT *** bibliometric performance showed the number of publications and citations over time,scientific productivity and the geographic distribution of publications and research *** strategic diagram yielded 20 clusters and their relative importance in terms of centrality and *** thematic evolution structure presented the most important themes and how it changes over ***,we presented the main challenges and future opportunities of big data in healthcare.

Simplified Wave Models Applicability to Shallow Mud Flows Modeled as Power-Law Fluids

China between Economic Growth and Mass Immigration

In order to continue along its path of sustained economic growth, China will need, probably in just a few years, certainly after 2030, an extremely high number of immigrants. This conclusion, which contrasts with a recent World Bank scenario suggesting that the decline in labor supply due to demographic trends can be faced with sustained growth in productivity, is based upon a demand-driven model of migration. Moreover, according to the same model, the decline infertility （and the one ehild policy that has been partially responsible for it） will end up provoking immigration flows above replacement level. The working age population and the total population will continue to increase, and China will remain the most populous country on the planet. The last part of the paper surveys the policies that China could adopt to reduce its structural need for foreign labor.

Physical and chemical processes promoting dominance of the toxic cyanobacterium Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii

The freshwater cyanobacterium, Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii (Wo?oszyńska) Seenayya and Subba Raju is a common species in lakes and reservoirs globally. In some areas of the world it can produce cyto- and hepatotoxins (cylindrospermopsins, saxitoxins), making blooms of this species a serious health concern for humans. In the last 10-15 years, there has been a considerable body of research conducted on the ecology, physiology and toxin production of this species and this paper reviews these studies with a focus on the cylindrospermopsin (CYN)-producing strains. C. raciborskii has low light requirements, close to neutral buoyancy, and a wide temperature tolerance, giving it the capacity to grow in many lentic waterbodies. It also has a flexible strategy with respect to nitrogen (N) utilisation; being able to switch between utilising fixed and atmospheric N as sources of N fluctuate. Additionally this species has a high phosphate (DIP) affinity and storage capacity. Like many cyanobacteria, it also has the capacity to use dissolved organic phosphorus (DOP). Changes in nutrient concentrations, light levels and temperature have also been found to affect production of the toxin CYN by this species. However, optimal toxin production does not necessarily occur when growth rates are optimal. Additionally, different strains of C. raciborskii vary in their cell quota of CYN, making it difficult to predict toxin concentrations, based on C. raciborskii cell densities. In summary, the ecological flexibility of this organism means that controlling blooms of C. raciborskii is a difficult undertaking. However, improved understanding of factors promoting the species and toxin production by genetically capable strains will lead to improved predictive models of blooms.

The clinical utility of other emerging therapies such as transarterial chemoembolization,hepatic arterial chemoinfusion and high intensity intraductal ultrasound needs further study.

Displacement Trends of Slow-moving Landslides: Classification and Forecasting

A framework is proposed to characterize and forecast the displacement trends of slow-moving landslides, defined as the reactivation stage of phenomena in rocks or fine-grained soils, with movements localized along one or several existing shear surfaces. The framework is developed based on a thorough analysis of the scientific literature and with reference to significant reported case studies for which a consistent dataset of continuous displacement measurements is available. Three distinct trends of movement are defined to characterize the kinematic behavior of the active stages of slow-moving landslides in a velocity-time plot: a linear trend-type I, which is appropriate for stationary phenomena; a convex shaped trend-type II, which is associated with rapid increases in pore water pressure due to rainfall, followed by a slow decrease in the groundwater level with time; and a concave shaped trend-type III, which denotes a non-stationary process related to the presence of new boundary conditions such as those associated with the development of a newly formed local slip surface that connects with the main existing slip surface. Within the proposed framework, a model is developed to forecast future displacements for active stages of trend-type II based on displacement measurements at the beginning of the stage. The proposed model is validated by application to two case studies.

Tail risks and infectious disease: Influenza mortality in the U.S., 1900-2018

I use extreme values theory and data on influenza mortality from the *** 1900 to 2018 to estimate the tail risks of mortality.I find that the distribution for influenza mortality rates is heavy-tailed,which suggests that the tails of the mortality distribution are more informative than the events of high frequency(i.e.,years of low mortality).I also discuss the implications of my estimates for risk management and pandemic planning.

Preoperative and postoperative risk factors for periprosthetic joint infection in primary total hip arthroplasty:A 1-year experience

BACKGROUND Periprosthetic joint infection(PJI)in primary total hip replacement(THR)is one of the most important threats in orthopedic surgery,so one important surgeon’s target is to avoid or early diagnose a *** the incidence of PJI is very low(0.69%)in our department,with an average follow-up of 595 d,this infection poses a serious threat due to the difficulties of treatment and the lower functional outcomes after *** To study the incidence of PJI in all operations occurring in the year 2016 in our department to look for predictive signs of potential *** We counted 583 THR for 578 patients and observed only 4 cases of infection(0.69%)with a mean follow-up of 596 d(min 30,max 1451).We reviewed all medical records to collect the data:duration and time of the surgery,presence,type and duration of the antibiotic therapy,preoperative diagnosis,blood values before and after surgery,transfusions,presence of preoperative drugs(in particularly anticoagulants and antiaggregant,corticosteroids and immunosuppressants),presence of some comorbidities(high body mass index,blood hypertension,chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,cardiac ischemia,diabetes,rheumatological conditions,previous local infections).RESULTS No preoperative,intraoperative,or postoperative analysis showed a higher incidence of *** did not find any class with evident major odds of *** our study,we did not find any border value to predict PJI and all patients had similar values in both groups(non-PJI and PJI).Only some categories,such as female patients,showed more frequency of PJI,but this difference related to sex was not statistically *** We did not find any category with a higher risk of PJI in THR,probably due to the lack of few cases of infection.
